    Blue Screen : 0xD1 (TDI.SYS)

    Hey everyone,

I woke up this morning and got on my computer to find that none of my applications were able to connect to the internet. Some applications claimed to be connected, although no packets were sending or receiving.

This is the only noticable symptom I was able to find.

So, I thought I’d restart my computer to refresh the system. Well I click on the «Start» button and a blue screen appears:

    Code:

    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    0xD1
    TDI.SYS

The driver TDI.SYS is the driver that the blue screen showed as causing the error. The thing is, I have no idea what this driver is, nor what device it goes to.

Please keep in mind, also, this error has never occurred before. This is the first occurance.

If someone can help me figure out, first of all, what this driver is for, I’ll be able to post more information on the device it represents. In the meantime, I’ll just blabber some useful information about my system:

    NIC: LinkSys LNE100TX Ver 5.1
    MB: Asus A7N8X Deluxe
    Processor: AMD Athlon XP 2700+
Memory: 1.5MB PC2600 DDR SDRAM (Corsair)
    OS: Windows XP Professional SP2

Did you re-power up the system and are you still getting the BSOD?

Might want to check out the sticky thread regarding Into to BSOD.

Nope, not getting it now. But small things like these that don’t happen constantly usually mean there’s something to be adjusted or fixed.

I think you may have a virus:

    http://securityresponse.symantec.com…32.sistdi.html

I’d do a full scan right away, here are three good online scanners if you need them or want a second opinion:

    Housecall

    Panda Online scan

    eTrust Web Scanner

I would disagree with this statement. Errors and such can happen randomly. Windows for example has to do hundreds if not thousand of things just to boot. One little small burp in any one of these items and boom… You’ve got an error. Reboot and it doesn’t happen again….

Then there’s the fact that you could spend fifty hours adjusting and fixing things and not know for weeks if you fixed it or not…

On the other hand, if you can recreate an error at will, that’s something that needs to be looked at..

If you’re happy and you know it……it’s your meds.

I just got the same blue screen again today. This is the second occurance. I was doing nothing in particular when it happened, just flipping through programs doing a bunch of things at once, like normal people do.

What device uses this driver? I have a Linksys LNE100TX ver. 5.1 NIC, I think this driver may be for my network card. I can’t seem to find the correct driver for this card, and I don’t know if the «ver 5.1» part represents the card itself or the version of the drivers that came with the card.

I had recently updated my NIC drivers a while back, but I downloaded the version 1 drivers I think. I suspect a driver mismatch.

The website I downloaded the drivers from is here.

    Any help?

I did some research of my own on this.

I went into a LINKSYS live chat and I asked them if TDI.SYS was a system driver to their NICs, they said yes. So, this made me assume I had installed incompatible drivers, which indeed was the case. I have a Linksys LNE100TX ver5.1 network interface card. It is very important that you install the drivers for your version. I installed version 1.0 I think. Not all LNE100TX drivers are for your specific NIC and there are many different versions. This is the problem so far I believe. Ever since I updated the correct drivers, I have not had this blue screen. I’m not getting my hopes up, but until I see the BSoD again I will assume it’s fixed.

I suffered more that a month of a constant BSOD (every time I turned on my PC), with messages that I never could read. After trying many solutions, buying a new memory 512MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM (Samsung) to replace the one I had, apparently put me in peace again with my PC (or at least I was thinking so). I could work more than 3 weeks with no problems, BUT:

I’ve just got a similar BSOD saying (for the very first time I could read, tks for the trick) TDI.sys may be the problem…

What I’m starting to think is that my mother board have a problem with the bus that connects the RAM, what do you guys think? Can some one try changing the RAM? (take care, read the instructions…)
