Does anyone know how to Turn off Windows Cardspace? I would like to remove it from my PC if possible I have no use for it on the specific Windows 7 PCs it is on, but I’ve found references to it being integrated into Windows NT functionality, so I don’t want to mess anything up.

В общем, в этой статье, я приведу список служб, которые я отключил в Win7 и рекомендую отключить ибо они в большинстве случаев не нужны и просто отгрызают системные ресурсы, а так же расскажу как оное проделать и Вам.
Всё делаете на свой страх и риск. У меня всё ок.
Службы, которые я отключил:
* Windows CardSpace
* Windows Search
* Автономные файлы
* Агент защиты сетевого доступа
* Адаптивная регулировка яркости
* Архивация Windows
* Вспомогательная служба IP
* Вторичный вход в систему
* Группировка сетевых участников
* Дефрагментация диска
* Диспетчер автоматический подключений удаленного доступа
* Диспетчер печати (если нет принтеров)
* Диспетчер подключений удаленного доступа (если нет VPN)
* Диспетчер удостоверения сетевых участников
* Журналы и оповещения производительности
* Защитник Windows (?)
* Защищенное хранилище
* Настройка сервера удаленных рабочих столов
* Политика удаления смарт-карт
* Программный поставщик теневого копирования (Microsoft)

Как отключить.
Идем по пути:
Пуск – Панель управления – Администрирование – Службы.
Находим в списке службу, жмем по ней два раза левой кнопкой мышки. В случае, если она запущена, жмем в кнопку “Остановить“, а следом выбираем “Тип запуска” – “Отключена“.
Так проделываем со всеми службами по списку выше.
Послесловие.
Подобная мелкая оптимизация позволяет сэкономить ценные ресурсы. Как-никак, службы их тоже потребляют, причем некоторые довольно обильно. И не надо говорить, что Windows 7 и так шустра – по мне так, производительности мало не бывает.

For the past 15 years I built up a file using cardfile.. It is a very old windows program.
Cardfile has been working up until a few days ago.
When I click on my shortcut to cardfile it now goes to Window Cardspace. I somehow must have unintentionally activated Windows Cardspace.
Window Cardspace has wiped out all of the data on cardfile. (I have backups of the data on cardfile but somehow when I try to restore cardfile.exe, it goes to Windows Cardspace and it does not recognize the data. All get is a blank card.
When I go to the control panel and try to remove Windows Cardpace the program does not appear.
Windows Cardspace appears as a separate icon on the control panel. That is, it does not appear in the Control Panel and therefore I cannot remove or de-activate it.
Would anyone please tell me how I can get rid of Windows Cardspace.

answer. So, if anyone want to have a shot at it . . . .

Installing .NET 3.0 on my Windows XP (FAT32) system puts a CardSpace icon in
the control panel. Clicking on it brings up an error messages saying that it
won’t work because either my system is not NTFS, or I’m not running it under
Administrator’s Rights etc.
I tried to start the CardSpace service using services.msc, but only got
another error message.
So, my questions are:
Is .net 3.0 useless under FAT32?
What does CardSpace do anyways?
How can I remove the CardSpace icon from the control panel (no option using
TweakUI).
I’ve asked these questions, from time to time, in various forums, but no one
fells inclined to answer.
Are there answers to thest questions?

Thanks for the links. The second link discusses removal of the CardSpace
icon, but does not offer a working solution. However, after all this time, I
just stumbled across the way to do it. TweakUI does, in fact, have an option
to remove the icon, but if you uncheck it, the icon still remains. Right
clicking on the icon in the Control Panel offers a «delete» option, but does
not delete the icon.
BUT, if you uncheck the option in TweakUI, AND delete it from within the
Control Panel, the icon is removed. Seems, at least at this point, that you
have to do both actions to remove the icon.

Для тем кому важна служба восстановления системы из контрольных точек, я настоятельно рекомендую не отключать:
- Теневое копирование тома
- Программный поставщик теневого копирования (Microsoft).
Как отключить службы, чтобы оптимизировать систему:
