With the recently released Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista, many people obviously want to install Windows with a slipstreamed DVD. However, somehow MS messed up the Vista servicing stack, and therefore, it is not possible to slipstream the update and create your own SP1 install media.
So what if you want to install Windows Vista Service Pack 1 as OEM installation? You may acquire a legal copy of a DVD with SP1 already applied, and make it a fully valid OEM copy all by yourself. Be aware that this procedure applies to DELL installations only, as we have no information where the othere OEMs store their certificates.
Preparations needed before you reinstall:
- Copy the folder [SYSTEM32]\OEM to a safe place
- Find out your Windows serial using JellyBean 2
You may wipe your Windows installation now and reinstall the operating system without a serial number. Be sure to select the correct edition of your license when installing, though!
After installing Windows without a serial number, do the following:
- Restore the folder [SYSTEM32]\OEM from your backup
- Start an elevated command prompt (e.g. run [SYSTEM32]\cmd.exe as Administrator)
- Change into the [SYSTEM32]\OEM directory and type the following commands:
- slmgr -ilc [CERTIFICATE]
- slmgr -ipk [PRODUCTKEY]
- slmgr -ato
Execution of each commands takes a while, so be patient and wait for a message box to pop up before you type the next command in the chain. Also, the following pathes are assumed:
- [SYSTEM32] is the path to your system directory, typically C:\Windows\System32
- [CERTIFICATE] is the name of your cert file you backed up before reinstalling, in this case DELL.XRM-MS
- [PRODUCTKEY] is the key you wrote down before reinstalling
Be aware that this guide only works on DELL machines. Also, it is imperative you already have a working OEM installation of Windows Vista you can get the installation key from. We do not support piracy of any kind, and we will not hand out any certificate files or serial numbers! This is solely for people who want to install a fresh copy of Vista SP1 without waiting for the OEM to deliver new media.

You have successfully activate Windows Vista instantly in OEM style by using hardware-level BIOS ACPI-SLIC mod, or one of the two software based OEM BIOS emulator such as softmod SLIC BIOS bootloader and Paradox OEM BIOS Emulation Toolkit. However, if you’re not install Windows Vista with OEM DVD media image, your installed version of Windows Vista edition is just of plain flavor. If you fancy to have some OEM logo identification and OEM information somewhere in Windows Vista such as for Dell in the illustration below, below has a few auto patcher that automatically add and install either Lenovo, HP or Dell OEM logo and information to Windows Vista.

A user at a Chinese Windows Vista forum has created automated installer that add the OEM logo and info to Windows Vista. Once executed, the setup will copy the required files to \Windows\System32\OOBE folder or its sub-directory, depending on which OEM brand you pick. It will also automatically merge the registry entries and values for OEM logo and info to at least the following two registry keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OEMInformation
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winsat\WindowsExperienceIndexOemInfo

To use the automated patcher and installer for OEM logo, simply double click on the downloaded executable, and then click on the Install button (you will see garbage text, but just click on the left button of the bottom two to start the installation. If your Windows Vista installation is not on C:\ drive, select from the drop down list under the label D.
Click on the left bottom button to start install OEM logo.
After the OEM logo and information has been applied, you will see Welcome Center and System of Control Panel as in screenshots below. The information has added optional items related to OEM manufacturer include the manufacturer and model, a small logo picture, and a button leading to a separate page of support information.

Первые скриншоты Windows 11 — изменения коснулись «Пуска», панели задач, интерфейса и многого другого
В Сети оказались опубликованы скриншоты, сделанные в грядущей операционной системе Windows 11 от компании Microsoft. На опубликованных изображениях демонстрируется новый пользовательский интерфейс, свежее меню «Пуск» и многое другое. Поскольку это очень ранняя сборка, некоторые элементы новой ОС остались такими же, как у текущей версии Windows 10.
Новый пользовательский интерфейс и меню «Пуск» в Windows 11 очень похожи на те, что изначально были в Windows 10X. Microsoft пыталась упростить интерфейс Windows для использования на устройствах с двумя экранами, но в конечном счёте отказалась от дальнейшей разработки Windows 10X. Позже компания пообещала использовать те наработки в основной версии ОС, и как видно, сдержала обещание — многие элементы легли в основу новой Windows 11.
Наиболее заметное визуальное отличие новой ОС связано с панелью задач. Microsoft решила сместить иконки приложений с левого нижнего края экрана в центр. Здесь же находится и новая кнопка меню «Пуск». Последняя представляет собой упрощённую версию того меню, что сегодня присутствует в Windows 10.
В новой версии операционной системы используются закруглённые углы окон. Контекстуальные меню, иконки, а также окно проводника — теперь всё имеет закруглённые углы, включая иконки и окна меню «Пуск».
На панели задач Windows 11 можно увидеть новую иконку Widgets (виджеты). Слухи о том, что компания вернёт их в новую ОС, ходят уже давно. Правда, сами виджеты из-за «сырости» версии сборки пока недогружаются. С помощью виджетов можно будет быстро узнать погоду, свежие новости и другую полезную информацию из Сети.
В ранней сборке Windows 11 компания пока не вносила изменения в интерфейс магазина приложений Windows Store. Прежде сообщалось, что Microsoft собирается серьёзно переработать магазин приложений и сделать его более дружелюбным не только для пользователей, но и для разработчиков приложений. Для них упростят размещение контента на платформе, а также позволят использовать в приложениях сторонние платёжные сервисы.
Визуально изменится и процесс установки Windows 11. Однако пользователя как и раньше будут сопровождать по каждому шагу установки и настройки новой ОС. При каждой загрузке Windows 11 пользователя будет встречать новый звук запуска системы.
Microsoft подробно расскажет о «следующем поколении Windows» на специальном мероприятии, которое состоится в конце этого месяца. Софтверный гигант начал рассылку приглашений на мероприятие, которое будет полностью посвящено программной платформе Windows и начнётся в 18:00 (мск) 24 июня.
