Microsoft has published the “Xbox Series X” theme at the Store. The collection brings 16 high resolution (4K) wallpapers of the next generation gaming console, including close ups of its internals, such as mainboard, processor, memory, and storage. You’ll find multiple renderings of technical design on how the company achieved to pack all the hardware in such a compact design. Also, the theme includes images of the Xbox Series X and the new redesigned controller from various angles.
The Xbox Series X is the most powerful console in the market today. It’s priced at $499 and features a custom 8-core AMD zen 2 processor running at 3.8GHz, 16GB RAM, AMD RDNA 2 graphics supplying 12 teraflops of power and 52 compute units clocked at 1.825GHz, super-fast NVME 1TB Solid-State Drive (SSD) for internal storage, and Blu-Ray disc drive. And with all the new hardware, the console is able to deliver next generation of gaming experience with 4K graphics at 60 fps, and support for Ray Tracing, variable refresh rate, and variable refresh shading.
The Xbox Series X is available in supported markets, including the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom, starting November 10, 2020, and you can order one at the Microsoft Store or Amazon.
The theme is available at no cost to set as desktop backgrounds only on computers using Windows 10.
If the images rotate too quickly, after applying the theme go to Settings > Personalization > Background, use the Change picture every drop-down menu to adjust the image rotation frequency. You can find more great themes in the Themes and Wallpapers for Windows 10 section.
To install, use the download link below. Then click the Get button in the Microsoft Store, and click the Apply button. Finally, select the wallpaper collection from the “Themes” settings page to apply it.

You can’t quite get your hands on an Xbox Series X yet (that’s later this year), but you can at least bring a little bit of the console to your PC. Microsoft launched a new theme in the Microsoft Store that includes several beauty shots of the console and controller to spice up your desktop.
The theme includes a total of 16 images, and they’re all available in 4K. They’re the shots we’ve already seen in a lot of Microsoft’s Xbox marketing, including close-ups of the controller, the console’s details, and more. The dark background really meshes well with the dark theme on Windows as well.
The theme is completely free, so there’s no paywall here. It may not be the real thing, but seeing the Xbox Series X on your PC might be able to tide you over until its release later in 2020.

Microsoft has just released a new update for the Xbox App on Windows 10 with some long requested features, including support for a light theme. This is probably done ahead of the next big update release for the Xbox One console, which will add a similar light theme option for the entire UI.
The update is now available for the app on both PC and Mobile platforms. You’ll find the updated theme options in the settings menu: you can now choose between dark, light and using system colors. The same options should arrive in the next update for mobile versions of the app on both Android and iOS but there is no fixed schedule for that.
There are some new additions to the app’s features in this release. Here’s what mentioned in the official change log for the 31.32.11001.00000 release:
- New for party chat: Control your party’s chat volume, and choose a specific audio device.
- Get the bird’s-eye view: Brackets have been added for Killer Instinct Tournaments.
- We now take you live! Watch game broadcasts in clubs.
- Co-stream with friends: Once you get an invite, just accept to go to Mixer.com and co-stream.
Xbox app for Windows 10 comes preinstalled and should be updated to this release automatically, but if you don’t have it installed or prefer installing the update manually, feel free to check it out in the Windows Store.
