What you need to know
- Windows 11 officially launched on October 4, 2021.
- Microsoft has a doc that lists all of the known issues with the operating system.
- As Windows 11 only started rolling out recently, more issues could appear.
Windows 11 officially started rolling out this week. Before installing the new operating system, you can check out all of its known issues. A recently updated doc from Microsoft lists the known issues with Windows 11. Note that since Windows 11 just launched, more issues could be discovered.
At the moment, the only known issues are related to compatibility. Here are all of the known issues currently listed by Microsoft:
Compatibility issues have been found between Oracle VirtualBox and Windows 11Microsoft and Oracle have found a compatibility issue between VirtualBox and Windows 11, when Hyper-V or Windows Hypervisor is installed. You might be unable to start Virtual machines (VMs) and you might receive an error. To safeguard your upgrade experience, we have applied a compatibility hold on these devices from installing or being offered Windows 11.Compatibility issues with Intel «Killer» networking software and Windows 11Compatibility issues have been found between some Intel «Killer» networking software and Windows 11. Devices with the affected software might drop User Datagram Protocol (UDP) packets under certain conditions. This creates performance and other problems for protocols based on UDP. For example, some websites might load slower than others in affected devices, with videos streaming slower in certain resolutions. VPN solutions based on UDP might also be slower.Compatibility issues have been found between Cốc Cốc browser and Windows 11Compatibility issues have been found between Cốc Cốc browser and Windows 11. Cốc Cốc browser might be unable to open and, on some devices, might cause other issues or errors.
Microsoft’s document includes more details and workarounds for the known issues.
Make sure to check out our piece on everything that’s new and changed in Windows 11. You might not see the option to upgrade to Windows 11 right away. We have a guide on which PCs will receive the update immediately and how to upgrade Windows 11 right now.

Since June 24th, 2022, the announcement of Windows 11, Windows users, Insiders, professional IT sites, and Windows service providers are talking about it. The topics are mainly about its new design, new features, Windows 11 minimum system requirement, how to download and install Windows 11, Windows 11 known issues and bugs, and so on.
On July 8th, 2022, Microsoft released its second build — Windows 11 build 22000.65. Unlike its first build — 20222.51 which is full of bugs and errors, the new build fixes some known issues in Windows 11. Of course, as an Insider build, it still has some known issues. Fortunately, these bugs are not the major issues in Windows 11 and most of them have fixes.
List of Noticeable Known Issues in Windows 11:
- This PC Can’t Run Windows 11
- Start — Unable to Enter Text
- Taskbar — Green Flash Appears
- File Explorer — Shows Old Windows 10 Layout or Won’t Appear, Crashes
- Settings — Won’t Launch, Green Flash Appears
- Search — Not Work or Search Panel Not Open
- Widgets — Appear Empty, Display in the Wrong Size on External Monitor
- Store — Not Function, Rate, and Reviews Not Available for Some Apps
- Windows Security — Not Supported for Insiders, Unexpectedly Turned Off
Besides the above issues, many bugs are also coming up while running Windows 11 Insider Build on the computer. Most of them are tiny and endurable.
How to Fix Windows 11 Known Issues and Bugs (3 Fixes)
Notice that most of the known issues could cause some issues on your computer with the current Windows 11 build. And Microsoft is keeping fix these issues and bugs in the new build.
So here we’ve collected three fixes for all the know issues and bugs in Windows 11 that you may pick one and follow to try:
- Rollback from Windows 11 to Windows 10 — Stay with a Stable OS
- Send Feedback to Microsoft — Help Developers to Fix Bugs and Issues in New Builds
- Fix Known Issues in Windows 11 — Manage and Get Rid of Issues on Your Own
#1. Rollback from Windows 11 to Windows 10
Note that Windows 11 offers an 11 days rollback feature that allows you to regret when your computer is not quite compatible with the new OS or you don’t feel like this OS.
To do so, you can directly follow the tips here for help:
Step 1. Go to Settings, click System and Recovery.
Step 2. Click Go back next to the Previous version of Windows.
Step 3. Check the reasons why you want to uninstall when prompted.
Step 4. Click No, thanks when asked to check for updates instead of rolling back.
Step 5. When a «What you need to know» window pops up, click Next to continue.
Step 6. Click Next again when it warns you to remember your password from Windows 10. (Keep your password remembered.)
Step 7. Click Go back to an earlier build.
The system will now restart and go through a restoration process that should take a few minutes. When that completes, you’re back on Windows 10
#2. Send Feedback to Microsoft via Insider Channel
Microsoft opens access for Windows users to report feedback on their computers regardless the operating system is new Windows 11 or mature Windows 10. As long as your current operating system is on support, you can report a bug or a known issue to the Microsoft support team.
If the bugs or issues are big or one of the major issues on the current OS, you may help to get the issue resolved by doing so:
Step 1. Go to the Feedback Center on your computer.
Press Windows + F to open it.
Step 2. Click Feedback on the left pane, click Add new feedback under the All feedback section.
Step 3. Enter your feedback by typing a summarize and details, and click Next to continue.
Step 4. Choose a category and click Next.
Step 5. Find similar feedback, the feedback system will list similar feedback to you.
If there is one, select it and add more details to your issue. If not, select New Feedback and select Next step.
Step 6. Then add more details to your current issue in the fourth position.
For a more detailed guide, refer to this page for help: Send Feedback to Microsoft.
#3. Manually Fix Known Issues in Windows 11
As all the known issues keep coming out and Microsoft is focusing on fixing bugs and known issues in its new builds. So here we collected some major known issues that are currently bothering Windows 11 Insider users and if you are with one or two issues, follow the fixes and try to make things work:
- This PC Can’t Run Windows 11
This PC can’t run Windows 11 is an error that occurs when Windows 10 users run the PC Health Check utility to test if their computers are compatible with the minimum system requirements of Windows 11.
It’s related to some issues on hardware like TPM2.0 limit and software like Secure Boot must be enabled. And the good news is that most hardware and software issues are fixable. You can refer to this page to get a full guide to getting rid of this issue: This PC can’t run Windows 11.
- Start — Unable to Enter Text
When you are unable to enter text while using Search from Start or the Taskbar, try this out:
Step 1. Press Windows + R keys.
Step 2. When the Run dialog pops up, close it.
Step 3. Retry to see if you can enter text in Start or Taskbar.
- Taskbar — Green Flash Appears
Mostly, when Taskbar flashes green or flickers, it indicates there might be a new update available in the background. Here is a list of things that you can try:
- 1. Update display driver
- 2. Uninstall problematic apps
- 3. Use file system checker
- 4. Check if the flashing taskbar appears in safe mode
- File Explorer — Shows Old Windows 10 Layout or Won’t Appear, Crashes
File Explorer shows in old Windows 10 layout:
1. Open File Explorer and click View, select Options.
2. Click View and uncheck Launch folder windows in a separate process, click Apply.
File Explorer Won’t Appear or Crashes:
1. Open File Explorer, go to View > Options.
2. Uncheck Open folders in a separate process.
For more fixes, you may try the proven fixes in Windows 10 that may also work in Windows 11 by referring to File Explorer on Open in Windows 10.
- Settings — Won’t Launch, Green Flash Appears
1. Try to open Settings:
- Click Start and select Settings
- Click Start > Search, type settings, select from the search list
- Right-click Start and select Settings
- Press Windows + R keys, type ms-settings, click OK
- Open PowerShell and type start ms-settings and hit Enter
2. Run System File Checker: open PowerShell and type sfc /scannow, hit Enter.
3. Download and run Windows Update troubleshooter
4. Reinstall Settings app: open Powershell and type Get-AppXPackage | foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register «$($_.InstallLocation) \AppXManifest.xml»} and hit Enter.
- Search — Not Work or Search Panel Not Open
1. Restart the computer
2. Run Windows troubleshooter: Settings > Update and Security > Troubleshoot > Search and Indexing > Click run the troubleshooter.
3. Restart Search service: Press Windows + R to open the run dialog, type services.msc and click OK > scroll down to locate Windows Search, right-click it and select Start or Restart.
- Widgets — Appear Empty, Display in the Wrong Size on External Monitor
- 1. Sign out and sign in back again
- 2. Press Windows + W to bring out Widgets
- 3. Personalize Widgets, re-arrange, resize, and customize the content.
- Store — Not Function, Rate, and Reviews Not Available for Some Apps
- 1. Reset Microsoft Store: Start > Settings > Apps > Microsoft Store > Advanced Options > Reset.
- 2. Clear Store Cache: Open Search > search wsreset.exe > close the window.
- 3. Re-log in Microsoft Store: open Store > click Account > click Sign Out > Relaunch Store > Sign in with your account.
- 4. Run Windows Troubleshooter: Settings > Update and Security > Troubleshoot > Windows Store Apps > Run the troubleshooter.
- Windows Security says «Standard hardware security not supported» for Insiders, Unexpectedly Turned Off
It means that your device doesn’t support memory integrity and core isolation, and it also may have the following limit:
- TPM 2.0 not supported
- Secure boot not enabled
- DEP
- UEFI MAT not enabled
To fix this issue, you have two resolutions: 1. Report the error to Microsoft; 2. Stay your computer with a stable OS, maybe rolling back to Windows 10 is the best option.
Windows 11 Known Issues Are Fixable, Keep Notified
On this page, we listed some major known issues and bugs that are obvious on Windows 11 Insider builds. Either you are on the latest build or you are with the first build, these known issues are fixable.
If you have the same known issues on your computer, try the above fixes. If not, report it to Microsoft or try to find a fix on the Insider Program.

24H2 breaks Killer E2500 Ethernet Controller. see my post
My Killer E2500 Gigabit Network Won’t Work with 24H2
Great another option thanks Do I need to reboot my computer after updating my driver’s?? Ethernet drivers don’t normally need a reboot. You’ll be prompted if necessary. After you’ve extracted the zip archive containing the driver, use Device Manager and browse to where it is saved. In Device…

No big problems with in-place upgrade on 7 computers.
After installing Win11_24H2_(26100.1742) as in «in-place upgrade», Windows Update wants to install 2024-09, KB5043080, September Cumulative Update, which is 1742. Let it do it & there is no change.
«sfc /scannow» detects errors before the CU & does repair them. No errors detected after the CU.
«DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth» says all is fine before & after.

Is Start11 an affected program? I did a cursory search online I couldn’t find a list.
I currently have a fully updated Win 11 23H2 installed on a X99 board with a Broadwell-E 6850K. I have no form of TPM. Should I have any issues with running the standard Windows update?

So far these are the drivers and/or software that are having problems or not behaving properly with 24H2 installed (rolling back to 23H2 solves the problems):
Intel Killer drivers, both Ethernet and Wi-Fi (regarding Wi-Fi, the problem is related to Location Services and doesn’t matter if enabled or disabled, also occurs in Killer Control Center)
Alienware Command Center (doesn’t load all features, also gives a license + download error in MS Store)
Avast Premium Security (on every PC restart the program detects a new network, yet the network is always the same)
SUPERAntispyware Pro (license registers as EXPIRED, yet works when rolling back to 23H2)
Wise Care 365 (after installing 24H2, some users have reported that the program disappears from their PCs and only some remnants are left behind in the installation folder)

24H2 hasn’t even shown up in my Updates… I would wait until some bugs are fixed, my two cents.
How will bugs get detected if one does not try it?
Anyway, you can wait for ages but that is no guarantee that you will not get issues.
Make an image backup, upgrade knowing you can revert if you get issues.

ISSUE: AVD Applications Using App Attach Feature might Fail to Start
Date: May 02, 2025
Details: After upgrading to Windows 11, version 24H2, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) users might face issues with applications using the App attach feature. While attempting to start App attach applications, users might encounter an error message that displays the error message ‘Element not found’. App attach is a feature that allows users to add applications to user sessions without installing them directly on the virtual machine.
This issue is expected to occur when App attach applications are packaged in CIMFS (Composite Image File System) format. CIMFS is a file system used in Azure Virtual Desktop for managing application images.
This issue only applies to Windows versions running in Azure Virtual Desktop.
Status: Mitigated
Workaround: Users can use VHDX (Virtual Hard Disk v2) image instead of CIMFS image for packaging files.
Next Steps: Microsoft is working on a resolution and will provide more information when it is available.
ISSUE: Wallpaper Customization Applications might not Work as Expected
Date: April 11, 2025
Details: After installing Windows 11, version 24H2, some wallpaper customization applications might not launch or function correctly. Multiple applications are affected, and symptoms can include wallpapers not appearing correctly, icons disappearing from the desktop, loss of desktop preview functionality, issues with virtual desktops, or error messages displayed by the application.
To safeguard users update experience, Microsoft has applied a compatibility hold on devices which are utilizing one of these applications. These devices will not be offered or install Windows 11, version 24H2 via the Windows Update release channel. IT administrators using Windows Update for Business reports can check this issue using its safeguard ID: 52754008.
Status: Mitigated
Resolution: Installing the latest versions of these wallpaper customization applications might help remove the compatibility hold on affected devices. As new versions and updates are released for these applications by their respective developers, it’s expected that these issues will be resolved.
Note that several wallpaper applications are currently included in this compatibility hold. For this reason, the specific timing of the resolution of this issue on a given device may depend on the application being used and the timing of that application’s update. As new versions and updates are released for these applications by their respective developers, it’s expected that these issues will be resolved.
ISSUE: Devices with Apps Using sprotect.sys Driver might Stop Responding
Date: April 04, 2025
Details: Microsoft is working with SenseShield Technology Co on a compatibility issue between Windows 11, version 24H2 and the sprotect.sys driver. This issue causes affected devices to become unresponsive and display a blue or black screen error. The sprotect.sys driver provides encryption protection and is used by specialized security software and enterprise solutions. This driver can be automatically introduced into a system as part of the installation process of many different applications. The issue impacts devices with any version of the sprotect.sys driver (1.0.2.372 and 1.0.3.48903).
To safeguard your update experience, we have applied a compatibility hold on devices running the incompatible sprotect.sys driver. These devices will not be offered to install Windows 11, version 24H2 via the Windows Update release channel.
Status: Confirmed
Next Steps: SenseShield is currently investigating this issue. Microsoft is collaborating with SenseShield, and the company will provide more information when it is available.
ISSUE: Some Devices that have Dirac Audio with Cridspapo.dll might Lose Audio Output
Date: December 18, 2024
Details: A compatibility safeguard hold has been applied to a limited set of devices from one manufacturer due to an audio issue following the installation of Windows 11, version 24H2. This issue was observed on some devices containing Dirac Audio with the cridspapo.dll file. The incompatibility relates to the software component cridspapo.dll, which is part of these devices’ audio processing software. Dirac Audio is a digital sound improvement technology that enhances audio clarity and precision.
After installing Windows 11, version 24H2, some users reported that their device’s integrated speakers, Bluetooth speakers, and Bluetooth headsets stopped functioning. They also reported that both first-party and third-party applications didn’t recognize these devices.
To prevent users from encountering this audio issue, Microsoft has applied a compatibility hold on devices containing Dirac Audio with cridspapo.dll. These devices will not be offered to install Windows 11, version 24H2 via the Windows Update channel until this issue is resolved. IT administrators using Windows Update for Business reports can check this issue using its safeguard ID: 54283088.
Status: Confirmed
Next Steps: Once the driver addressing this issue is released by the manufacturer, Microsoft will partner to offer the new driver via Windows Update to resolve this audio issue. The safeguard hold preventing the update to version 24H2 will be lifted after this issue is resolved on end-users’ devices.
ISSUE: Camera Use might Cause Some Applications to Become Unresponsive
Date: October 18, 2024
Details: After installing Windows 11, version 24H2, certain devices might experience problems using the integrated camera in scenarios where object or face detection features are enabled. This can include using the Camera app, using facial recognition sign-in options with Windows Hello, and other applications that use the integrated camera.
To safeguard your update experience, Microsoft has applied a compatibility hold on device models affected by this issue. These devices will not be offered to install Windows 11, version 24H2 via the Windows Update release channel. IT administrators using Windows Update for Business reports can check this issue using its safeguard ID: 53340062.
Status: Confirmed
Next Steps: Microsoft is working on a resolution and will provide more information when it is available.
ISSUE: Some Devices Using Easy Anti-Cheat Stop Responding and Receive a Blue Screen
Date: September 30, 2024
Details: Microsoft is working with Easy Anti-Cheat on an incompatibility issue between Windows 11, version 24H2 and the Easy Anti-Cheat application. This software is automatically installed with some games as part of security and cheat-prevention measures used in multiplayer online PC games. Only devices with Intel’s Alder Lake+ processors and vPro platform are affected. In rare cases, when users open or play certain games, this issue causes affected devices to stop responding and to show a blue screen (BSOD) with the error “MEMORY_MANAGEMENT”. Most devices experiencing this issue use Easy Anti-Cheat drivers released before April 2024.
To safeguard users update experience, Microsoft has applied a compatibility hold on devices running the incompatible Easy Anti-Cheat drivers. These devices will not be offered to install Windows 11, version 24H2 via the Windows Update release channel. IT administrators using Windows Update for Business reports can check this issue using its safeguard ID: 52325539.
If you are trying to install Windows 11, version 24H2 through the media creation tool and your device has incompatible drivers, you will receive a pop-up message alerting that your device is not ready for this new version of Windows.
Status: Confirmed
Resolution: Updating your games might help address this issue, depending on whether a compatible version of Easy Anti-Cheat is also included in the game’s update.
ISSUE: Compatibility Issues With Intel Smart Sound Technology Drivers
Date: September 30, 2024
Details: Intel and Microsoft have found incompatibility issues with certain versions of drivers for Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) on Intel 11th Gen Core processors and Windows 11, version 24H2. Devices running version 24H2 with the affected Intel SST driver might receive an error with a blue screen (BSOD). The affected driver is named Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) Audio Controller. It is listed under System Devices in Device Manager and is found with the file name ‘IntcAudioBus.sys’. If this file is version 10.29.0.5152 or 10.30.0.5152, this issue can occur.
Only devices with both an Intel 11th Gen Core processors and an Intel SST driver version of 10.29.0.5152 or 10.30.0.5152 are affected by this issue.
To safeguard users update experience, Microsoft has applied a compatibility hold on Windows devices which have Intel SST driver versions 10.29.0.5152 or 10.30.0.5152. These devices will not be offered to install Windows 11, version 24H2 via the Windows Update release channel. IT administrators using Windows Update for Business reports can check this issue using its safeguard ID: 51876952.
Status: Confirmed
Resolution: Devices which are encountering this issue will need to install newer versions of the Intel SST Audio Controller drivers prior to updating to Windows 11, version 24H2. The issue is resolved by updating the Intel Smart Sound Technology drivers to version 10.30.00.5714 and later, or 10.29.00.5714 and later. Please note that later versions of this driver might refer to only the last part of the version number. For the purpose of addressing this issue, 10.30.x versions are not newer than 10.29.x versions.
FIXED: Known Issues in Windows 11 24H2 which have been Resolved
Following known issues have been resolved in Windows 11 24H2 feature update:
ISSUE: Safe Exam Browser Application might Fail to Open
Date: May 09, 2025
Details: After installing Windows 11, version 24H2, you will experience issues while opening the Safe Exam Browser app if you are running version 3.7 or lower versions of this application. To safeguard users update experience, Microsoft has applied a compatibility hold on devices using versions 3.7 or older of this app. These devices will not be offered to install Windows 11, version 24H2 via the Windows Update release channel. IT administrators using Windows Update for Business reports can check this issue using its safeguard ID: 49562592.
Status: Resolved External
Resolution: This issue is resolved by installing the latest version of the Safe Exam Browser app (version 3.8 or later). Devices which are encountering this issue will need to install the latest version of the Safe Exam Browser prior to updating to Windows 11, version 24H2.
ISSUE: Authentication Issues Due to Failed Password Rotation in Kerberos
Date: April 08, 2025
Details: After installing Windows 11, version 24H2, devices using the Identity Update Manager certificate/Pre-Bootstrapping Key Initialization (PKINIT) protocol might experience an issue with passwords not rotating correctly, causing authentication failures. This issue occurs particularly when Kerberos Authentication is used and the Credential Guard feature is enabled. Note that machine certification using PKINIT path is a niche use case, and this issue affects a small number of devices in enterprise environments.
With this issue, devices fail to change their password every 30 days as the default interval. Because of this failure, devices are perceived as stale, disabled, or deleted, leading to user authentication issues.
Devices running Windows Home edition are unlikely to be affected by this issue, as Kerberos authentication is typically used in enterprise environments and is not common in personal or home settings.
Status: Resolved
Resolution: This issue is resolved in the April 2025 Windows security update (KB5055523) and later updates.
Note: The feature Machine Accounts in Credential Guard, which is dependent on password rotation via Kerberos, has been disabled until a permanent fix is made available.
ISSUE: Remote Desktop might Disconnect with January 2025 Preview Updates and Later
Date: March 27, 2025
Details: After installing the January 2025 Windows preview update (KB5050094) and later updates, users might experience unexpected disconnections with Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) sessions, including Remote Desktop Services (RDS). We’ve observed a significant increase in reports of this issue following the release of the March 2025 Windows security update (KB5053598).
Users might notice their RDP sessions unexpectedly disconnecting after 65 seconds when establishing UDP-based connections from Windows 11, version 24H2 devices to RDS deployments running versions Windows Server 2016 or earlier. Resulting from this issue, users might experience frequent disconnections from their Remote Desktop and RDS sessions.
Status: Resolved
Resolution: This issue was resolved by Windows updates released March 27, 2025 (KB5053656), and later. If you are using an update released before March 27, 2025, and have this issue, your IT administrators can resolve this issue by installing and configuring the special Group Policy listed below. The special Group Policy can be found in Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows 11 24H2 and Windows Server 2025 KB5053598 250314_20401 Known Issue Rollback.
Users can download the required group policy from this link.
You will need to install and configure the Group Policy for your version of Windows to resolve this issue. You will also need to restart your device(s) to apply the group policy setting. Note that the Group Policy will temporarily disable the change causing this issue.
ISSUE: Remote Desktop might Freeze after Installing the January 2025 Preview Update
Date: March 25, 2025
Details: After installing the January 2025 Windows preview update (KB5050094), released January 21, 2025, and later updates, on Windows 11, version 24H2 devices, you might experience Remote Desktop sessions freezing shortly after connection. When this issue occurs, mouse and keyboard input become unresponsive within the session, requiring users to disconnect and reconnect.
Status: Resolved
Resolution: This issue was resolved in the February 2025 Windows preview update (KB5052093) available for Windows 11, version 24H2.
ISSUE: Asphalt 8 might Periodically Stop Responding
Date: March 19, 2025
Details: After installing Windows 11, version 24H2, you might face issues with Asphalt 8 (Airborne). The game might stop responding with an exception while you are using or exiting it, and you will have to restart the game to recover from the exception.
To safeguard users update experience, Microsoft has applied a compatibility hold on devices using Asphalt 8. These devices will not be offered to install Windows 11, version 24H2 via the Windows Update release channel. IT administrators using Windows Update for Business reports can check this issue using its safeguard ID: 52796746.
Status: Resolved
Resolution: This issue has been resolved. The safeguard hold (ID 52796746) that was previously in place for this issue has been lifted.
ISSUE: Disk Cleanup might Incorrectly Report Space Available for Cleanup
Date: March 14, 2025
Details: After using the Windows Disk Cleanup application, it may display an incorrect amount of disk space that can be freed up in the ‘Windows Update Cleanup’ category. Please note this is a reporting error. When ‘Windows Update Cleanup’ is selected and Disk Cleanup is run for the first time, some or all files in that category (for example, 15 GB) are cleaned up correctly and the related disk space is freed as expected. However, after this initial run, the tool may inaccurately report an amount of space still available for cleanup (for example, 88 GB) in the ‘Windows Update Cleanup’ category. This inaccurate amount of disk space is reported even though the space was already freed in the initial run.
Status: Resolved
Resolution: Windows updates released October 24, 2024 (KB5044384) and later include improvements to the Windows Disk Cleanup tool which address some of the causes for incorrect estimates. Microsoft will continue to improve the accuracy of the free space estimates provided by the Disk Cleanup application in future Windows updates.

Since the release of Windows 11 on June 24, 2022, Windows users, Insiders, professional IT websites, and Windows service providers have been engaged in discussions surrounding the topic. Key talking points include the new design, features, the minimum system requirements for Windows 11, how to download and install it, known issues, and bugs, among others.
On July 8, 2022, Microsoft released the second build, Windows 11 Build 22000.65. Unlike the first build, 22000.51, which was full of bugs and issues, this new build fixes some known problems in Windows 11. Of course, as a beta build, it still has its fair share of known issues. Fortunately, these bugs aren’t major problems in Windows 11, and most have workarounds.
Notable known issues in Windows 11:
- This PC isn’t capable of running Windows 11
- Start menu — Unable to enter text
- Taskbar — Green flashing present
- File Explorer — Displays the old Windows 10 layout or fails to appear, crashes
- Settings — Unable to launch, green flashing occurs
- Search — Not functioning or search panel doesn’t open
- Widgets — Appears empty or displays incorrectly on external monitors
- Microsoft Store — Malfunctioning, unable to rate and review some apps
- Windows Security Center — Doesn’t support Preview Experience members, unexpected closures
Aside from the above issues, a number of bugs have also been reported on computers running the Windows 11 Insider Build. Most of them are minor and tolerable.
How to Fix Known Issues and Bugs in Windows 11 (3 Methods)
Please note that most known issues might cause some problems on your current version of Windows 11. Microsoft is fixing these issues and bugs in newer versions.
Here, we gathered three troubleshooting methods to fix all known issues and bugs in Windows 11. Choose one and follow the steps accordingly:
- Roll back to Windows 10 from Windows 11 — Maintain a stable operating system
- Send feedback to Microsoft — Assist developers in fixing issues and problems in the new version
- Fix known issues with Windows 11 — Address and resolve issues on your own
#1. Downgrading from Windows 11 to Windows 10
Please note that Windows 11 has a 10-day rollback feature in case you find your computer is not quite compatible with the new OS, or you’re simply not happy with it.
To do so, you can refer directly to the instructions here for assistance:
Step 1: Go to “Settings,” then click on “System” and “Reset options.”
Step 2: Click Go back to the previous version of Windows.
Step 3. If prompted, check the reason for uninstallation.
Step 4: When asked if you want to check for updates instead of restoring, tap No, thanks.
5. When the _Ready to Install_ window appears, click Next to continue.
Step 6: When it warns you to remember your Windows 10 password, click Next again. (Remember your password.)
Step 7: Click on Revert to an earlier version.
Your system will now restart and go through the recovery process, which might take a few minutes. When it’s done, you’ll be back at Windows 10.
#2 Send feedback to Microsoft through the Insider channel
Microsoft now lets Windows users report feedback on their machines, whether they’re running the new Windows 11 or the mature Windows 10. As long as your current operating system is still in support, you can report bugs or known issues to the Microsoft support team.
If any of these mistakes or issues are significant, or if they are one of the main problems with the current operating system, you can help fix them by:
Step 1: On your computer, go to the Feedback Hub.
Press Windows+F to open it.
Step 2: In the left pane, click Feedback, and then under All Feedback, click Add new feedback.
Step 3: Enter your feedback. Briefly summarize the issue and provide any additional details, then click «Next» to proceed.
Step 4: Choose a category, then click Next.
Select Feedback Category
Step 5: Search for similar feedback. The system will list similar feedback for you.
If you have a related feedback entry, select it and add more details to your issue. If not, choose New Feedback, and then choose Next.
Step 6: Add more details about your current issue in the fourth position.
For more guidance, see How to give great feedback to Microsoft .
#3. Fix Known Issues in Windows 11 Manually
As all the known issues persist, Microsoft is focusing on fixing bugs and known issues in the new builds. So, we have compiled a list of some major known issues that are currently bothering Windows 11 Insider users. If you encounter one or two issues, you can try fixing them with the workarounds mentioned below:
- This PC doesn’t meet the requirements to run Windows 11.
The message “This PC can’t run Windows 11” is one that Windows 10 users may see when they run the PC Health Check tool to determine whether their machine meets the minimum system requirements for the new operating system.
This could be due to certain hardware issues, such as the TPM 2.0 requirement, as well as software that needs to be enabled, like Secure Boot. The good news is that most hardware and software issues can be resolved. You can refer to this page for a complete guide on how to fix this issue: This PC can’t run Windows 11.
- BEGIN — Unable to input text

- «Windows Security» indicates «Standard hardware security is not supported» and unexpectedly closes for Insider Preview users
This means your device doesn’t support Memory Integrity or Core Isolation, and it might also have the following limitations:
- No support for TPM 2.0
- Secure Boot is disabled
- Data Execution Prevention (DEP) enabled
- UEFI Secure Boot MAT not enabled
You have two options to fix this: 1) report the bug to Microsoft; or 2) use a stable operating system, perhaps reverting back to Windows 10.
