Problem
A newly installed zabbix agent (4.4.x) was installed on a Windows 2016 server using an automated script. The error was showing
Windows could not start the Zabbix Agent service on Local Computer
Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly
Troubleshooting
i tried to run the command in the foreground
"C:\Progra~1\Zabbix-Agent\zabbix_agentd.exe" -f --config "C:\Progra~1\Zabbix-Agent\zabbix_agentd.conf"
And it showed the culprit
zabbix_agentd.exe [6964]: cannot open log: unable to open log file [C:\Program Files\Zabbix-Agent\Log\zabbix_agentd.log]: [2] No such file or directory
Resolution
It was simply matter of ensuring the «Log» directory existed and the service started.
How to Install Zabbix Agent on Windows 2016 and avoid the: Windows error service could not be started. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

If you have the agent service installed incorrectly now, you can remove it by running “zabbix_agentd.exe –uninstall”.
cd c:\zabbix zabbix_agentd.exe --uninstall
New Install
- Create directory C:\zabbix and place zabbix_agentd.exe and zabbix_agentd.win.conf files there.
- Edit the zabbix_agentd.win.conf file and set the values:
LogFile=C:\zabbix\zabbix_agentd.log
Server = IP address of your Zabbix server
# ListenPort = 10050 Leave it commented as is if you don’t change the defaults
ServerActive = IP of your Zabbix server
Hostname = computer that will be monitored as listed in the zabbix server hosts setup
3. Open command prompt and execute:
C:\zabbix\zabbix_agentd.exe --config C:\zabbix\zabbix_agentd.win.conf --install zabbix_agentd.exe [5584]: service [Zabbix Agent] installed successfully zabbix_agentd.exe [5584]: event source [Zabbix Agent] installed successfully
4. Start Windows service.
If you receive an error – Windows Agent – Error 1053 – that the service could not be started, run the uninstall above and restart the installation and make sure the files are in the correct directory and the config file changes match what you need.

Adding a firewall rule in Windows.
Go to Windows Firewall. Add new rule. Choose port, TCP, Specific Local Ports. Add port 10050.
Enter the official website of Zabbix:zabbix official website download interface
There are two ways to choose to download in ZIP and install Zabbix-Agent, one is in the form of EXE, the other is in order.
Create a folder under the C drive or D drive, «Zabbix-Agent»
Then unzip the downloaded zip file into the folder,
Open the conf configuration file and modify the zabbix_agentd.conf file
Old look: still Server, serverActive, hostname modified to Zabbix-Server’s IP
(If Zabbix-Server is installed with docker, note that you should use the IP in Docker instead of the network card address of the virtual machine)
After modification
Open CMD as an administrator
#Enter the installation command, the following two words will appear following
C:\Windows\system32>C:\zabbix-agent\bin\zabbix_agentd.exe -c C:\zabbix-agent\conf\zabbix_agentd.conf --install
zabbix_agentd.exe [14284]: service [Zabbix Agent] installed successfully
zabbix_agentd.exe [14284]: event source [Zabbix Agent] installed successfully
#Then execute the start startup command,
C:\Windows\system32>C:\zabbix-agent\bin\zabbix_agentd.exe -c C:\zabbix-agent\conf\zabbix_agentd.conf --start
zabbix_agentd.exe [6836]: service [Zabbix Agent] started successfully
#Many people may encounter problems here, start failure and report errors. Cannot Create Service
#At this time, we first execute the unloading command
C:\Windows\system32>C:\zabbix-agent\bin\zabbix_agentd.exe -c C:\zabbix-agent\conf\zabbix_agentd.conf -d
zabbix_agentd.exe [2028]: service [Zabbix Agent] uninstalled successfully
zabbix_agentd.exe [2028]: event source [Zabbix Agent] uninstalled successfully
#After uninstall, we restart the computer, install it again, and then re -start the service, and it will succeed;
#Then let's check whether the Zabbix-Agent service is up
C:\Windows\system32>tasklist|findstr zabbix
#Can you go to see if there is an error message in the log of Zabbix-Agent
Error 1053: The service does not respond to startup or control request in time
cannot create service [Zabbix Agent]:
For the situation that the Zabbix-agent could not start normally,
At that time, the error was Cannot Create Service [zabbix agent]: xxxxxxx
Open the control panel and enter the «Management Tool» -> «Service» to view Zabbix Agent. When right -clicking, an error will be reported:Error 1053: The service does not respond to startup or control request in time
Uninstall according to the above, restart the computer, and reinstall it to solve;
C:\Windows\system32>C:\zabbix-agent\bin\zabbix_agentd.exe -c C:\zabbix-agent\conf\zabbix_agentd.conf -d
#Restart the computer
#re-install
C:\Windows\system32>C:\zabbix-agent\bin\zabbix_agentd.exe -c C:\zabbix-agent\conf\zabbix_agentd.conf --install
If it has not been resolved yet;
To «My Computer» -> «Management»
Choose network service to add to the group
Re -uninstall, install and try again;
After Zabbix-Agent starts, you can add the host, associate the monitoring template to see if there are monitoring data;
The following is an error in the webpage, (if you configure the file server, the server has no configuration, it may be this problem)
Get value from agent failed: cannot connect to [[ip]:10050]: [4] [Interrupted system call]
#Chat if the server is the same to the client
#For agent
Telnet Zabbix-Server's IP 10051
#For the server
IP on the telnet agent side 10050
#Here it is likely to be unreasonable. Check whether the Windows firewall is closed. If you are afraid of being unsafe, add rules to allow the firewall to allow ports 10050 to pass;

Не в SELinux ли дело?
Для RedHat/CentOS попробуйте так:
yum install policycoreutils-python
semanage permissive -a zabbix_agent_t
> /run/zabbix/zabbix_agentd.pid not readable (yet?) after start.
Может каталог /run/zabbix не существует?
Может прав не хватает на него.
Попробуйте запустить руками например так:
$ sudo su - zabbix -s /bin/bash
No directory, logging in with HOME=/
zabbix@xxx:/$ /usr/sbin/zabbix_agentd
zabbix@xxx:/$
Так же проверьте лог указанный в конфиге в директиве LogFile
В логах самого заббикса что пишут?
