Battlefield 2
Windows
Add.
Resolution: 800 × 600
Refresh rate: 60 Hz (или другое значение, поддерживаемое монитором)

Battlefield 2 is an exciting PC game that brings players into immersive battles. However, like any game, it can sometimes encounter problems like crashes that interrupt the action. Crashes can be frustrating, but don’t worry—there are different ways to fix them. From simple solutions like restarting your computer to more technical fixes like updating drivers, this article outlines various steps to get you back in the game.
Solution 1: Restart the PC
When you experience black screen on Windows 11/10 or any bug in Battlefield 2, it’s recommended to start by restarting the computer before attempting any other fixes.
This is because restarting the computer can resolve any temporary errors caused by outdated cookies and cache or conflicts with other software on your system by simply restarting Windows 11.
Solution 2: Run the Program as an Administrator (Permanently) PC
When running Battlefield 2 on PC, there may be times when you need to give the program administrative privileges in order to access certain features or settings and in our case to get rid of not opening.
One way of doing it is by simply right-clicking on the program and selecting “Run as administrator”, but it may not always be enough, as you may need to grant these privileges permanently in order to avoid constantly having to repeat the process.
Here’s how to run a program as an administrator permanently on Windows 11/10:
- Go to the folder/Application
- Right-click on it
- A menu will open
- Select Properties
- A new window will open
- Navigate to the “Compatibility Tab“
- Under the Settings heading
- Find “Run this Program as an administrator“
- Check the box for this option
- Click “Apply“
Now your program successfully Runs as an Administrator on Windows 11 (Permanently) and you can easily open the program without repeating the steps.
Solution 3: Update Battlefield 2
For critical errors like black screen on startup, publishers release updates for an optimized and smooth gaming experience. It’s wise to check for any update released before troubleshooting other possible issues.
Playing with outdated versions can also lead to technical glitches, compatibility issues, or even missing out on new content. Here’s how to keep any game updated using its dedicated launcher:
Open the Game Launcher and from its settings locate “Update” Options. Either enable automatic updates or do a manual update if there are any. Restart the Launcher and check if you are still facing black screen on startup.
Solution 4: Close Intensive/Unwanted Programs Or Settings
Your game/PC can be set to maximum performance, try running the game on lower settings to consume fewer resources. This can include:
- A lower resolution(From 4k to 1080p or 1080p to 720p)
- A lower frame rate (try playing at 60Hz)
If there are too many programs running in the background, using too much internet/RAM/Disk can cause Battlefield 2 not opening on Windows 11.
Closing unwanted programs will help you eliminate the black screen on startup issue on your PC as your game would be able to get the required resources from Windows.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + ESC keys to open Task Manager
- Now check which program is using more Resources, usually indicated by a darker background
- Right-click on that program and select End task
Now check if the black screen is solved or not.
Solution 5: Try Enabling/Disabling VPN while playing Battlefield 2
Still running into crashing error on Windows 11/10?
If you’ve got a VPN on, try turning it off to see if it makes a difference. If it’s off, switch it on and check again. But heads up! Don’t jump between too many regions; you don’t want to get blocked.
Remember, the right VPN can be a game-changer.
Solution 6: Add Game Exceptions on Antivirus PC
Sometimes antivirus thinks game files are bad guys and stops them, causing the black screen on startup.
To fix this, tell your antivirus that Battlefield 2 files are cool by adding them to the “exceptions” list. This way, you can play without the antivirus messing things up!
Follow the steps below to add an exception on Antivirus (This guide is for Avast, and would be similar for other antiviruses):
- Launch Avast on your PC.
- Select Menu at the top-right corner of Avast.
- Choose Settings from the menu.
- From the left sidebar, choose General > Exceptions
- Click ADD EXCEPTION and then type the URL you want to add to it.
- Click ADD EXCEPTION to save the URL and check if you can access the URL
If you are still facing Avast Blocking Websites, continue to the next solution.
Solution 7: Check if Windows or Any Driver is Outdated
Sometimes compatibility issues can be a reason for continuous Battlefield 2 crashing on Windows.
Often, it’s all about the updates. First off, head to your Windows settings and see if there’s an update waiting. While you’re on this updating spree, dive into your device manager and update your Wi-Fi drivers and update graphics drivers making sure they are on the latest versions.
These updates can make a big difference, fixing a lot of errors.
Solution 8: Contact Battlefield 2 Support
Tried everything and that game error’s still bugging you?
As a last resort, head to the Battlefield 2’s official website and click ‘Support’ or ‘Contact’. Send them an email, jump into live chat, or post in their official forums.
Share what’s happening and any error messages. Remember to double-check you’re on the official site. Sometimes, reaching out is the best way to get back to gaming!
Stay smart and game on!
In conclusion, crashes while playing Battlefield 2 can be a nuisance, but they are often solvable with a bit of troubleshooting. Whether it’s running the game as an administrator, closing other programs, or making sure your system is up-to-date, these solutions can help restore stability. Remember, if the problem persists, reaching out to the game’s support can be a final step towards finding a resolution. Now, get back to enjoying the game without the interruptions!
Hi! I’m Sophia from France. 🇫🇷 I got my first PlayStation as a gift and saved up big time for my fav, the PS2! 🎮 Now, I write super cool guides and articles about it on thecpuguide.com. Let’s game on! 🌟
I have Battlefield 2 on windows 10, I really want to play Forgotten Hope 2 and project reality. However I can’t even start the game normally. This is so frustrating because I had the same exact issue trying to play BF1942, Install the game and everything like that works fine. However when I go to play the game it starts up with a black screen as if it is loading then all of a sudden it just closes back to the desktop and with no error code as well. Happened on BF1942 and I couldn’t figure out a solution and now its happening when I’m trying to play Battlefield 2. I’ve searched for hours on end and I just can’t figure it out… I’ve seen people posting links to a solution on Battle Log but of course the links don’t work as they have been shut down. If any one has any possible solutions please let me know,, Im on a kinda crappy HP Notebook 2016 but it can run Fallout NV on ultra and Day of infamy just fine as well as other modern games so I don’t think its any system limitations. I’m at the end of the rope here, don’t know what to do. Thanks.

the bf1942 main menu can only run on 800 x 600 resolution so you need have that resolution on your screen.
but when the game is running you can change to any screen resolution thats supported by your screen.
you see when you start a game and start loading a map blackscreen.exe run for a few seconds and change the game to resolution you set in the video settings.
the only thing i still can think of is to use the hdmi port on your laptop and plug in a monitor that support the screen resolutions you need
and this is the point were i run out of ideas maybe team simple tech forum can help you

Battlefield 2 black screen then crash to desktop on Windows 10 Home
Whenever I start Battlefield 2 on my laptop, the screen goes black and crashes back to desktop ( doesn’t even reach the point where it says ‘EA Games’. Please help me to fix and play, just to get the offline part working. I’m not bothered about going online.
I started the game without the patches — doesn’t work.
I installed the patches ( 1.41 and 1.50 ) and tried again — doesn’t work.
I deleted the BF2 files in ‘Documents’ — doesn’t work.
I reset the screen resolution in the Video.con from 800x600GHz to 1366x768GHz (My recommended screen resolution) — still doesn’t work.
I tried running it on compatibility mode for windows 7, XP , Vista and ran as administrator — still doesn’t work!!!
I tried running the game on window mode and it gives the «Debug assertion failed» BF2 error.
I have tried every possible fix and nothing has worked.
