Quick google:

«Thinstall packs an entire application suite into a single EXE file that is able to run directly without decompressing to disk. Software Developers can use Thinstall to protect and hide their data files from prying eyes, prevent disassembly of their EXE or DLL files, and create “no installation required” distributions of their software applications.»

Expensive, Commercial

It’s very expensive commercial software (costs thousands) that can virtualize some apps. It is popular in the warez (stolen software) scene.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you’re awesome!

Hey mick1155

In the future, please don’t ask for links or an e-mail or an illegal software or other illegal materials in these forums. We only permit open source software and soon portable freeware will be allowed to be promoted.

Windows Live Mail is copyrighted software, and therefore portable packaging or modification is illegal. Also, it’s best not to post your e-mail in a forum (or anywhere else on the net) as you will begin receiving much more spam than you can handle.

As for alternate choice, Thunderbird Portable with the webmail extension mentioned on the Thunderbird help pages works fine for downloading Hotmail e-mail.

Thanks, and Welcome to PortableApps.com

Heh.

Nicely done, but Windows Live Mail is an email program, the replacement for Outlook Express in Vista.

Ahh, I thought so

«Windows Live Mail is an email program»

I was thinking that too, but I’m not a programmer so I don’t know these things

Live «Suite»

The Windows Live «Suite,» as Paul Thurrott calls it, is basically a suite of applications (Messenger, Mail, Writer (blogging), SkyDrive (online storage), Photo Gallery, and more) that are integrated with a web interface (web apps) and a mobile interface (for Windows Mobile, Blackberry, etc). Pretty cool, if only it were OpenSource.

A minor quibble

As I understand it, virtually any software is copyrighted, even if it is only intrinsic.

The question is not whether it is copyrighted, but whether the license permits distribution.

... and soon portable freeware will be allowed to be promoted.

The freeware you mention is copyrighted, but the license permits free distribution and use. See the difference?

I’m pretty sure you are right, though, about the license to Windows Live Mail not permitting it to be redistributed by PortableApps (although IANAL and I haven’t looked at it).

Maybe I’m just mentioning a distinction without a difference.

Not Here

As mentioned various times in this thread, repackaging this software is illegal. Please do not ask for links to illegal software in this forum. Thunderbird with the Hotmail webmail extension should do the trick.

Thanks.

Cкриншоты:

Windows Live Mail & Mdash; is a free mail client from Microsoft that replaces Windows Mail, which was distributed with Windows Vista. It is able to receive mail from the server, distribute messages to folders, create new messages in the built-in editor and send them to recipients.

Immediately after startup the account wizard opens, POP3 and IMAP protocols for inbound mail and SMTP for outbound mail are supported, and it is also possible to read newsgroups via NNTP and RSS feeds. After setting up your account, the program is ready to download mail from your email and save it to disk. Messages received can be categorized into folders; in Live Mail they are called Selections, and in this respect everything is standard: inbound, outbound, drafts and other messages can be grouped by topic and created as your own groups. The interface is designed in the style of Microsoft office utilities, the window of working with e-mails is similar to Outlook, and the mail editor in MS Word.

Windows Live Mail offers an intuitive interface, powerful search features, and efficient email organization with folder categorization for enhanced productivity.

The program supports spam filtering with the help of Microsoft SmartScreen utility, and you can connect external antivirus modules to protect against malicious programs. It is also possible to protect the account data and has a built-in phishing filter.

In addition to the basic functionality, the application has a powerful calendar scheduler where you can assign upcoming events, meetings, events and other events for any day or month, after which the left part of the window will display the current and future events.

This email client is included in the Windows Essentials package, download the web installer to install and after you start, choose either a complete installation that includes Messenger, Photo Album, Studio, Windows Live Mail, Blog Editor, Microsoft OneDrive, and Outlook Connector. If you only need an email program, select Select a program to install and tick Window’s Mail only.

— Add multiple email accounts with Mail: Windows Live Mail lets you view all of your email in one place. Just enter your email address and password and in a few clicks you’ll be ready to work with your mail;

— Add events to your calendar from your mailbox: in Windows Live Mail, you can add important events to your Calendar from your mailbox using a special panel. Enter the name of the event and it will be displayed directly in the Calendar;

— Conversations: the updated Mail app lets you organize all your past conversations on topics and easily find the right ones among them;

— Large email attachments: now you can send many high-resolution photos in your emails without risking overfilling the recipient’s mailbox. To do this, send your photo album to the Windows Live SkyDrive NAS.

If you’ve been using Windows Live Mail, you might want to give the Windows Mail app a try. If you sign in to your PC with your Microsoft account, your email address is already set up in the Mail app. And the Mail app syncs with the People and Calendar apps on your PC and your Windows Phone

Listen up, folks. We’re talking about Windows Live Mail here. This is a desktop email client from Microsoft, a part of the Windows Essentials suite. It’s a pretty handy tool for managing multiple email accounts in one place, be it Hotmail, Gmail, or Yahoo. The software’s got this nifty feature called Quick Views that lets you filter and check all your unread emails, flagged messages, or contacts updates in a flash. And let’s not forget its calendar function. It’s integrated right into the client, allowing you to easily schedule and manage events. So, if you’re in the market for a robust email client, Windows Live Mail could be your ticket.

Microsoft’s multi-account email client

Microsoft puts Windows Live Mail at the disposal of its users, a functional email manager, that allows them to manage all their email accounts (Windows Live, Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo!, …) from the same interface.

But this email client also includes other interesting functionalities like the possibility to keep up with the latest news through your favorite RSS feeds, save your emails on the hard drive, customize your profile or start a session in Windows Live Messenger.

Bring together different functions in the same email client.

Main features of Windows Live Mail

  • Management of multiple email accounts, both POP3 and IMAP.
  • Send messages with the possibility to include emoticons or photos and attach files.
  • Receive the messages from every account that has been added.
  • Quick access to the calendar options and the address book that the contacts are listed in.
  • Schedule events and notifications with the possibility to add email contents to the event calendar.
  • Includes a practical RSS feed client.
  • Plenty of configuration and customization options available.

Although it’s the email client that we used in Windows Vista or Windows 7, and that replaced Outlook Express, in Windows 10 it has finally been edged out by Outlook. Therefore, this download no longer works. It’s hard to find a standalone offline installer but good luck. In fact, you’ll have to resort to Windows Essentials to carry on using its functions with Windows Mail Desktop if you’re still using a version of Microsoft’s desktop operating system prior to Windows 8.

Requirements and additional information:

  • Requires Windows Vista or above.
