This page seeks to list and compare hardware devices that are shipped with Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 operating system. HTC Corporation, Samsung, LG, Dell, Fujitsu, Nokia, Acer, Alcatel and ZTE have all released Windows Phone-based devices.
Throughout its lifespan, Windows Phone 7 was shipped on 28 unique devices. This list contains devices that have been confirmed and officially announced by their manufacturers.
First generation devices come with Windows Phone 7 preinstalled and can be updated to Windows Phone 7.5 and 7.8 OS. All devices in this list feature a 1 GHz Scorpion single-core processor, 512 MB of RAM, a 480 x 800 WVGA resolution screen, a back camera of 5 megapixels and a built-in digital compass. The chipset used is the Snapdragon S1 QSD8250 on non-LG devices and the Snapdragon S1 QSD8650 on LG devices. There are two exceptions, however; the Dell Venue Pro does not feature a compass, while the HTC 7 Mozart includes an 8 MP back camera instead of 5 MP.

All devices in this list feature a single-core processor, a 480 x 800 WVGA resolution screen, and (except for the HTC Radar) a built-in digital compass. Due to the change of requirements, some second generation devices have lower-speed processors or less than 512 MB of RAM.

Windows Phone 7 is finally here with a UK release date of 21 October.
Here we look at the handsets that will be hitting UK phone stores on that date or later in the year.
Windows Phone 7 phones have internal storage like the iPhone – and like Apple’s handsets there’s no microSD expansion either.
- Windows Phone 7: complete coverage
All Windows Phone 7 handsets also have touchscreens – part of the ‘Chassis 2’ specs which Microsoft has laid down for all Windows Phone 7 handsets. All also have a 1GHz processor, a 1500mAh battery and Bluetooth 2.1, along with a 3.5mm headphone jack.
HTC HD 7
Processor: 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon
Onboard memory: 16GB
Screen: 4.3-inch 800 x 480
UK network: O2
UK Release date: 21 October
First up is the HTC HD7 – which is the biggest of the phones on offer, bringing a whopping 4.3-inch 800 x 480 screen, powered by the 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 16GB of storage (though an 8GB version is also being produced, it doesn’t seem like the UK will be taking it). It matches the dimensions of the popular HTC HD2 and forthcoming HTC Desire HD — size wise it comes in at 122 x 68 x 11.2 mm, and weighs 162g. A 5MP camera with dual LED flash is stuck on the back, which is also capable of recording 720p HD video. There’s also Dolby Mobile and SRS Surround Sound too. This phone is being offered by just O2, who have picked up the exclusive rights to a handset which is likely to be among the most sought after of the Windows Phone 7 handsets.

HTC 7 Trophy
Processor: 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon
Onboard memory: 8GB
Screen: 3.8-inch 800 x 480
UK network: Vodafone
UK Release date: 21 October
The HTC 7 Trophy offers close to the power of the HTC HD7 with a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor but it’s smaller, with a 3.8-inch touchscreen. It weighs 140g, with dimensions of 118.5 x 61.5 x 11.96 mm. Internal storage comes in at 8GB. There’s also a 5MP camera with LED flash and 720p HD video recording, Dolby Mobile and SRS Surround Sound. The Trophy will be available exclusively on Vodafone to begin with – the HTC 7 Trophy UK release date is 21 October and it will be available on £25-a-month contracts.
Hands on: HTC 7 Trophy
HTC 7 Mozart
Processor: 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon
Onboard memory: 8GB
Screen: 3.7-inch 800 x 480
UK network: Orange
UK Release date: 21 October
The HTC 7 Mozart is a 3.7-inch touchscreen phone that is being offered exclusively by Orange in the UK – it has a UK release date of 21 October. It’s very similar to the HTC 7 Trophy but the key difference is that it’s aimed at people who want a better digital camera – there’s a 8MP camera with Xenon flash on the back. However, the screen is a touch smaller at 3.7-inches though the resolution is still WVGA (800×480).

HTC 7 Pro
Processor: 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon
Onboard memory: 8GB
Screen: 3.6-inch 800 x 480
UK network: TBC
UK Release date: Christmas
The HTC 7 Pro packs in a full landscape QWERTY keyboard, and 16GB of internal storage. There’s a 1500mAh battery on board as well, which is larger than the HD7, Trophy or Mozart, so ‘productivity on the go’ is the key message here. It also offers a 5MP camera with LED flash and 720p HD video recording, Dolby Mobile and SRS Surround Sound.
However, it’s not exactly lightweight, with dimensions of 117.5 x 59 x 15.5 mm, and weighs a fairly hefty 183.5g with battery.

LG Optimus 7
Processor: 1GHz
Onboard memory:

Like other Windows Phone 7 handsets, the Optimus 7 can also record in 720p HD, and also comes with a digital compass too. Another LG handset was also rumoured with a slide-out keyboard – we’re actually likely to see a QWERTY model around Christmas in the guise of the LG Optimus 7Q, known as LG Quantum in the USA.

Onboard memory: 8GB (rumour)
Screen: 4.1-inch

Yesterday, Microsoft finally launched Windows Phone 7 and with that HTC, Samsung, LG and Dell also revealed their Windows Phone 7 devices. Just like Android phones, users would have a choice for their WP7 phone according to their taste. Some of these phones also have physical keyboards for those who don’t like the touch keyboard that much.
Device | Screen Size | Processor | RAM | Internal Storage | Physical keyboard | Camera |
HTC HD 7 | 4.3-inch | 1GHz | 512MB | 16GB | No | 5MP |
HTC 7 Mozart | 3.7 inch | 1GHz | 512MB | 8GB | No | 8MP |
HTC 7 Trophy | 3.8-inch | 1GHz | 512MB | 8GB | No | 5MP |
HTC 7 Pro | 3.6-inch | 1GHz | 512MB | 16GB | Yes | 5MP |
HTC 7 Surround | 3.8-inch | 1GHz | 512MB | 8GB | No | 5Mp |
Dell Venue Pro | 4.1 inch | 1GHz | 512MB | 8GB | Yes | 5MP |
Samsung Focus | 4.0 inch | 1GHz | 256MB | 8GB | No | 5MP |
Samsung Omnia 7 | 4.0 inch | 1GHz | ____ | 8/16GB | No | 5MP |
LG Quantum | 4.0 inch | 1Ghz | 512MB | 16GB | Yes | 5MP |
LG Optimus 7 | 4.0 inch | 1Ghz | 512MB | 16GB | No | 5MP |
Well, the specs of most the WP7 devices are same as most of them have 512MB RAM, 8GB or 16GB storage, 5MP camera and 1GHz processor. But each device has its unique look and feel and some different features from other devices.
Looking at the HTC’s WP7 phones, we can say that they have a look similar to HTC’s Android phones. HTC HD 7 resembles the HTC HD 2 Windows Mobile phone a lot. HD 7 is one of the most amazing Windows phones unveiled so far. It has a 4.3 inch display, 512MB RAM and HD video recording with its 5MP camera.
Mozart is the smallest HTC WP7 device but this does not mean that it has lesser features. It has a 3.7 inch screen and its specs are just like other WP7 devices but it has a 8MP camera which is better than any other WP 7 device. The aluminum body of HTC 7 Mozart also looks pretty.
Trophy looks like the cheapest Phone from the HTC Windows Phone 7 devices as the device has no different feature from HTC HD 7 or HD 7 Mozart. It has a 3.8 inch WVGA LCD and a 1GHz processor, 8GB internal memory and 5MP camera which are the default specs for a WP 7 device.
HTC 7 Pro, just like other WP7 devices has nothing different in its specs but the device has a physical slide out keyboard. The device is targeted towards those who want to use physical keyboard instead of a touch keyboard. It has a 3.6 inch screen and amongst all the WP7 devices with physical keyboards, this looks the most impressive.
HTC 7 Surround is the looks most different from other HTC WP7 devices as it has a slide out speaker instead of a slide out keyboard. Again, the device has nothing different in specs but its sound is great because of its speaker which makes the device great for watching videos.
Moving from HTC devices, which look like the leaders in WP7 devices, we look at Dell Venue Pro. This is the only WP7 device announced by Dell. It has a 4.1 inch screen with a 1Ghz processor, 512MB RAM and 8GB storage, again nothing different from otherWP7 devices but the device has a different look with its slide down keyboard. Some would also say the slide out keyboard of the device makes the device a little bit weird but some users would find it to be attractive. But personally, I would not be comfortable with this kind of a keyboard.
LG announced two WP7 devices yesterday and one of those was LG Quantum. This device has a physical keyboard and a 3.5inch screen with a good rounded look. LG Quantum has nothing different in its specs. LG Optimus 7 is the second LG WP 7 device and it has a different look from Quantum. It has a 3.8 inch screen and its specs are almost like LG Quantum but it does not have any physical keyboard. Both these LG device has nothing different like the WP 7 devices of HTC or Samsung.
Samsung also looks like a big player for WP7 devices after HTC as their phones have Super AMOLED screens which are better than other devices. Samsung focus looks like Samsung Galaxy S and it has a Super AMOLED 4.0 inch display. It has 256MB RAM with 8GB of internal storage and 5MP camera. Samsung Omnia 7 on the other hand looks totally different from Samsung Focus and it also has a 4.0 Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen.
One thing is for sure, all these phones are expensive from what we’ve heard. Which one would you chose?
