Win XP 10 Pack is a unique and fun pack that combines the old and the new. It makes Windows XP more beautiful, interesting and modern. It adds to it elements from Windows 10, such as icons, sounds, wallpapers, colors, fonts, cursors and more. Furthermore, it also creates some jokes and illusions that can surprise or amuse you and your friends.

Installation and Usage

To install and use Win XP 10 Pack, you need to do the following steps:

  • Apply the classic theme of Windows XP before starting installing
  • Copy all contents to (system drive)\Win10Pack
  • Install cursors
  • Install wallpaper
  • Install icons
  • Install sounds
  • Set User Profile Picture
  • Optional — set Explorer layout to Win 10 Variant
    1. Set icon size — Small, text of icons — no
    2. Button layout: Back, Forward, Up, Address bar
    3. Disable explorer sidebar
  • Optional — copy «(system drive)\Win10Pack\files\Microsoft Edge» to desktop
  • Optional — make a toolbar for «(system drive)\win10pack\files\Quick» folder
  • Optional — make a large icons
  • Optional — change names of folders:
    1. My Computer — This PC
    2. My Documents — Documents
    3. My Music — Music
    4. My Pictures — Pictures
    5. My Network Places — Network
  • Optional — add 2 shortcuts and set their icons to Win 10(system drive\Win10Pack\icons\imageres):
    1. (Your username). Target: %userprofile%
    2. Control Panel. Target: control.exe

How to make themes

To make a themes you need to prepare classic theme.

Preparing

  1. Theme

    1. Open «Display Properties» and select «Appearance»

    2. Select visual style «Windows Classic»

    3. Click «Advanced»

    4. Set this settings
      Set font depend on UI Language

      Using latin, cyrillic, greek and other letters — Segoe UI

      Chinese and Japanese — Microsoft YaHei UI

      Korean — Malgun Gothic

    Title bar — Font look at «Set font depend on UI Language», 9px, Regular

    Message box — Font look at «Set font depend on UI Language», 9px, Regular

    Menu — Font look at «Set font depend on UI Language», 9px, Regular

    Tooltip — Font look at «Set font depend on UI Language», 9px, Regular

    Icon — Font look at «Set font depend on UI Language», 9px, Regular

    Border — 3 px

    Title bar — 20 px

    Menu — 19 px

    Scroll bar — 17 px

    1. Click «OK»
    2. Click «OK»

  2. Cursor

    1. Open «Mouse Properties» and select «Pointer»
    2. Select cursor «Win 10 Regular», «Win 10 Large» or «Win 10 Extra Large»

  1. Right mouse click on desktop

How to install cursors

Install:

  1. Go to cursor directory
  2. Right mouse click on Install.inf
  3. Click «Install»
  4. Open Control Panel and double click on «Mouse»

  6. From list «Pointer» select cursor that you’ve installed
  7. Click «OK»

How to make large icons

  1. Open «Display Properties» and select «Appearance»
  2. Click «Effects»
  3. Check «Large Icons»

How to make toolbar

  1. Right mouse click on taskbar
  2. Click «Toolbars», then click «Add a toolbar»
  3. Go to «(system drive)\Win10Pack\files»
  4. Select «Quick»

  6. Right mouse click on toolbar
  7. Uncheck «Show titles» and «Show text»

Uninstall correctly

Here is my Windows 10 installation with a Luna theme. The theme is Luna10 with a few modifications I have made to it + BasicThemer2. Sadly, there are some things I cannot fix, such as the inactive text color, but nevertheless, as for me, it looks great and accurate.

I managed to make the command prompt have the classic theme. How did I do this? I added a registry key to the CMD startup entry, which runs SetClassicTheme setting the classic theme for the command prompt window.

And also regarding my mods to Luna10, here is a showcase of the titlebar shadow (which was present in Luna) and also some mods to the popup menu.
Tomorrow I’ll probably mod Luna10 even further to look more accurate. I’ll also make Royale and Royale Noir variants later as these 2 are my favorite XP themes.

I got Telnet and Movie Maker. Why? Because why not. From what I can tell WMM doesn’t do anything, I probably have to register some DLLs, I’ll see later on this.

I also got aclui.dll from XP x64 because I didn’t like how the 10 security tab looked and functioned.

In case the user you are on isn’t Administrator you might be confused why it says that, basically the username is actually a screenshot from a XP vm, you will need to get a XP VM, screenshot it, go onto resource hacker and mod the images that have the administrator text thing, and boom you have your own thing.
Also! Be sure to get the XPLuna7 XML and load it onto OSM if you haven’t done that alr

So as it turns out if I attempt to replace the Win 10 theme I have on my main my PC begins to black screen and the cursor flashes. I’m not really sure what to do. I really like Royale Noir but this issue just ruins my dream of it. I guess making a new theme file and applying it from there might fix.

Unrelated question but how did you add a caption text shadow with Vista Style Builder? I’m currently using a XP theme on Windows Vista and been wanting to do this.

Unrelated question but how did you add a caption text shadow with Vista Style Builder? I’m currently using a XP theme on Windows Vista and been wanting to do this.

Go to the active caption and add in a property called TEXTSHADOWTYPE. Select SINGLE. Then go add in another property, the type now being Position and add in TEXTSHADOWOFFSET. Set it to 1; 1.

By the way got over XP’s system restore onto windows 10… Ok, not really. It doesn’t function. All I did was extract HTML shit from XP’s rstrui, made a copy of srui-main, made it a HTA file and added in some HTA:APPLICATION values.

Yeah i’d love to if it’d help? I did Olive Green, Royale Noir, (Royale for shits and giggles but didnt change much, and a Windows 10 for Windows 11 theme)

If I can find the msstyles ill definitely send them! But i’m having trouble finding them

As i remember, Classic shell offer a good XP luna theme/ Longhorn, and Grey, olive, variant of it ^^
