Windows 10 Consumer и Business в чем отличия?

Юбилейная ОС Microsoft Windows 10 помимо стандартных вариаций Home, Pro, Education, Enterprise делится еще и на 2 вида сборников релизов Business Edition и Consumer Edition. Так в чем же разница? Давайте разберемся.

Во-первых, нужно отметить, что начиная с Windows 10 Microsoft ушла от выпуска разнообразных редакций свой ОС отдельными дистрибутивами. Если раньше каждый дистрибутив от Home до Enterprise был представлен отдельным образом или диском, то теперь есть всего 2 сборника дистрибутивов — Business и Consumer Edition.

Отличия их состоят как раз в наборах редакций. Большинство из них перекликается, но есть и отличия. Давайте сравним окна выбора редакции на примере Windows 10 1903 x86 каждого сборника:

По этим скриншотам видно, что наборы отличаются всего 3-я строками.

В сборнике Consumer Edition присутствуют редакции «Домашняя» и «Домашняя для одного языка», но отсутствует корпоративная редакция.

В Business Edition же присутствует корпоративная редакция и отсутствуют домашние.

Это объясняется тем, что сборник Business Edition ориентирован на корпоративный сегмент и позволяет использовать VL лицензии Microsoft, в то время как Consumer Edition предназначен для частных лиц и позволяет использовать самый низкий уровень лицензии Home.

Windows 10 Enterprise

Windows 10 Enterprise рассчитана на корпоративное применение. Она включает в себя тот же набор инструментов, что и Windows Pro. Но, помимо этого, редакция Enterprise предоставляет доступ к обновлениям Long-Term Service Branch (LTSB). Это означает, что на ваш компьютер будут устанавливаться только проверенные и самые стабильные обновления, к тому же вы сможете откладывать их получение.

В Windows 10 Enterprise отсутствуют универсальные приложения вроде «Почты», «Календаря», «Карт» и других. Кроме того, на устройства с такой операционной системой не устанавливаются рекламные приложения.

Windows 10 Education

Это редакция Windows 10 для образовательных учреждений. В общем и целом она похожа на Windows 10 Enterprise, но в ней отсутствует возможность присоединиться к каналу обновлений LTSB. Упор в этой редакции Windows делается на предоставление инструментов для студентов и преподавателей.

Здесь есть приложение для настройки учебных компьютеров и инструмент для проведения тестов и экзаменов. Кроме того, пользователи Windows 10 Education получают доступ к образовательному разделу магазина Microsoft Store.

Версия доступна только через академическое лицензирование. Вам придётся сначала установить Windows 10 Home или Pro, а затем обновиться до Education.

Кому выбрать: владельцам академических учреждений. Ориентация на образовательные приложения обычным пользователям точно ни к чему.

Windows 10 S

Строго говоря, Windows 10 S — это не редакция, а особый режим для Windows 10 Home или Pro, который вы можете включить, если у вас вдруг возникнет такое желание. Он доступен также в редакциях Enterprise и Education.

В Windows 10 S ограничен набор доступных приложений. Вы можете использовать только те варианты, которые устанавливаются из Microsoft Store. Просматривать страницы в интернете здесь можно только через браузер Edge. Благодаря таким ограничениям Windows 10 S значительно легче и быстрее полноценных версий ОС, но вам придётся работать только с теми инструментами, что предлагает в своём магазине Microsoft.

Этот режим чаще всего применяется на планшетах и ноутбуках-трансформерах.

Кому выбрать: Windows 10 S используют те, на чьих устройствах она уже установлена. Конечно, вы можете установить её где захотите, но приготовьтесь столкнуться с рядом ограничений.

Question

I posted this question here but was told this would be the better place for it.

I’ve seen this post, however, I still don’t quite understand the differences.

With my VS Pro subscription I can download Pro editions for both Windows 10 (business edition) and Windows 10 (consumer edition).

I thought the Pro part indicated the functionality included. I’ve read that business or consumer indicates the licensing scheme? Is that correct? Does the business edition include special functionality related to bulk licensing servers, etc?

For your question about why we need business iso and consumer iso, it should be that if you have volume licenses, you need to use business iso, and if you use the retail licenses you need to use consumer iso.

But for people with VS Pro who are able to download both isos for testing/dev purposes this shouldn’t matter. I guess Microsoft give us the option to download both for completeness sake I assume. There must be something slightly different about them under-the-hood. Probably doesn’t matter.

Различие редакций Windows 10

Многие пользователи, наверное, замечали отличия редакций Windows 10 с буквами в конце обозначения версий системы.

Буква «N» добавляется к редакциям Windows 10, выпущенных для стран Европейского Союза. Название редакций имеют такой вид: Windows 10 Home N, Windows 10 Pro N, Windows 10 Enterprise N и т. д. Отличие от стандартных версий в том, что в этих версиях, по требованию ЕС, отсутствуют некоторые приложения (музыка Groove, Windows Media Player, Кино и ТВ), которые можно добавить в ОС самостоятельно.

Буквы «KN» добавляется к версиям системы для Южной Кореи. Здесь отсутствуют те же самые приложения. Обозначение версий выглядит следующим образом: Windows 10 Enterprise KN, Windows 10 Pro KN, Windows 10 Home KN и т. д.

Для Китая выпущена специальная версия Windows 10 China Government Edition для использования в государственных учреждениях.

Буквенные сочетания «VL», «OEM», «COEM», «GGK», «GGWA», «FPP» обозначают типы лицензий для Windows.

Microsoft is ‘trying’ to make this easy. Unfortunately they’ve used the wrong lingo in what understandings people have of said lingo.

Business Edition upgrades don’t have to do with how you’re using Windows 10 – in a business setting, using Pro, Pro for Workstations, Enterprise, or Education versions.

Consumer Edition upgrades don’t have to do with if you’re running Windows 10 at home, using Home Edition or using a Pro license.

So What’s The Difference?

It has to do with the METHOD of installation  (OEM, Retail, USB Media from the Media Creation Tool, Volume) vs the Windows 10 version (Home/Pro/Enterprise/Education)

Business edition upgrades apply to Volume Media installations. This could be a Pro, Pro for Workstations, Enterprise, or Education edition, but is always created from a Volume media license and usually is done for scale deployment methods (SCCM, KACE, WDS, PDQ Deploy, etc).

Consumer Editions apply to OEM/Retail/USB Media installations from the Media Creation Tool. This could be Home, Pro, Pro for Workstations, Enterprise, Education editions.

How Can My Enterprise License Be Considered a Consumer Edition For Upgrades?

Here are some examples of how different scenarios can be different editions for upgrades that you would normally not think they would be.

• If you buy a system from a Manufacturer that contains an OEM version of Windows Pro, and you upgrade to Enterprise by changing the key – it’s still a consumer edition.
• If you buy a system from a Manufacturer that contains an OEM version of Pro and you wipe and load a volume licensed version of Pro – it’s a business edition.
• If you buy a system from a Manufacturer that contains an OEM version of Home and you upgrade it to Pro by changing the key – it’s still a consumer edition.
• If you buy a system from a Manufacturer that contains an OEM version of Home and you buy a Retail version of Pro and wipe and reload making it Pro – it’s a consumer edition.
• If you buy a system from a Manufacturer that had Windows 7 Pro installed. You purchased volume licenses of Windows 10 as you missed the Free Upgrade period which expired in 2016. You then wiped and installed Windows 10 Pro using USB media from the Media Creation tool, and activated it with a MAK or KMS key – it’s a consumer edition.
• If you buy a system from a Manufacturer that had Windows 7 Pro installed. You purchased volume licenses of Windows 10 as you missed the Free Upgrade period which expired in 2016. You then wiped and installed Windows 10 Pro using USB media from the downloaded volume licensed version, and activated it with a MAK or KMS key – it’s a business edition.

With it, they will be more productive and have more fun thanks to a long list of new innovations: Cortana, the world’s most personal digital assistant; the new Microsoft Edge web browser; Continuum tablet mode for touch-capable devices; Windows Hello face-recognition, iris and fingerprint login; and right out of the box, a broad range of universal Windows apps like Photos, Maps, Mail, Calendar, Music and Video*.

We are also bringing the Xbox gaming experience to Windows 10, giving games and gamers access to the Xbox Live gaming community, enabling the capture and share of gameplay and giving Xbox One owners the ability to play their Xbox One games from any Windows 10 PC in their home.

Windows 10 Mobile is designed to deliver the best user experience on smaller, mobile, touch-centric devices like smartphones and small tablets. It boasts the same, new universal Windows apps that are included in Windows 10 Home, as well as the new touch-optimized version of Office. Windows 10 Mobile offers great productivity, security and management capabilities for customers who use their personal devices at work. In addition, Windows 10 Mobile will enable some new devices to take advantage of Continuum for phone, so people can use their phone like a PC when connected to a larger screen.

Windows 10 Pro is a desktop edition for PCs, tablets and 2-in-1s. Building upon both the familiar and innovative features of Windows 10 Home, it has many extra features to meet the diverse needs of small businesses. Windows 10 Pro helps to effectively and efficiently manage their devices and apps, protect their sensitive business data, support remote and mobile productivity scenarios and take advantage of cloud technologies. Windows 10 Pro devices are a great choice for organizations supporting Choose Your Own Device (CYOD) programs and prosumer customers. Windows 10 Pro also lets customers take advantage of the new Windows Update for Business, which will reduce management costs, provide controls over update deployment, offer quicker access to security updates and provide access to the latest innovation from Microsoft on an ongoing basis.

As we announced earlier this year, for the first time ever, we are offering the full versions of Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Mobile and Windows 10 Pro as a free and easy upgrade for qualifying Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices that upgrade in the first year after launch.** Once you upgrade, you have Windows 10 for free on that device.

Windows 10 Enterprise builds on Windows 10 Pro, adding advanced features designed to meet the demands of medium and large sized organizations. It provides advanced capabilities to help protect against the ever-growing range of modern security threats targeted at devices, identities, applications and sensitive company information. Windows 10 Enterprise also supports the broadest range of options for operating system deployment and comprehensive device and app management. It will be available to our Volume Licensing customers, so they can take advantage of the latest innovation and security updates on an ongoing basis. At the same time, they will be able to choose the pace at which they adopt new technology, including the option to use the new Windows Update for Business. With Windows 10, Enterprise customers will also have access to the Long Term Servicing Branch as a deployment option for their mission critical devices and environments. And as with prior versions of Windows, Active Software Assurance customers in Volume Licensing can upgrade to Windows 10 Enterprise as part of their existing Software Assurance benefits.

Windows 10 Education builds on Windows 10 Enterprise, and is designed to meet the needs of schools – staff, administrators, teachers and students. This edition will be available through academic Volume Licensing, and there will be paths for schools and students using Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro devices to upgrade to Windows 10 Education.

Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise is designed to deliver the best customer experience to business customers on smartphones and small tablets. It will be available to our Volume Licensing customers. It offers the great productivity, security and mobile device management capabilities that Windows 10 Mobile provides, and adds flexible ways for businesses to manage updates. In addition, Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise will incorporate the latest security and innovation features as soon as they are available.

There will also be versions of Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise for industry devices like ATMs, retail point of sale, handheld terminals and industrial robotics and Windows 10 IoT Core for small footprint, low cost devices like gateways.
