Microsoft has recently unveiled the Windows Phone Emulator which can be tried by interested people for a demo of working and user interface of Windows Phone. With this Microsoft has enabled all iPhone and Android users to try and experience a quick demo of Windows Phone right on their mobile browser.
Just go to Windows Phone official demo page and feel the look. This is a HTML5 website that simulates the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango interface. In a swap you will see there contact list, agenda, and photos on the demo screen. You can also go through some of its features, such as setting up a unified inbox, navigating through the endless landscape interface, and switching a conversation from Facebook chat to text messaging.
There are two guidance icons in the form of blue dots to help you learn how to navigate through the interface. Here is a screenshot.
Microsoft has also released a SDK for this. Any one can download the and install Windows Phone SDK that includes Windows Phone Emulator. The SDK also provides all of the tools that are needed to develop applications and games for both Windows Phone 7.0 and Windows Phone 7.5 devices.
By doing all this Microsoft is trying to engage those potential users that may be hesitant to go to store and then see the Windows Phone device.

Want to know how the other 5% live? Microsoft has launched a web-based Windows Phone 7 emulator (probably written in HTML5), allowing iOS and Android device owners to see if the grass is truly greener on the other side by simply visiting http://aka.ms/wpdemo in their web browser.
The online emulator is an interactive demo of WP7, with users having the ability to click on tiles, read e-mails, view images, etc. However, it is a guided demo. Once you start the demo and click on a tile at the home screen, blue circles lead you throughout, telling you where to tap and showing off the features of WP7 in the process. Of course since this is a web based demo, don’t expect to experience the full richness (or lack thereof, depending on which side of the fence you sit on) of WP7. For example, you won’t be able to use apps or freely roam the platform. However, it does give Android and iOS users an elementary feel of what to expect from WP7.
Unfortunately it appears this demo is for people with Android/iOS devices only; and it appears to work only in the default browsers for each respective platform. Visiting the demo link on any other type of device (PC, Mac, etc.) and using any browser other than the default one (i.e. Opera Mobile) brings up a sad message that “your device or web browser isn’t supported at this time.”
Update: It appears the WP7 demo works in Chrome on Windows. However, it doesn’t work in Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Opera. Thanks Caleb for pointing this out!
Hit up the link shown below on your Android or iOS device and be sure to share with the rest of us what you think.

Microsoft has enabled Android and iPhone users to get a taste of what life would be like on Windows Phone, with a neat browser-based demo.
The HTML5 demonstration showcases Windows Phone’s Metro user-interface and allows you to follow through and experience the operating system’s basic functionality.
You can view within the Phone, People, Messaging, Outlook, Calendar, Family, Local Scout and Picture tiles, while the emulator guides you through the main features.
Each of the tiles work as they would on any Windows Phone 7 handset.
Shedding the stigma
Android and iPhone users can reach the Windows Phone demo by typing http://aka.ms/wpdemo into the browser.
The demonstration is a nice idea from Microsoft, as it seeks to prize away mobile users from the big two and shed the stigma of previous Windows Mobile iterations.
