Microsoft has chosen the most professional way to bid the year adieu: Compiling and completing Windows 10 Build 15000.
Microsoft has temporarily suspended the Windows Insider beta program during the holiday season but this was not going to stop them in any way from internally testing Windows 10-related work. In fact, because of diligent engineers, the Windows 10 build 15000 was released internally a few days ago.
Still, this does not mean the build released is in its finest form. As always, we are expecting some minor bugs and glitches because most testing engineers are on holiday. This is a prominent milestone set by the company after the previous big release, Build 10000, two years ago. So, apart from highlighting two years of dedication of the Windows team, the build does not bring anything revolutionary to the table.
The Windows Insider beta plan will be restarted in January, so it is going to be one hell of a one busy month for the company. As Microsoft’s team will be diligently working on perfecting Build 15000, adding major performance improvements and bug fixes. Speaking of next year, it is going to have some of the most exciting changes we have seen in a while, one of them being the completion of the Creators Update that Microsoft is all set to unveil in spring. Windows 10 Creators update’s final version is 1703 and will bring a series of improvements for smart phones and PCs.
Insiders can expect to see quite a few new additions in the coming months that might involve some UI improvements and enterprise features. Following that will be yet another major Windows 10 update.
Redstone 3 is expected to be a game changer and bring significant enhancements such as ARM64 emulation for x86 apps.
So, all in all, Build 15000 is a momentous landmark for the company, but there is a lot more to come our way in 2017.

Microsoft has surpassed another incredible build milestone internally today, as we’re hearing build 15000 of Windows has been compiled. It’s been almost 2 years since the company compiled build 10000, which was arguably the last huge build number milestone Windows had surpassed.
Now, for those paying close attention, you’ll already know build 15000 isn’t exactly an accurate number for the amount of Windows builds ever compiled. Microsoft have been known to jump builds in the past, making build 15000 not a true count of build creations. Regardless, build 15000 has now been compiled and is being flighted internally at Microsoft.
Although a huge milestone (number wise) for the company, we’re told build 15000 doesn’t include any noteworthy changes or features, which is to be expected considering it’s the holiday’s and most people working on Windows are home with their families. With that in mind, build 15000 likely won’t see itself flighted to Insiders, as the Insider program is on a bit of a break right now. In the new year however, normal build flighting will resume.
We’re about 3/4 way through the development cycle of the Creators Update at this point, meaning in the new year Microsoft will begin finalizing code and start signing off on features and enhancements that are scheduled to show up in the next public release. We’re still expecting a few user-interface improvements and new features to show up for Insiders before the company is ready to sign off, and with only a couple months left of development, those changes should begin popping up very soon.
It’s an exciting time for Windows Insiders, as 2017 will be packed with lots of new builds, spanning across two different Windows 10 releases and featuring a lot of new changes. Make sure you stay tuned at Windows Central for more news regarding Windows 10, the Insider Program and builds!

Build 15000 has no huge changes, but highlights two years of dedication from the Windows team, and the significant role of the Insider program.
It’s been a big year for Windows 10, and a huge year for Microsoft. However, the company isn’t done quite yet, and is seeing out the year with the celebration of Windows 10 build 15000.
Microsoft has compiled the build internally, reaching the biggest milestone since 10000 two years ago. Though the number doesn’t reflect the exact number of releases, it still shows significant progress.
No Noteworthy Changes
According to Windows Central, the update doesn’t include any huge features. That’s to be expected given the Insider team’s holiday break. This release won’t be coming to Insiders until 2017, then, but will be tested internally in the meantime.
Speaking of next year, it’s going to have some of the most exciting changes we’ve seen in a while. Microsoft is nearing completion of the Creators Update, which is set for release in spring.
Insiders can expect to see quite a few new features in the coming months, including some UI improvements and enterprise features.
After that, Microsoft has promised yet another major Windows 10 update. Redstone 3 may have major breakthroughs such as ARM64 emulation for x86 apps.
This would fix one of the major issues with Continuum – the inability to runs apps that aren’t UWP. Emulation of x86 apps on ARM processors would let users have a true desktop experience.
This could have a lot of potential for businesses. Continuum lets employees use their mobile phone as a desktop computer, which offers more portability and likely less cost. ARM emulation would take away one of the biggest reasons companies are reluctant to make the switch.
So, although Build 15000 is a huge milestone, Microsoft has plenty more to come. Ones that work are useful in practice, rather than just in number. It will be exciting to see what other surprises are in store.

Microsoft is now testing Windows 10 Creators Update build 15000 for PC and build 10.0.15000.1000 for mobile devices. The build 15000 was compiled recently. There is no new feature in this build, just minor improvements over previous builds.
However, insiders might not receive PC build 15000 or mobile build 10.0.15000.1000, as the company will release next insider build in 2017. Microsoft may release build 15005 or build 15007 for Insiders in first or second week of January 2017.
Meanwhile, Microsoft released Windows 10 update kb3213522 build 14393.577 for PC and mobile build 10.0.14393.576. Also, cumulative update KB3206309 build 14986.1001 is now available for Insiders members.

What’s new in Windows 10 PC build 14986
What’s in Mobile build 10.0.14977.1000
