manchester, как точно работает не скажу, так как не вникал в суть. Как минимум отключаются и блокируются службы обновления. Возможно вносятся изменения и в политики, так как после блокировки и перезагрузки открыть окно обновлений вообще становится невозможным
Проверял на 1809 Pro и LTSC версиях.

Хорошо, что я пользуюсь этой прогой даже на серверах, ибо там творится такое..
Автоматическое обновление до Windows Server 2025 стало неожиданностью для компаний, работающих на Windows Server 2019 и 2022, особенно в тех случаях, где обновления управлялись через сторонние средства. Многие организации сообщили о переходе на новую версию системы, который произошёл без их согласия и вызвал недовольство среди пользователей. Проблема затронула серверные системы, которые обновились, несмотря на заявленный статус обновления как необязательный. Microsoft и независимые поставщики услуг по управлению обновлениями перекладывают друг на друга ответственность за инцидент.
6 ноября Microsoft обновила панель мониторинга состояния обновлений Windows, подтвердив, что обновление до Windows Server 2025 через пакет KB5044284 произошло в тех средах, где управление обновлениями осуществлялось сторонними продуктами. Рекомендовано проверить, настроено ли используемое программное обеспечение для управления обновлениями так, чтобы исключить установку обновлений, классифицированных как функциональные. Microsoft отметила, что данное обновление было помечено как «DeploymentAction=OptionalInstallation», что должно было указывать на его необязательный характер. Однако сторонние инструменты управления обновлениями интерпретировали эту метку неправильно, что привело к массовому обновлению.
Интересно, что некоторые из затронутых компаний не имели лицензий на Windows Server 2025. По данным портала BleepingComputer, среди пострадавших оказались клиенты компании Heimdal, где около 7% клиентов непреднамеренно получили новую версию сервера до того, как Heimdal заблокировала KB5044284 в политиках группы. В Heimdal указывают на ошибки классификации и высокую скорость распространения обновления как возможные причины инцидента. Однако на момент публикации Microsoft не предоставила инструкций по откату обновления, кроме восстановления из резервных копий.
KB5044284 — это кумулятивное обновление, входящее в инициативу Patch Tuesday от Microsoft, и Windows Server 2025 предполагалось как опциональное обновление. Однако ошибки в настройках инструментов управления привели к его автоматической установке для корпоративных клиентов. Релиз Windows Server 2025 включает новые функции, такие как усовершенствованная защита, поддержка гибридных облаков, улучшенные возможности ИИ и машинного обучения, поддержка графических процессоров, а также hotpatching для минимизации простоев серверов.

Windows 11 and 10 offers less UI control over the updating behavior of the operating system than previous versions of Windows , There is no option to turn off Windows Updates using the Control Panel or Settings app in Windows 11 & 10, it checks for updates automatically and install any updates they find, whether you like it or not. This new feature is actually pretty convenient for most users. If you want control over the update process you can disable the Windows Update service . This requires that you open the Services manager, locate the service and change its startup parameter and status. You would then have to enable the service again whenever you want the operating system to check for updates (It does not look so easy).
Windows Update Blocker is a freeware that helps you to completely disable or enable Automatic Updates on your Windows system , with just a click of the button . This utility is portable, which means that you are no longer required to go through the installation process and no leftovers will remain on the HDD after its removal. if you place the program file to an external data device, you make it possible to take Windows Update Blocker everywhere with you and use it on any computer you come in contact with, who has things configured just right, and doesn’t want to take the chance that an update might mess up their system. This utility is for that person.
How it works
After downloading, extract Windows Update Blocker to your desired location, then run it
service status icon will show your windows Update service status , if you want to block Automatic Windows Updates Choose “Disable Service” And click “Apply Now” Button , Protect service setings can prevent Uncontrolled change (Recommended).
How to block any other service and protect the settings
Windows Update Blocker New version allow users to add any other service into Wub.ini file to block it , first please edit Wub.ini file and add your desired service name under the “dosvc=2,4” line , for example if you want to block “Windows Update medic Service” Please open services and find it
then click on it and copy the Service Name
Write or paste the service name under the dosvc=2,4 line
Finally open Windows Update Blocker and use “Apply now” button. If you want to delete recently added service after a while please follow these steps:
1. Open Windows Update Blocker and choose enable service option then use Apply now button.
2. Delete your desired service line from the Wub.ini file
3. Now you can choose disable service and Protect service settings options
Service List Options
Under Menu button there is a “Service List Options” choice if you click it , Service List Options popup window will be open. With this GUI you can easily control services which added to Wub.ini [Service_List] section. You can add Maximum 25 service to Wub.ini. Wuausrv service showing only for informational purposes therefore you can not edit it.
NOTE: If the windows update service doesn’t start or if there is a problem even though you have enabled windows updates, please restart your system and try again. When windows updates are turned off, some windows processes or programs may try to open and repair Windows updates, resulting in windows update being damaged. Please use the Windows Update Troubleshooter from Microsoft if the updates do not open after restarting the system.
Windows Update Blocker supports Command line options to automate Windows Update Blocker tasks :
NOTE: Wub software does not block Microsoft defender updates.

Windows Update Blocker v1.1 Is needed, considering that build 1809 is around the corner for October release while many are on 1803 by now and that the past solutions are currently rather lousy mostly targeting at best up to 1709. Here is a solution that works for any Windows version from XP to 10 v1803. The latest 1803 build requires special additions as documented below. This does not work with the latest updates and generates Update Error 8024a112 when used on my PC after a few days. Just a warning to others to use it at their own risk. Updates are a part and parcel of Windows 10 (and OS for that matter) and it is a very bad idea to disable them in the first place. If you get this error, read this. Because Microsoft is beta-tested garbage with some updates. Did you see the fiasco that came about with this recent 1809 update? The quality control has become really poor especially on feature packages and service updates. Security updates almost everyone generally accepts. |

Especially as Microsoft tries to become a cloud centric company. Some actually suspect this was deliberately done to try to scare people onto OneDrive. In other words, a very technical issue effecting .01% of the user base which would make some flashy news articles which despite being negative would not make people change OS or the like, was a precalculated strategic business move. They have promised to fix the broken update cycle but they keep changing it at rapid pace. Nevertheless, they are going to continue regardless as the 6 month major update reinforces the Windows as a service model. There is hardly anything that can be done. They will of course be figuring out how to make money out of Windows again shortly. The service payment system is already built into the OS and ready to deploy for corporate licenses. Only a matter of time until it comes to consumers. |

On my LTSB 2016 install I found that /p is a toggle. /e won’t enable without it, so to enable, the command is /e /p. If it’s ignored when it’s not needed for other versions then all the better.

It works while dealing with the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\wuauserv register key.
Wub /d set the value of «Start» to 4
Wub /e set the value of «Start» to 2
Wub /d /p set the value of «Start» to 4 and changes the register key permissions : System has only read access, hence Windows Update process is disabled … until Windows resets the default value and permissions (which seams to be the case after rebooting the system following the February 13, 2018 patch tuesday updates. -

The freaking update assistant is back despite being disabled in the Task Manager and by means of your blocker. -
You likely installed one of the march kb patches. Microballs is trying to include the update assistant in each kb since march. Since 1607 going EOL anyway, one shouldn’t install any of the march kb.
