Windows 11 is a major release of the Windows NT operating system developed by Microsoft that was released in October 2021. Starting with Windows 10, Microsoft described Windows as an «operating system as a service» that would receive ongoing updates to its features and functionality, augmented with the ability for enterprise environments to receive non-critical updates at a slower pace or use long-term support milestones that will only receive critical updates, such as security patches, over their five-year lifespan of mainstream support.

As with Windows 10 (since version 20H2), mainstream builds of Windows 11 are labeled «YYHX», with YY representing the two-digit year and X representing the half-year of planned release (for example, version 21H2 refers to builds which initially released in the second half of 2021).[1]

Version 21H2 (original release)

The original version of Windows 11 (also retroactively named version 21H2 and codenamed «Sun Valley») was released in October 2021.[2][3] It carries the build number 10.0.22000.[4]The first public preview build was made available to Windows Insiders who opted in to the Dev Channel on June 28, 2021. Notable changes in this version include:

  • Redesigned Fluent Design System:[5]
    • Most interfaces in Windows 11 feature rounded geometry, refreshed iconography, new typography, and a refreshed colour palette.[6]
    • Windows 11 also introduces «Mica», a new opaque Material that is tinted with the color of the desktop wallpaper.[7]
  • Significantly redesigned Start menu, adhering to the principles of the updated Fluent Design System.[8]
  • Center-aligned Taskbar, with new animations for pinning, rearranging, minimizing, and switching apps.[8]
  • The File Explorer has been refreshed with the Fluent Design System and the Ribbon interface has been replaced with a new command bar with a revamped user interface and a Mica background. It also introduces revamped context menus with rounded corners, larger text, and Acrylic.
  • New Windows Subsystem for Android.[9]

The update has reached end of service on October 10, 2023 for Home, Pro, Pro Education and Pro for Workstations editions.[10] The Enterprise, Enterprise multi-session, IoT Enterprise and Education editions have reached end of service on October 8, 2024.[11]

Version 22H2 (2022 Update)

The Windows 11 2022 Update[12] (also known as version 22H2[13][14] and codenamed «Sun Valley 2«) is the first major update to Windows 11. It carries the build number 10.0.22621.The first preview was released to Insiders who opted in to the Dev Channel on September 2, 2021.[15] As of build 22449, the version string has been changed from «Dev» to «22H2».

The update began rolling out on September 20, 2022. Notable changes in the 2022 Update include:[16]

  • Redesigned and new Efficiency mode feature in Task Manager
  • Re-added the drag and drop feature on the taskbar
  • Improvement to the snap layout experience
  • New live captions feature
  • New Smart App Control (SAC) feature for blocking untrusted applications
  • Split «Focus assist» feature into «Do not disturb» and «Focus»
  • Included Clipchamp as inbox app

The first component update to Windows 11, version 22H2, codenamed «Moment 1»,[17] was released on October 18, 2022, with build 22621.675 and several further changes:[18]

  • New tabbed browsing feature and refreshed layout of the left navigation pane in the File Explorer
  • New inline suggested actions feature
  • Re-introduced taskbar overflow feature
  • Improvements to the built-in Windows share window
  • Added support of Auto Color Management (ACM) which further optimized for OLED monitors by reading DisplayID data[19]
  • Added support of Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) by reading DisplayID data[20]

The second component update to Windows 11, version 22H2, codenamed «Moment 2»,[21] was released on February 28, 2023, with build 22621.1344 and several further changes:[22]

  • Added iOS support in the Phone Link app
  • New Studio Effects section in the Quick Settings for NPU-compatible devices
  • Redesigned Quick Assist app
  • Added third-party apps support in the Widgets panel
  • Re-introduced tablet-optimized taskbar
  • Added support for tabs in the Notepad app
  • New Braille displays and input/output languages support in Narrator
  • New Energy Recommendations page in the Settings app
  • Updated touch keyboard option in the Settings app
  • New Tamil Anjal keyboard
  • Re-introduced the search box on the taskbar

The third component update to Windows 11, version 22H2, codenamed «Moment 3»,[23] was released on May 24, 2023, with build 22621.1778 and several further changes:[24][25]

  • New presence sensor privacy settings in the Settings app
  • New VPN icon on the taskbar
  • Added the ability to show a notification badge on the Start menu’s user profile icon
  • Introduced live captions in more languages
  • Added the ability to create live kernel memory dumps in Task Manager
  • Introduced Content Adaptive Brightness Control (CABC) to desktop computers and battery powered devices
  • New copy button for copying two-factor authentication codes in notification toasts
  • New USB4 hubs and devices page in the Settings app
  • Re-introduced the new touch keyboard option in the Settings app
  • New multi-app kiosk mode
  • Re-introduced the ability to display seconds in the system clock on the taskbar
  • Adds support for Bluetooth LE Audio and the LC3 codec

The fourth component update to Windows 11, version 22H2, codenamed «Moment 4»,[26] was released on September 26, 2023, with build 22621.2361 and several further changes:[27][28]

  • The availability of Copilot in Windows (in preview)
  • New preview flyout when hovering over files under the Recommended section on the Start menu
  • New volume mixer experience in Quick Settings
  • Re-introduced the ability to never combine taskbar buttons
  • Added the ability to hide the time and date in the system tray
  • Updated notification bell icon in the system tray on the taskbar
  • Modernized Details pane, Home page, address bar and search box in the File Explorer
  • New Gallery feature in File Explorer
  • Added the native support of additional archive file formats (7z, rar, tar)

  • New screen for restoring from backup during the OOBE
  • Improvements to backup and restore experience for desktop apps
  • Added support of Unicode Emoji 15.0
  • Added support of COLRv1 color format
  • New Narrator natural voices in Simplified Chinese, Spanish (Spain and Mexico), Japanese, English (United Kingdom and India), French, Portuguese, German and Korean
  • New text authoring experiences in voice access
  • New Home page in the Settings app
  • Redesigned Windows Security notification dialogs

The fifth component update to Windows 11, version 22H2, codenamed «Moment 5», was released on February 29, 2024, with build 22621.3235.[29][30]

The update has reached end of service on October 8, 2024 for Home, Pro, Pro Education, Pro for Workstations and SE editions.[31] The Enterprise, Enterprise multi-session, IoT Enterprise and Education editions will reach end of service on October 14, 2025.[32]

Version 23H2 (2023 Update)

The Windows 11 2023 Update[33] (also known as version 23H2[34][35] and codenamed «Sun Valley 3«) is the second major update to Windows 11. It was shipped as an enablement package for the «Windows 11 2022 Update», and carries the build number 10.0.22631.The first preview was released to Insiders who opted in to the Beta Channel on May 25, 2023. The update began rolling out on October 31, 2023.[36] New features and changes from «Moment 4» were enabled by default in this update.[37] The version string was changed from «22H2» to «23H2» in build 25375.

Version 24H2 (2024 Update)

The Windows 11 2024 Update[38] (also known as version 24H2, codenamed Hudson Valley[citation needed])[39][40][41] is the third and latest major update to Windows 11. It carries the build number 10.0.26100.The first preview was released to Insiders who opted in to the Canary and Dev Channels on February 8, 2024. The update began rolling out for Copilot Plus PCs on June 15, 2024.[42] As of build 26052, the version string has been changed from «23H2» to «24H2». The update began rolling out to all users on October 1, 2024.[43][41]

Version 24H2 notably introduces the first Windows 11 based Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) editions, along with new subscription variants of IoT Enterprise editions (both LTSC and non-LTSC).[44]

The update will reach end of service on October 13, 2026, for Home, Pro, Pro Education, Pro for Workstations and SE editions.[45] The Enterprise, Enterprise multi-session, IoT Enterprise and Education editions will reach end of service on October 12, 2027.[45] The Enterprise LTSC and IoT Enterprise LTSC editions will reach end of service on October 9, 2029, and October 10, 2034, respectively.[45]

Windows Insider Preview builds are delivered to Insiders in four different channels. Insiders in the Dev and Canary Channel receive updates prior to those in the Beta Channel but might experience more bugs and other issues. Insiders in the Release Preview Channel do not receive updates until the version is almost available to the public but are comparatively more stable.

On February 3, 2022, Microsoft changed its plans on how they delivered builds for Windows Insiders, with Dev and Beta Channels being «parallel» active development branches, giving an option to switch from Dev to Beta Channel for a limited time. The Dev Channel builds are meant for upcoming and experimental features that may never release to general availability, whereas the Beta Channel builds are the «feature complete» builds that will make its way to the general availability for the specific Windows 11 release.[46]

On March 6, 2023, Microsoft announced that the Dev Channel will be rebooted, and existing insiders will be moved to the new Canary Channel.[47][48] Two days later, insiders transitioned from Dev to Canary received the first build in the existing 25000 series builds starting from build 25314[49] while new insiders in the rebooted Dev Channel received the first build in the new 23000 series builds starting from build 23403.[50]

On September 2, 2021, Microsoft announced that Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel will receive builds directly from the rs_prerelease branch, which are not matched to a specific Windows 11 release. The first build released under this strategy, build 22449, was made available to Insiders on the same day.[51]

Aside from the rs_prerelease branch, Insiders in the Dev Channel would receive builds compiled from other branches within certain periods of time: ni_release (builds 22557 to 22616 – 22H2 string in former Dev), ni_prerelease (builds 23403 to 23620 – 22H2 string in rebooted Dev), ge_release (builds 26052 to 26100 and 26120 – 24H2 string) and ge_prerelease (26200 – 24H2 string).

Aside from the rs_prerelease branch, Insiders in the Canary Channel would receive builds compiled from other branches within certain periods of time: zn_release (builds 25352 to 25393 – 23H2 string), ge_release (builds 26052 to 26100 – 24H2 string) and ge_prerelease (build 26200 to 26257 – 24H2 string).

Windows 11 (codenamed Sun Valley) is a personal computer operating system developed by Microsoft and is the latest major release of the Windows NT family, succeeding Windows 10.[2] It was formally announced at 11 a.m. Eastern Time on June 24, 2021.[3] Windows 11 became available as a free upgrade to eligible customers on October 5, 2021, more than six years after its predecessor’s release date and the longest time span between successive releases of Microsoft Windows.[1]

Windows 11 features major changes to the Windows shell influenced by the canceled Windows 10X, including a redesigned Start menu, the replacement of its «live tiles» with a separate «Widgets» panel on the Taskbar, the ability to create tiled sets of windows that can be minimized and restored from the Taskbar as a group, and new gaming technologies inherited from Xbox Series X and Series S such as Auto HDR and DirectStorage on compatible hardware. Internet Explorer (IE) has been replaced by the Chromium-based Microsoft Edge like its predecessor, Windows 10. Microsoft Teams is integrated into the shell. Microsoft also announced plans to allow more flexibility in software that can be distributed via Microsoft Store, and to support Android apps on Windows 11 (including a partnership with Amazon to make its app store available for the function).

Development[]

The UI of the project is codenamed «Sun Valley» and is based on the 21H2 Cobalt development cycle, done in the private, separate co-refresh branch. [4] Online support documents that were published (and withdrawn) in early June 2021 indicated that internal testing of «Windows Sun Valley» was underway at Microsoft.[5] On June 10, Microsoft teased the upcoming release of Windows 11 with a «slo-fi» video that runs exactly 11 minutes long.[6][7]

Leak of developer build[]

A 4GB ISO of the Windows 11 installer for build 21996.1, compiled on May 29, 2021 according to the build number was leaked on June 15, 2021[8] , after some screenshots were leaked on Chinese website Baidu on the same date. Configuration files included with the installer indicated that it could have been made freely available to owners of genuine licenses of Windows 7 and later.[9] The build also includes an ARM binary that allows it to be installed on smartphones that supported Windows 10 Mobile, but the feature set was otherwise incomplete.[10][11]

Official preview releases[]

A Windows Preinstallation Environment build 22000.41 of Windows 11 was released on June 24, 2021 for selected members of the Windows Insider Program.[12] The official preview build 22000.51 became publicly available on June 28.[11] Updated previews of Office began being released to Insiders on July 7, 2021 with a new UI designed to match Windows 11.[13] Starting on September 2, 2021, the Windows Insider channels began receiving different builds, as the Beta Channel was focused on the 21H2 Cobalt release for October 2021, while the Dev Channel was focused on the following 22H1 Nickel release for the first half of 2022.[14] The Windows Subsystem for Android, which allows Android apps to run in Windows 11, became available for testing through the Windows Insider Program on October 20, 2021.[15]

General availability[]

Microsoft announced on August 31, 2021 that Windows 11 would first become available as a free upgrade for customers with new eligible devices on October 5, 2021, though Android support was not ready in time for the first release. A phased rollout would make it available to all other eligible devices in the market by mid-2022.[1][16]

In May 2022, physically packaged versions of Windows 11 began appearing at retailers for the first time. The retail boxes were available in Home and Pro editions. The installation software was contained on a USB flash drive.[17]

Upgrade eligibility[]

Windows 11 Upgrade Experience

Windows 11 became available for free through Windows Update to Windows 10 users that met the minimum system requirements. Users of Windows 7 to 8.1 need to update to 10 first to qualify for the free upgrade.[18] Microsoft confirmed that Windows 11 would be available «this holiday», though tech websites observed dates ranging from October 6 to 20 in sample screenshots provided by Microsoft.[19] Unlike early releases of Windows 10, there is no 32-bit version of Windows 11. An Intel Coffee Lake, AMD Zen 2, or later generation processor is required to support new security requirements.[20] Users who choose to upgrade to Windows 11 are provided a 10-day period to decide whether to roll back to Windows 10 through Windows Update > Advanced Options > Recovery. After this period has passed, users are on their own to back up their computer and perform a clean install of Windows 10.[21]

Updated window arrangement features

Windows 11 supports Android apps through the Amazon Appstore.[23] It also salvages some features from the cancelled Windows 10X project. The revised user interface reintroduces rounded window corners last seen in Windows 7 and a new startup sound. The updated Start Menu omits Live Tiles and is centered by default, though it can be set back to the bottom left corner of the screen. Windows 11 adds support for DirectStorage and auto HDR, which were first introduced in the Xbox Series X/S. DirectStorage is an API designed to take advantage of NVMe solid-state drives to improve application and game loading times. Auto HDR automatically improves the displayed dynamic range of older SDR games on supported monitors.[25]

The updated Microsoft online store allows developers to implement their own payment systems and supports distribution of Android apps. Microsoft stated that they will take no cut of revenue from apps that implement their own payment system.[23][26] This special deal does not extend to games, which will be subject to a 12% fee through Microsoft’s payment platform.[27]

How to Enable IE Mode on Microsoft Edge Chromium

Windows 11 includes Microsoft Edge based on the newer Chromium browser engine, which Microsoft recommends for improved privacy and security.[28] For legacy websites that can only function with the older Internet Explorer browser, Edge users can enable «Internet Explorer mode» (IE mode) to switch from Chromium to the legacy MSHTML engine to handle such circumstances.[29] Microsoft stated that this feature would be supported in Edge until at least 2029.[30]

Unlike Windows 10, Windows 11 does not include support for Internet Explorer 11 by default. A procedure was found to re-enable it, though it was acknowledged that Explorer is no longer suitable for present-day use due to lack of security and inability to support modern cloud services like Microsoft 365 and Teams.[31][32]

  • Nickel (22H2): Early developer builds of the first feature update were tentatively referred to as Sun Valley 2.[33] Nickel was originally planned to be part of the 22H1 release in the first half of 2022, but was pushed back to 22H2 later in the year as Microsoft moved from a biannual to an annual release cycle for feature updates.[34] Build 22621 is the final beta for 22H2 that is reported to have been released to manufacturing (RTM) for release in Fall 2022.[35] It was made available to members of the Windows Insider Program on June 7, 2022.[36] Phased rollout of the public release of 22H2, marketed as the Windows 11 2022 Update, began on September 20, 2022.[37]

  • Copper (23H2): Early builds were documented as far back as May 2021.[38] Copper was originally planned to be part of the 22H2 release in the second half of 2022, but was reportedly pushed back to 23H2 in 2023 as Microsoft moved from a biannual to an annual release cycle for feature updates.[34] 23H2 is also reportedly referred to as Sun Valley 3.[39] New features include the ability to expand the view of Widgets, an improved Xbox Game Pass Widget, redesigned «Rename this PC» and date/time picker UI.[40] On March 8, 2023, the Dev Channel was rebooted to begin rolling out features for the 23H2 update, starting with build 23403.1001, which was compiled on February 25, 2023.[41]
  • Zinc (24H2): Microsoft entered this development semester in December 2022.[42] Also referred to as Next Valley,[43] the Windows Insider Program initiated the Canary Channel on March 8, 2023 to begin separate testing of experimental features believed to be intended for Windows 12.[44]

Windows 11 received a mixed reception with praise for the updated Settings menu and the reintroduction of Widgets, and criticism for the reorganized Start menu and default Edge browser.[45] The centered Taskbar was compared to the appearance of Apple’s macOS, as was the return of rounded window corners, last seen in Windows 7’s Aero UI.[46]

Some users who preferred the appearance of previous versions of Microsoft Windows have developed various hacks and tutorials to make Windows 11 more closely resemble Windows 10, with its sharper window corners and all.[47][48]

Несмотря на отсутствие в первом выпуске, будущий выпуск Windows 11, запланированный на 2022 год[41][42], позволит пользователям устанавливать и запускать приложения для Android на своём устройстве с помощью новой подсистемы Windows для Android (WSA) и проекта Android Open Source Project (AOSP). Эти приложения можно будет получить из Microsoft Store через Amazon Appstore[43].
Для запуска приложений потребуется учетная запись Microsoft, учётная запись Amazon, однократная установка клиента Amazon Appstore, а также наличие на компьютере 8 ГБ оперативной памяти или более[44][45][46][47][48].
Пользователи также могут устанавливать приложения Android из любого источника, используя формат файла пакета приложений Android (APK)[49].

Безопасность[править | править код]

В рамках минимальных системных требований Windows 11 работает только на устройствах с сопроцессором безопасности Trusted Platform Module 2.0[50]. По словам Microsoft, сопроцессор TPM 2.0 — это «критически важный элемент» для защиты от атак на микропрограммное и аппаратное обеспечение. Кроме того, Microsoft теперь требует, чтобы устройства с Windows 11 имели встроенную и включённую по умолчанию защиту на основе виртуализации (VBS), целостность кода, защищённого гипервизором (HVCI), и Secure Boot. Операционная система также имеет аппаратную защиту стека для поддерживаемых процессоров Intel и AMD для защиты от эксплойтов нулевого дня.

Как и её предшественница, Windows 11 также поддерживает многофакторную аутентификацию и биометрическую аутентификацию через Windows Hello.

  • Windows 11 «Домашняя» (англ. Home) — базовая версия для пользователей ПК, ноутбуков и планшетных компьютеров. Поставляется с ноутбуками.
  • Windows 11 «Профессиональная» (англ. Pro) — версия для ПК, ноутбуков и планшетов с функциями для малого бизнеса типа CYOD (выбери своё устройство).
  • Windows 11 «Корпоративная» (англ. Enterprise) — версия для более крупного бизнеса с расширенными функциями управления корпоративными ресурсами, безопасности и т. д.

Производные:

  • Windows 11 «Профессиональная для образовательных учреждений» (англ. Pro Education) — вариант Pro для учебных заведений.
  • Windows 11 «Профессиональная для рабочих станций» (англ. Pro for Workstations) — специальный вариант Windows 11 Pro, отличается расширенной аппаратной поддержкой (на уровне сервера) и предназначена для удовлетворения сложных потребностей в критически важных средах с высокой вычислительной нагрузкой, имеет поддержку создания хранилищ с файловой системой ReFS (во всех редакциях, кроме Pro for Workstation и «Корпоративной», поддержка удалена), предоставляет наиболее требовательные приложения и данные с требуемой производительностью с использованием энергонезависимых модулей памяти (NVDIMM-N). Поддерживает до 4 CPU и до 6 ТБ оперативной памяти (в «Pro» — до 2 ТБ).
  • Windows 11 «для образовательных учреждений» (англ. Education) — вариант «Корпоративной» для учебных заведений.
  • Windows 11 Mixed Reality — специальная версия Windows 11 для устройств дополненной и смешанной реальности.
  • Windows 11 SE — версия Windows 11 исключительно для бюджетных устройств, продаваемых на образовательном рынке и ориентированная на облачные технологии. Содержит некоторые изменения в своей функциональности, такие как Snap Layouts, работающий не более чем с двумя приложениями, приложения по умолчанию открываются в полноэкранном режиме, из системы были удалены Microsoft Store и панель виджетов, Microsoft Edge по умолчанию настроен на установку расширений из интернет-магазина Chrome. Все файлы по умолчанию сохраняются в OneDrive. Система оптимизирована для Microsoft Edge, Office и облачных сервисов Microsoft, однако поддерживает установку и сторонних приложений. В начале октября 2021 года состоялся релиз Windows 11 и её облегченной версии Windows 11SE. Новая операционная система еще до момента выпуска стала объектом бесконечных споров, а к некоторым ее функциям и требованиям в интернете отнеслись критично. 

Тем не менее, большинство пользователей ПК с любопытством отнеслись к релизу финальной версии Windows 11 под кодом 21H2. Если смотреть на прошлые версии ОС, то интерфейс Windows 11 действительно выглядит свежо, но что скрывается в технической части?

Операционные системы от компании Microsoft традиционно остаются самыми популярными решениями для ПК и ноутбуков. По данным исследования рынка1, в 2020 году та или иная версия Windows была установлена на 70% компьютеров в сети. Разумеется, что в Microsoft не хотят терять такую огромную долю на рынке и постоянно обновляют и улучшают свою актуальную операционную систему, вышедшую в 2015 году — Windows 10.

15 июня 2021 года в интернете появились первые скриншоты с внешним видом операционной системы Windows 11, а вскоре некий разработчик из Китая и вовсе выложил в сеть раннюю версию системы2.

Впрочем, вопрос о «сливе» системы до сих пор остается открытым — вполне вероятно что в Microsoft специально выложили Windows 11 в сеть, чтобы подогреть к ней интерес общественности перед своей конференцией для разработчиков. Мероприятие прошло 24 июня, и на нем официально представили Windows 11 и Windows 11SE (облегченную версия системы).

Дата выхода Windows 11 и 11SE

Доступная для всех пользователей версия Windows 11 вышла немного раньше, чем ожидалось. Датой выхода Windows 11 и 11SE стал вторник, 5 октября 2021 года. Изначально предполагалось, что релиз состоится на день позже, но в Microsoft приняли решение о неожиданном переносе даты. По словам представителей Microsoft, автоматическое обновление до Windows 11 начнется в конце этого года и продолжится в 2022.

Что нового в ОС Windows 11

Новый процесс установки

Нововведения в Windows 11 начинаются уже с момента установки или обновления системы с предыдущей версии ОС.

Разработчики кардинально пересмотрели интерфейс установщика и добавили возможность настройки ПК прямо во время инсталляции. Также пользователям дали возможность восстановить операционную систему из сохраненной копии на сервисе Microsoft One Drive. Благодаря этим изменениям полностью готовую к работе версию Windows 11 можно получить уже сразу после установки.

Также при первом входе в систему нужно будет в обязательном порядке войти в учетную запись Microsoft. Решение спорное, особенно для тех, кто не хочет делиться личными данными с иностранной компанией. Возможно, что из-за жалоб пользователей в будущем это требование могут убрать.

Новый интерфейс

В глаза сразу бросается новый вид операционной системы. Привычное уже десятки лет меню “Пуск” по умолчанию переехало в середину рабочего стола. Таким образом внешний вид Windows 11 начал напоминать macOS. Все документы пользователю в офисной системе Microsoft 365 синхронизируются между устройствами — с ПК недавно открытые файлы можно найти прямо в новом меню “Пуск”.

Окна в системе Windows 11 также получили новый вид. Теперь они избавились от острых углов и приобрели более современный глянцевый дизайн.

Изменилось и расположение меню «Пуск» — теперь оно переехало в самую середину панели рабочего стола. К слову, дизайнеры поменяли и сам логотип системы — теперь он стал геометрически правильным крестом, обрамлённым белым квадратом. Разумеется, в Windows 11 добавили несколько десятков новых обоев рабочего стола.

Центр уведомлений

В Windows 11 обновили центр уведомлений. В предыдущей версии ОС от Microsoft он открывался на всю высоту экрана и занимал слишком много пространства. Сейчас в системе открывается небольшое окно, сообщения в котором можно прокручивать. При необходимости можно задать уведомлениям приоритет, тогда они не будут появляться слишком часто или редко. 

Виджеты и управление

Подразумевается, что Windows 11 будет устанавливаться и на ноутбуки с сПодразумевается, что Windows 11 будет устанавливаться и на ноутбуки с сенсорным экраном, поэтому система будет корректно работать с подобными девайсами «из коробки». Тач-управление доступно уже сейчас, а некоторые функции будто специально разработали под управление касаниями. Например, панель новостных виджетов, которые пришли на смену живым плиткам в Windows 10. Их содержание будет формироваться автоматически, на основе поведения пользователя.

Встроенный Teams

Серьезное обновление получил сервис для коммуникаций Teams. Его встроили в систему и сделали более удобным для использования. За счет этого в MIcrosoft хотят составить конкуренцию популярными мессенджерам — WhatsApp и Telegram. Остается неизвестным, почему в Microsoft выбрали для развития Teams, а не популярный и известный среди всех Skype — этот сервис американская компания приобрела еще шесть лет назад.

Функции для игр

Геймеров порадует возможность автоматического включения HDR (повышенный диапазон яркости, который делает картинку насыщенной) в стандартных играх. Главное, чтобы дисплей компьютера поддерживал эту функцию. Также в систему интегрирована система Game Pass с сотнями бесплатных игр и «облачный» геймерский сервис xCloud (с ним цифровые развлечения запускаются на удаленном сервере, а при наличии хорошего интернета пользователь может без задержек играть).

Поддержка DirectX 12 обеспечит более продвинутую графику в играх для Windows 11. Также система будет лучше работать с SSD-дисками формата NVMe — теперь игры будут запускаться еще быстрее.

Магазин приложений и поддержка Android

В Microsoft предполагают, что пользователи Windows 11 будут устанавливать только лицензионное ПО, поэтому серьезно обновили встроенный магазин приложений. Его сделали максимально удобным как для обычных пользователей, так и для разработчиков. Так, Microsoft не будет препятствовать установке сторонних браузеров или приложений с собственными магазинами (например, игровой сервис Steam от Valve). Более того, со сторонних разработчиков перестали взимать комиссию за размещение их приложений в Microsoft Store — это в конечном итоге скажется на итоговой цене ПО.

Во время первой презентации в Microsoft отдельно остановились на моменте с установкой Android-приложений в свою ОС. Сообщалось, что сразу после релиза их можно будет устанавливать прямо из официального магазина приложений Windows Store благодаря интеграции с сервисами Amazon. Но на момент выпуска ОС Windows 11 эта функция недоступна — ее запуск отложили как минимум до 2022 года3.

Быстродействие

Система от Microsoft начала корректно работать с автоматическим разделением ресурсов системы на разные приложения. Говоря простым языком — на работающие на переднем плане приложения система будет бросать все свои силы, а на фоновых будет «экономить». За счет новых алгоритмов вызова аппаратных компонентов система стала быстрее выходить из спящего режима.

Фокусировка на работе

Функции отключения лишних уведомлений появляются во всех операционных системах, и Windows 11 не стала исключением. В продукте Microsoft она называется Focus Session. Пользователю позволяют выбрать время, на которое его не будут беспокоить сообщения от установленных приложений. Забавно, что в утилиту встроили музыкальный сервис Spotify — мелодии должны помочь пользователю сосредоточиться.

Состояние аккумулятора

Звучит странно, но в Windows до сих пор не было встроенного приложения для отслеживания расхода заряда аккумулятора. В Windows 11 это недоразумение наконец исправили. Пользователи ноутбуков могут отслеживать «прожорливость» установленных программ за счет встроенных средств системы.

Различия Windows 11 и 11SE

Начнем с того, что версия Windows 11SE представляет из себя логическое продолжение Windows 10 Cloud. Несмотря на «облачное» название, система не работает на удаленных серверах Microsoft. Главное её отличие от полноценной версии Windows — отсутствие возможности установить ПО не из официального магазина Microsoft.

Предполагается, что такие легкие версии ОС будут использовать для учебы или для иных нетривиальных задач. Например, редактирование текста или простая обработка фотографий. За счет Windows 11SE в Microsoft планируют конкурировать с популярной среди западных студентов и школьников Chrome OS.

Системные требования для Windows 11 и 11SE

Минимальные системные требования Windows 11 не изменились с момента первого публичного представления системы.

  • Процессор: 64-битный двухъядерный 1 гГц 
  • Оперативная память: 4 гигабайта
  • Количество свободного места в памяти: 64 гигабайта или больше
  • Видеокарта: любая, совместимая с DirectX 12
  • Дисплей: любой HD-экран, с разрешением выше 720p

Корпорация Microsoft рассказала о нескольких версиях меню «Пуск», которые не попали в финальную сборку Windows 11. Об этом говорится в блоге компании.

В фирме заметили, что меню «Пуск» (Start) является одним главных элементов операционной системы (ОС). В материале говорится, что компания экспериментировала с дизайном и на этапе разработки Windows 11 протестировала и отменила множество концептов этого компонента ОС.

В блоге представители корпорации показали несколько черновых вариантов. Один из концепт-дизайнов включал меню с более округлыми рамками и дополнительный раздел «Для вас» с рекомендуемыми приложениями. В другом варианте главное меню было посвящено категориям приложений. Существует концепция меню «Пуск», которое занимает все вертикальное пространство экрана.

Microsoft сообщила, что итоговые варианты «Пуска» показали 300 энтузиастам, а затем дизайнеры следили, насколько удобно людям было работать с ним.

В заключение специалисты компании рассказали о четырех принципах, которым должно соответствовать меню «Пуск». Оно должно открывать доступ ко всем приложениям, поддерживать настройку и сохранять преемственность. «Также каждый пиксель должен оправдывать свое существование, способствуя сокращению времени рутинных действий», — подытожили авторы.

В начале мая корпорация Microsoft официально обновила меню «Пуск» в Windows 11. В том числе «Пуск» получил функцию Click to Do — всплывающее контекстное меню.
