Screwed up with GPO, now it cannot apply the «AppV» & «UEV» Policy.
Long story short, I upgraded from Window 10 HOME to Window 10 PRO via Settings -> Update & security -> Activation -> change product key. And all went fine.
Since it is now new to me I’ve been checking out the Group Policy Editor and I noticed two new things that were not part of HOME Edition before, «App-V» (Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V)) and «UEV» (User Experience Virtualization (UE-V)).
Since these both seem to be about virtualization and server type management stuff, stuff I don’t use nor plan too, I set both Policies for them to disable. «Enable App-V Client» and «Enable UEV» respectively.
But now on every reboot I’ve been noticing two new warnings in Event Viewer;
Windows failed to apply the AppV Policy setting…
Windows failed to apply the UEV Policy setting…
As an «oops, I’ll fix this» I undid the two Policies I set as disable «Enable App-V Client» and «Enable UEV» back to their original state to «Not configured», but these warning still persist every time I reboot my system. It looks like GPO is trying to apply these two settings even though I don’t have or use these two features. They might not even be something that’s installed or supported by my machine (which is pretty old)…
How can I fix this warnings? Is there a way to have GPO stop trying to apply these two rules every reboot?

Advance Audit Policies are not being applied via GPO
Advanced Audit Policy Configuration inclusive of System Audit Policies like Account Logon, Account Management, DS Access, Logon/Logoff, etc are not being applied on the servers when GPO is implemented for the same.
We have additional settings applied via same GPO which is successfully applied.

GPO Override Policy Not Working
Following up with class in which we are making an Google Chrome Settings Override GPO for a local group — added it at the group level; not the higher domain level. This should override the domain’s (high-level) GPO that prevents downloads, prevents incognito
mode, and restrict access to netflix.com. This is according to Windows’ Group Policy API documentation (Overriding and Blocking Group Policy).When looking at the group’s «Group Policy Inheritance» tab in the Group Policy Management tool from the Server Manager (Wins 2012), I am seeing that the override GPO takes precedence over the previously applied restrictive settings from the higher domain
policy. This is what we want.However, when logged into a domain client — with the credentials of the intended local group member — the local group policy is not listed in Chrome://policy. The browser is still blocking netflix.com, downloads, and the use of incognito mode.
I restarted the client computer many times and ran the gpupdate /force script and successfully updated the policy several times. I also went as far as to enforced the GPO in the inheritance table for the local group taken precedence over all other GPOs.
Nothing is happening. HELP!

Where is the «Enable UEV» setting in Windows 10 Group Policy?
I cannot locate the GPO setting for enabling UEV for Windows 10 1607+. I would like to enable this setting so the default UEV service is enabled on our deployments.
- We have the latest admx files from MS for UEV (UserExperienceVirtualization.admx 25/04/2017)
- I am using the Win10 RSAT tools on a Win10 LTSB (don’t ask) deployment.
- I can see the «Enable UEV» settings through local group policy on the PC.
When navigating to the appropriate GPO area (Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Microsoft User Experience Virtualization), the «Enable UEV» settings does not exist.
I have researched the MS documentation which doesn’t explain why it would be missing. Other sites do not seem to reference this issu, all sites simply say that the setting should be set and assume that it is available. It seems I meet all criteria I can find to have access to this setting, but clearly I must be missing something.

На одном из компьютеров перестали применяться новые параметры групповых политик. Для диагностики я вручную обновил параметров GPO с помощью команды
gpupdate /force
и увидел такую ошибку в консоли:
Не удалось успешно обновить политику компьютера. Обнаружены следующие ошибки: Ошибка при обработке групповой политики. Windows не удалось применить основанные на данных реестра параметры политики для объекта групповой политики "LocalGPO". Параметры групповой политики не могут быть применены, пока не будет исправлена эта ситуация. Сведения об имени и пути файла, вызвавшего эту ошибку, содержатся в подробностях об этом событии.
Computer policy could not be updated successfully. The following errors were encountered: The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows could not apply the registry-based policy settings for the Group Policy object LocalGPO. Group Policy settings will not be resolved until this event is resolved. View the event details for more information on the file name and path that caused the failure.
При этом в журнале System появляется событие с EvetID 1096 с тем же описанием (The processing of Group Policy failed):

Если попробовать выполнить диагностику применения GPO с помощью команды gpresult (
gpresult.exe /h c:\tempt\gpresultreport.html
), видно что не применяется только настройки из раздела Group Policy Registry —

:
Registry failed due to the following error listed below. Additional information may have been logged. Review the Policy Events tab in the console or the application event log.
Получается, что к компьютеру не применяются только GPO с настройками клиентских расширений групповых политик CSE (client-side extension), которые отвечают за управление ключами реестра через GPO.
Расширение Registry client-side не смогло прочитать файл registry.pol. Скорее всего файл это поврежден (рекомендуем проверить файловую систему на ошибки с помощью chkdsk). Чтобы пересоздать этот файл, перейдите в каталог c:\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy\Machine и переименуйте его в registry.bak.
Можно переименовать файл из командой строки:
cd "C:\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy\Machine"
ren registry.pol registry.bak
Обновите настройки групповых политик командой:
gpupdate /force
Windows должна пересоздать файл registry.pol (настройки локальных GPO будут сброшены) и успешно применить все настройки GPO.
Если в журнале вы видите событие Event ID 1096 (
The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows could not apply the registry-based policy settings for the Group Policy object LDAP://
) c ErrorCode 13 и описанием “
The data is invalid
”, значит проблема связана с доменной GPO, указанной в ошибке.
Скопируйте GUID политики и найдите имя GPO с помощь команды PowerShell:
Get-GPO -Guid 19022B70-0025-470E-BE99-8348E6E606C7
- Запустите консоль управления доменными GPO (gpmc.msc) и проверьте, что политика существует;
- Проверьте, что в каталоге SYSVOL политики есть файлы registry.pol и gpt.ini и они доступны на чтение (проверьте NTFS права);
- Проверьте, что версия политики на разных контроллерах домена одинакова (проверьте корректность работы домена и репликации в AD);
- Удалите файлы GPO в SYSVOL на контроллере домена, с которого получает политику клиент (
$env:LOGONSERVER
), и дождитесь ее репликации с соседнего DC - Если предыдущие способы не помогут, пересоздайте GPO или восстановите ее из бэкапа.
Ну и в финале сообщение что не удалось применить параметры “Software Installation”
Решения которые нам помогли (в разное время разные решения и на разных компьютерах разная комбинация).
1. В GPO для всех пользовательских компьютеров заменили значение реестра для параметра DisableDHCPMediaSense c “0” на “1”. Подробнее тут
2. В GPO включили параметр “Выполнять эти программы при входе в систему” (Компьютер/Административные шаблоны/Система/Вход в систему).
если эти два параметра не помогают (на совсем новых компьютерах как раз и проявилось на днях), тогда ещё два параметра руками правим в реестре (на днях наверное напишем скрипт что бы банально на все 100% компьютеров заменять).
1. KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{GUID}\ в параметре DhcpConnForceBroadcastFlag (REGDWORD) значение “0” заменяем на “1”.
2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{GUID}\ в параметре DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle (REGDWORD) ставим “0”. Если параметра нет, создаём его.

С правами на каталог все в порядке, другой софт ставится.
При обновлении политики gpupdate /force пишет:

При обработке политики компьютера возвращены следующие предупреждения:
Клиентскому расширению «Software Installation» групповой политики не удалось применить один или несколько параметров, поскольку эти изменения должны обрабатываться до запуска системы или до входа пользователя. Завершение обработки групповой политики будет выполнено перед следующим запуском системы или входом этого пользователя, что может вызвать замедление загрузки и запуска системы.
Обновление политики пользователя завершено успешно.
Чтобы получить дополнительные сведения, просмотрите журнал событий или запустите GPRESULT /H GPReport.html из командной строки для просмотра сведений о результатах групповой политики.
Включены некоторые политики компьютера, выполняющиеся только при загрузке
компьютера.
