Сегодня мы представляем вам новый билд Windows 10 Technical Preview для персональных компьютеров и планшетов – 10061. Эта версия будет доступна для пользователей системы обновлений Fast Ring в Центре обновления Windows. Что касается пользователей системы обновлений Slow Ring, мы решили не привлекать их к тестированию билда 10049 по причине проблемы, замедляющей обновление системы из-за установки всех языковых пакетов. Мы планируем проанализировать отзывы участников Fast Ring на билд 10061, прежде чем решать, предоставлять ли данную версию участникам Slow Ring. Случай с языковыми пакетами наглядно демонстрирует смысл деления участников Программы предварительной оценки Windows Insider на две группы, а также распределение ролей между ними.

Тем участникам Fast Ring, кто установил себе билд 10049, мы рекомендуем выполнить следующие шаги по освобождению места на диске от лишних языков пакетов.

Что входит в билд 10061

Обновленные приложения Почта и Календарь. Новые, усовершенствованные приложения со знакомым трехпанельным пользовательским интерфейсом почты и переключателем, позволяющим быстро переключаться между Почтой и Календарем. В настойках Почты можно задать жесты (провести влево или вправо), с помощью которых будут выполняться определенные действия, например, удаление, выделение или перемещение писем. Почта предлагает также новые функциональные возможности при создании писем, используя обширные и хорошо знакомые пользователю функции приложения Word. Благодаря этому можно легко использовать в тексте письма маркированные списки, выделение цветом, вставлять графические изображения и таблицы. И Почта, и Календарь работают с учетными записями Office 365, Exchange, Outlook.com, Gmail и другими популярными почтовыми сервисами с поддержкой протоколов IMAP и POP.

Усовершенствованы меню Пуск, Панель задач и Центр действий. В новом билде можно задать новую черную цветовую тему для меню Пуск, Панели задачи и Центра уведомлений, а также менять размер меню Пуск. Можно также сделать меню Пуск и Панель задач прозрачными. Помимо этого, мы добавили функцию AutoColor, позволяющую автоматически подстраивать их цвета под цвет рабочего стола. Цвета и прозрачность меню Пуск, Панели задач и Центра уведомлений можно задать в настройках в разделе Персонализация. Нам интересны ваши отзывы об этих новых функциях. Кстати, в новой версии мы учли замечания участников программы и перенесли кнопку Питание из верхнего правого в нижний левый угол меню Пуск, чтобы она была расположена удобнее для пользователя.

Усовершенствован режим Continuum. Панель задач в новой версии лучше оптимизирована под планшеты. При активации режима планшета кнопки Пуск, Поиск и Представление задач увеличиваются в размерах, чтобы их удобнее было нажимать. С этой же целью увеличиваются значки сообщений в Центре уведомлений. Помимо этого, с Панели задач по умолчанию убираются закрепленные на ней и работающие значки приложений, чтобы не загромождать панель и не отвлекать пользователя. При этом кнопки Пуск и Представление задач остаются на виду. Те, кто предпочитает, чтобы значки приложений отражались на Панели задач, может выбрать соответствующий режим в настройках в разделе Режим планшета. Мы также добавили настройку, позволяющую напрямую загружать систему в планшетном режиме. Данный вариант установлен по умолчанию для планшетов с диагональю менее 10 дюймов.

Усовершенствована функция Представление задач. Мы доработали ряд графических элементов Представление задач – иконки окон, кнопки закрытия окна и эскизы. Данные усовершенствования касаются также использования быстрых клавиш Alt+Tab и функции Snap Assist. Кроме этого, значок Представление задач появится на Панели задач.

Усовершенствована функция виртуального рабочего стола. В новой версии пользователь может по своему усмотрению создать неограниченное число виртуальных рабочих столов. По достижении предельной вместимости экрана можно вызвать любой из ваших виртуальных рабочих столов при помощь новой функции Overflow. Не забудьте, что нам по-прежнему нужны ваши отзывы, чтобы определить параметры работы Панели задач по умолчанию на различных рабочих столах.

В нынешнем билде устранены следующие проблемы:

Исправлена не работавшая ранее индексация новых входящих писем в Outlook.
Устранена проблема, не позволявшая пользователю активировать Hyper-V.
Visual Studio больше не будет закрываться при попытке создать новый проект в приложении Universal.

Включенная в нынешний билд версия приложений Почта и Календарь (17.4008.42281.0) имеет проблему, из-за которой при наборе текста каждая буква отображается дважды. Это было бы даже забавно, если бы не раздражало. Мы исправили данную проблему в обновленной версии этих приложений (17.4016.42291.0), которую можно скачать через Магазин Windows (бета-версия). Если не открывать почту и календарь в течение первых 15 минут после входа в систему в первый раз после ее обновления, то при наличии подключения к Интернету эти приложения должны обновиться до новой версии автоматически. Можно также в любой момент самостоятельно открыть Магазин Windows (бета-версия) и запросить обновления.
Персональный помощник Cortana выделяет в меню задачи, с которыми он может помочь пользователю. Однако пока что не все из этих функций действительно доступны. В настоящее время мы работаем над этим, и скоро они должны заработать.
Во время входа/выхода из системы перед вами может предстать черный экран, на котором будет виден только курсор мыши. Мы устраним эту проблему при помощи исправления, которое скоро появится в Центре обновления Windows.
В приложениях Xbox Music и Music Preview в настоящее время не действует функция скачивания музыки. Соответствующее исправление также скоро появится в Центре обновления Windows.
Приложение, проигрывающее аудиофайлы, может прекращать играть, если вы сворачиваете его окно во время воспроизведения.
В браузере Project Spartan при попытке выделить текст в адресной строке текст не выделяется. Можно обойти эту проблему, кликнув на адресную строку правой кнопкой мыши и выбрав команду Вырезать/Скопировать/Вставить. Для этой проблемы тоже скоро выйдет исправление в Центре обновлений Windows.
Экранная лупа не работает в закрепленном режиме. На этот счет у нас также готовится исправление в Центре обновлений Windows.

On Wednesday, Microsoft released a new preview of Windows 10 (build 10061) to the fast lane with a lot of changes since build 10049. However, it’s only a minor improvement of build 10056, which leaked outside of Redmond’s headquarters several days ago.

Instead of listing what’s new in Windows 10 build 10061 since build 10056, we’re going to be looking for the new official changes since build 10049. That will give Windows Insiders a better picture of what’s going on.

Below there is a list of all the changes found in Windows 10 build 10061:

Start menu

In the Start menu, you will notice that Microsoft has moved the power options (Sleep, Shutdown, and Restart) above the All apps button. The updated menu has by default two columns of Live Tiles hinting that now users can resize the Start menu by simply stretching the corners.

Groups are now a lot easier to manage and rename. You can also move groups around the Start menu, but it seems that there is a bug causing the menu to crash.

Also at times, if you click the Start button and move the mouse cursor away will cause the taskbar to hide for one second.

When clicking the All Apps button, you’ll now see a list of recent apps at the top with a button to clear the listing. In addition, when in All Apps, users will notice a new left-arrow icon indicating users how to return to the Start menu.

Tiles for desktop applications no longer use the color from the icon, but they take the scheme color from Windows.

Microsoft is also adding a new option on the Personalization page to disable transparency, and there support for AutoColor, which pulls the primary color from the desktop wallpaper.

Another noticeable change in Windows 10 build 10061 is that users can now drag and drop tiles on the taskbar or desktop, creating shortcut links.

Taskbar

In Windows 10 build 10061, Microsoft is not only enabling transparency for the Start menu, but for the taskbar and the Action Center too.

A new Windows Defender icon appears in the notification area, and Microsoft has also enabled the new calendar and digital clock when clicking the time.

Task View

On Task View, Microsoft has refined the window icon, the close button, and the thumbnails. The improvements also appear in the Alt + Tab and Snap Assist, and the Task View gets a new icon.

Virtual Desktops

Now the Virtual Desktops supports unlimited desktops, and users will notice a new animation effect creating new virtual desktops. There is also a new experience to access virtual desktops after hitting the limit of the display.

Tablet Mode

Tablet Mode now is more optimized for touch-enabled devices. In build 10061, enabling Tablet Mode will cause the Start button, Cortana, and the Task View buttons to adjust their size and space out to be more comfortable with touch. Items in the system tray will also get more space out to improve «touchability».

Users will see that entering to Tablet Mode will cause all the pinned and running apps to disappear from the taskbar to remove clutter. However, users can launch new apps from the Start menu and access running apps from Task View.

For those who want to see the pinned and running apps in the taskbar when in Tablet Mode they can now change the settings in the Settings app. Furthermore, now there is an option in Settings to boot directly into Tablet Mode.

When in Tablet Mode, Snap features a new divider similar the one we see today in Windows 8.1 when snapping apps side-by-side.

Cortana

In Windows 10 build 10061, Cortana receives two new options: Find Song and Help.

Find Song works in the same way as the Shazam app.

Help aims to help users learn how to command Cortana.

Apps included in Windows 10 build 10061

The new version of the operating system bundles several new apps too. These apps include the new Music Preview and Video Preview, the new Outlook and Outlook Calendar apps (which is worth pointing out that these two apps were first spotted in build 10051). The Outlook apps also include new options to add different types of account (Exchange, Google, iCloud, POP and IMAP, and Advanced setup).

In addition, Microsoft is officially introducing a new Weather, News, Sports, and Money apps. For more information about these apps, you can check my previous write-up.

The new build of Windows 10 also bundles a new Microsoft Solitaire Collection Preview with a fresh new UI, and the app is now universal.

Windows 10 build 10061 includes the new Microsoft Family app to help parents configure parental control. We can also see a new People app and Windows Spotlight app, but all of these apps appear not to be working at this time.

Settings app

Since build 10056 and in build 10061, Windows 10 shows various improvements happening the Settings app. For example, Microsoft is now moving the Display and Personalization configurations to the Settings app.

Microsoft is also removing the Screen resolution option from the right-click contextual menu in favor of the Display settings, which will take users to the new Display page in the Settings app. If you prefer, you can still access the display settings via the Control Panel, but we’re not sure for how long the option will be available.

Another big change is happening in the Personalization page, which now includes four new sections: Background, Colors, Lock screen, and Themes.

The most interesting setting in Personalization is Colors that offers the options to disable or enable transparency and the new dark theme across the Start menu, taskbar, and Action Center.

It’s worth mentioning that the new Personalization settings were also spotted in Windows 10 build 10056, but in build 10061 is when the settings actually work and do not crash the Settings app anymore.

Microsoft also is enabling offline maps and the ability to check for an update in Maps.

The Settings app also offers three options to enable different Tablet Mode behaviors. These modes include «Immediately enter to Tablet Mode», «Take me to the desktop» (default), and «Keep the mode I was in previously». And there is an option to hide apps icons on the taskbar when in Tablet Mode. (These settings were also first spotted in build 10056.)

In the Devices sections now there is a Printers & Scanners section, which as the name implies is the place that users will go to install a new printer or scanners. Microsoft also offers a toggle to disable downloads of drivers or device software in metered connections to avoid extra charges.

Privacy adds two new settings: Radios to let users control if apps can run Wi-Fi or Bluetooth automatically to send and receive data.

Account info let users control if apps can access name, picture, and other account information.

Update & recovery in build 10061 features a new «For developers» option. However, we still cannot confirm the purpose of this app just yet.

Project Spartan

Internet Explorer successor, Project Spartan, includes a few improvements in this new release of Windows 10:

The new browser has a new version 0.11
Users can find the downloads in the download manager
Users can open a website with Internet Explorer from Spartan
The «Add to» dialog has been refined
Users can now save PDF opened in Project Spartan
Microsoft enabled the «about:flags» page with new options
There is a number of improvements to the EDGE rendering engine

These new improvements haven’t changed since build 10051, but they are new for those coming from 10049.

Wrapping things app

Microsoft recently announced new changes were coming to the Xbox app for Windows 10, and it requires users to be running build 10061 to enable most of the new features. The update for the app doesn’t come included in this build, but Microsoft has just released the update through the Store (beta). This update includes Game DVR for PC games, screenshots, Live Tiles, user profile update, new media controls, Xbox controller drivers, and a lot more.

Oh! And let’s not forget that there is a new Recycle Bin icon!

For those who have been running Windows 10 build 10049 will find that build 10061 has a bunch of new features and improvements. Those who have been running the leaked version (build 10056) will only notice just a few refinements. In either case users will find that Microsoft still has a lot of work to do if they want to launch Windows 10 sometime in the summer. The build still buggy and a lot of things don’t work.

Hi everyone,

Today we are releasing a new Technical Preview build for PCs – 10061. This build will be available to the Fast ring, and will be delivered via Windows Update. You can wait for your PCs normal installation time for Windows Updates and it will install automatically, or you can go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Updates and click the “Check for updates” button.

If you’re in the Slow ring, we made the decision not to push 10049 out to you because of the bug with long upgrade times caused by installing all Language Packs. We’ll evaluate how 10061 goes in the Fast ring before deciding whether to push it out to Slow as well. The Language Pack issue is a good example of our approach to the Fast/Slow rings for the Windows Insider Program, and why we have two rings.

For Fast ring Insiders who installed 10049, we recommend that you follow these steps to reclaim storage space from the extra Language Pack installs.

Here is what’s new in this build

New Mail and Calendar apps: These new apps bring improved performance and a familiar three-pane email UI, with a toggle to quickly move between your email and calendar. Mail includes customizable Swipe Gestures, letting you swipe right or left to take actions like delete, flag, move or mark as read/unread. Also check out the new email authoring experience. Mail leverages the familiar and rich capability of Word to that allows you to easily insert tables, add pictures and use bullets and color to your text. Both the new Mail and Calendar apps support Office 365, Exchange, Outlook.com, Gmail, IMAP, POP and other popular accounts.

Start, Taskbar, and Action Center improvements: This build introduces the new black system theme across the Start menu, Taskbar, and Action Center. The Start menu and Taskbar now have transparency and you can also resize the Start menu. We’ve also enabled support for AutoColor which pulls the primary color from your desktop background. In the Settings app under Personalization, you can adjust the color of Start, Taskbar, and Action Center as well as transparency. Check these settings out and let us know what you think. And based on your feedback, we have moved the power button to the bottom left from the top right of the Start menu to make it more accessible.

Continuum improvements: The Taskbar is now more optimized for tablets. Entering Tablet Mode causes the Start button, Cortana, and the Task View buttons to all grow in size and space out to be more touchable. Items in the Notification area also widen to improve touchability. Also, pinned and running apps are removed by default to reduce clutter and simplify the experience. Start and Task View remain available for launching and switching. If you still prefer to see apps on your taskbar, there is an option under Tablet Mode in Settings to turn them back on. We also now offer a setting to boot directly into Tablet Mode. For tablets under 10 inches, this is the default behavior.

Task View improvements: We’ve made several visual updates to Task View. We’ve refined the window icons, the close buttons, and the thumbnails. These improvements also apply to Alt+Tab and Snap Assist. Task View gets a new icon on the Taskbar too.

Virtual Desktop improvements: You can create as many Virtual Desktops as you’d like! When you hit the limit of your display, a new overflow experience now lets you access any one of your desktops. Also, don’t forget that we are still eager to hear your feedback to determine the default behavior of the Taskbar across desktops.

Here are some issues we fixed in this build

We have fixed the issue where Indexing of new email in Outlook was not working.
We have fixed the issue with Hyper-V preventing you from enabling it.
Visual Studio will no longer crash when creating a new Universal app project.
We fixed a few issues in Project Spartan. You can now double-click on the titlebar to maximize. We have also made some tweaks to the alignment of the Favorites Bar so that the text and icons no longer appear partially below the bottom of the Favorites Bar.

Here are some known issues for this build

We know this one will be a bit painful but there is a bug with this build in which Win32 (desktop) apps won’t launch from the Start menu. The workaround is to use search to find and launch these apps and pin them to your taskbar for quick access.
The Windows Store Beta (grey tile) and Project Spartan get unpinned after upgrading. You can re-pin them to your Taskbar from All apps on your Start menu.
The version of the Mail and Calendar apps included in this build (17.4008.42281.0) have a known issue that causes every typed letter to appear twice. Which might be funny if it weren’t so irritating. We have fixed this issue with updated versions of the apps (17.4016.42291.0) available in the Windows Store Beta (grey tile). If you don’t open the Mail and Calendar apps within the first 15 minutes after logging in to your device for the first time after upgrading and your device is connected to the Internet, the apps should update automatically. You can also go into the Store Beta and check for updates manually at any time.
Cortana will highlight things it will be able to help users with, but some of these features are not yet implemented and we are working to deliver them soon.
There is a known issue where you might see a black screen with only your mouse cursor during login/logout. We have a fix for this coming via WU.
Downloading music in the Xbox Music and Music Preview apps is currently broken. We also have a fix for this coming via WU.
When you minimize an app playing audio, it may stop playing once its minimized.
In Project Spartan, no selection highlight appears when selecting text in the address box. You can right click in the address box to cut/copy/paste and it will work as expected. We also have a fix for this coming via WU.
Magnifier does not work when you put it into docked mode. We will also have a fix for this coming via WU.
