Microsoft has revealed the terms and conditions of using Windows 8 Media Center Pack in Windows 8 Professional.
How to get?
Your PC must be running Windows 8 Pro.
How to get Windows Media Center pack?
You can grab Windows Media Center pack absolutely free within a limited time period i.e. from October 26, 2012, until January 31, 2013, and is limited to five licenses per customer per promotion., and is limited to one product key per email address.
What is the activation deadline?
Your product key must be activated no later than January 31, 2013.

- Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.(If you’re using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, and then click Search.)
- Enter add features in the search box, and then tap or click Settings .
- Tap or click Add features to Windows 8 and then do one of the following:
- If you need to purchase a product key, tap or click I want to buy a product key online.You will be prompted through the steps to buy a product key from there and it will be entered for you.
- If you already have a product key, tap or click I already have a product key.
- Enter your product key and click Next.
- Read the license terms, select the check box to accept the license terms, and then click Add features.
If you were running Windows 8, your PC will restart automatically and Windows 8 Pro With Media Center will be on it.
If you were running Windows 8 Pro, your PC will restart automatically and Windows Media Center will be available for use.
How long shall I get Microsoft support?
The installation of Windows 8 Media Center Pack includes 90 days of no-charge support from Microsoft. The 90-day period begins after you install and activate Windows 8 Media Center Pack. (Telephone or other access charges may apply.)

Add Windows Media Center to Windows 8 Pro
Windows Media Center isn’t included with Windows 8, but for a limited time, you can get it free of charge.

Unlike Windows 7, Windows 8 will not come with Windows Media Center as part of the operating system. It’s now an add-on that can be purchased through the Add Features option in Windows 8. For a limited time, however, Microsoft is offering Windows Media Center to Windows 8 Pro customers for free. Here’s how to get it:
- Request your free product key from Microsoft’s Web site.
- Hit the shortcut, Win+W, then type «add features.» Select «Add features to Windows 8.»
- Click on «I already have a product key,» then enter your product key. Click Next to continue.
- Agree to the licensing agreement, then click «Add features.»
Once the offer expires on January 31, 2013, the cost to add Windows Media Center will be $9.99. This offer does not apply to Windows 8 users who aren’t running the Pro version. Non-Windows 8 Pro users will have to purchase the Windows 8 Pro Pack in order to get Windows Media Center.
With the launch of Windows 8 PRO, Microsoft stripped quite a few features that were present in Windows 7. One of such features is the Windows Media Center which supports DVD/Music playback. As it is now, Windows Media Center is being offered as an addon to the new OS and attracts a fee BUT for a limited time only, Microsoft is offering it free of charge to early adopters of Windows 8 PRO.
To install Windows Media Center, you would be needing a product key which you can get by clicking here. Simply scroll down, fill in your email address and answer the CAPTCHA then wait 24hrs for your key to arrive in your email. I got my Windows Media Pack product key in like 12hrs.
Once you have the key, go to Control Panel and click on System then Get more features with a new edition of Windows as shown below
