В феврале 2008 года компания Sony Ericsson анонсировала коммуникатор Xperia X1. Он стал первым аппаратом шведско-японского концерна с Windows Mobile и открыл премиум-линейку Xperia. В отличие от большинства мобильников, протестированных в последнее время Лентой.ру, Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 порадовал стальным корпусом с характерной рельефной поверхностью. Такое решение имеет два очевидных последствия: смартфон практически не притягивает отпечатки пальцев, но при этом довольно много весит.
Непонятно почему, но инженеры Sony Ericsson решили проигнорировать тенденцию по установке дисплеев вровень с корпусом и утопили экран чуть вглубь коммуникатора. В результате по краям экрана очень быстро скапливается пыль, а убрать ее оттуда не так-то просто.
Кроме того, утопленный в корпус экран сводит практически на нет возможность работы с коммуникатором без стилуса. Из-за выступающих краев корпуса нажать пальцем иконку, либо значок закрытия окна, расположенные по краям дисплея, практически нереально.
Вообще экран Xperia X1 нетипичен для коммуникаторов. Во-первых, его диагональ составляет три дюйма, а не привычные 2,8 дюйма. Во-вторых, он широкоформатный и поддерживает разрешение 800 на 480 точек.
С одной стороны, на таком экране очень удобно смотреть видео. Но с другой, он несколько уже экрана обычного коммуникатора. Как следствие, неудобно работать, например, с виртуальной клавиатурой. Ее и без того маленькие кнопки в Xperia X1 стали еще меньше. В частности, при наборе текста в движущемся автобусе, число ошибок резко возрастает.
Избежать вышеописанной проблемы можно с помощью выдвижной qwerty-клавиатуры. Ее основной плюс — крупные и отделенные друг от друга клавиши. Так, при наборе SMS в том же автобусе на qwerty-клавиатуре не было ни одного ошибочного нажатия.
Еще одним отличием Х1 от многих коммуникаторов является обилие управляющих механических кнопок, расположенных в едином блоке под экраном. Здесь их шесть, не считая навигационную клавишу. Все кнопки пластиковые и выполнены в форме треугольников.

В центре управляющего блока находится четырехпозиционная кнопка. Она выполнена в виде выступающей над поверхностью рамки с оптическим джойстиком в центре. Последний представляет собой подобие тачпада у ноутбуков. Например, с его помощью можно передвигаться по меню и пролистывать сайты. Однако вскоре джойстик пришлось отключить, так как при случайных касаниях он сильно мешает в работе.
Рыбы Х
В качестве операционной системы на Xperia X1 установлена Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro. Из дополнительных приложений порадовали браузер Opera и программа для навигации. В остальном в распоряжение пользователя Xperia X1 предоставляется весь стандартный арсенал средств мобильной версии Windows со всеми их плюсами и минусами.
Не секрет, что экран «Сегодня», аналог рабочего стола в Windows Mobile, реализован не идеально. Устранить этот недостаток можно за счет программ-оболочек, делающих Windows Mobile более дружелюбной. Так, HTC использует собственный интерфейс TouchFLO 3D, компания E-TEN ставит на свои коммуникаторы оболочку SPb Mobile Shell.
Своя фишка есть и у коммуникатора с Windows Mobile от Sony Ericsson. Это набор дополнительных панелей (сервис X-Panel), представляющих собой различные модификации экрана «Сегодня».
Нажатием клавиши X-Panel пользователь Х1 вызывает меню из различных панелей экрана «Сегодня». Для загрузки понравившейся панели достаточно кликнуть по ней пальцем или стилусом. На это действие коммуникатор откликается легкой вибрацией, а на экране появляется статичное изображение выбранной панели. Примерно три секунды спустя место статичной картинки занимает обновленный экран «Сегодня».
На момент тестирования в коммуникатор было загружено шесть панелей. Наиболее интересные их них это Google и «Рыбы». В первом случае на рабочем столе будет размещена поисковая строка Google и иконки для быстрого доступа к различным сервисам поисковика, например, к Gmail.
Панель «Рыбы», пожалуй, самая нефункциональная из всех. Но, при этом, самая забавная. После ее активации на экране коммуникатора появляется что-то вроде аквариума, где плавают три рыбы разных цветов и часы. Если прикоснуться к любой из рыб, она пугается и начинает быстро уплывать в сторону. Кроме того, рыбы меняют цвет, например, при отключенном звуке или севшем аккумуляторе. Другого функционала у этой панели нет.
Дополнительные панели можно загрузить из интернета. Для этого достаточно кликнуть на иконку в разделе X-Panel, после чего коммуникатор подключается к соответствующему разделу на сайте Sony Ericsson.
Что внутри?
Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 интересен не только снаружи, но и изнутри. Его технические характеристики впечатляют. Так, частота процессора коммуникатора составляет 528 мегагерц, объем оперативной памяти — 256 мегабайт. Также Х1 оснащен 3,2-мегапиксельной камерой с автофокусом и вспышкой, модулями GPS, 3G, Wi-Fi и Bluetooth.
Перед тестированием мы ожидали, что устройство со столь мощным процессором и большим объемом оперативной памяти будет работать нереально быстро. На практике же Х1 ощутимо притормаживал, а иногда скорость его работы можно было охарактеризовать как нереально медленную.
Источником питания коммуникатора служит литий-полимерная батарея емкостью 1500 миллиампер-час. По данным производителя, ее достаточно для работы Х1 до 10 часов в режиме разговора и до 500 часов в режиме ожидания.
Болтать по телефону в течение десяти часов мы не стали, как и просто ждать, сядет ли батарея после 20 дней нахождения устройства без дела. Зато выяснили, что при прослушивании музыки около полутора часов в день и непродолжительном веб-серфинге аккумулятор можно заряжать раз в два, а то и в три, дня.
Достаточно быстро «убить» аккумулятор Х1 можно просмотром видео. Например, было решено использовать коммуникатор как видеопроигрыватель, дабы скоротать время в пятичасовой поездке. В итоге удалось посмотреть два фильма, а батарея села более чем через четыре часа.

Применима ли поговорка «первый блин комом» к Sony Ericsson Xperia X1? Пожалуй, нет. Если закрыть глаза на незначительные мелочи, то Sony Ericsson выпустила отличный коммуникатор с достаточно мощным функционалом.
Что в Xperia X1 порадовало больше всего, так это сборка. Она идеальна, ну или почти идеальна. Кроме того, на высоте оказалось и качество материалов.
Если говорить о минусах, то, пожалуй, наиболее явным из них является утопленный в корпус экран. Если точнее, то не сам экран, а скапливающаяся по его краям грязь.
Также покупателям Xperia X1 стоит обратить внимание на крепление крышки аккумуляторного отсека. Например, в тестируемом аппарате она постоянно отваливалась при открытии и закрытии слайдера.
Отметим, что в другой модели коммуникатора X1 ничего подобного не наблюдалось, поэтому будем считать отваливающуюся крышку проблемой тестового образца. В противном случае она сведет на нет все достоинства устройства стоимостью около 30 тысяч рублей.

The Xperia X1 (codenamed HTC Kovsky) is a high-end smartphone from Sony Ericsson, and is the first in the manufacturer’s Xperia series. The phone was designed and built by Taiwanese OEM HTC. The X1 was first presented at the 2008 Mobile World Congress.[6]
The X1 is an arc-slider phone with the Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system. It is Sony Ericsson’s first mobile phone to feature Windows Mobile.[1] The device also has a Java virtual machine (JBed) and supports Java Platform, Micro Edition[7] that is claimed to have a richer set of features than typically available.
The phone features a three-inch resistive touchscreen overlaying a keypad which emerges when the user slides the touchscreen face upward, much as in the HTC TyTN II, although the X1’s touchscreen slides out in an arc. Its touchscreen is a 65,536-color TFT WVGA display. It has a 3.2-megapixel digital camera which records video at thirty frames per second in VGA (640×480) quality. There is also a secondary front-facing camera for videoconferencing that is of QCIF format. Connectivity options for the phone include: mini-USB; wireless LAN 802.11b/g; Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, FTP, and HID; EDGE; and quad-band GSM, UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA, and HSCSD. The X1 has 512 MB of internal memory (400 MB free), which is expandable to 16 gigabytes using high capacity microSD cards, currently cards up to 32 gigabytes have been released by SanDisk.[8] The phone also features A-GPS for navigation.[9]
The X1 ships with Opera Mobile pre-installed.
Standard features on the X1 include push email, an RSS feed aggregator, and handwriting recognition.
It is also able to use the GSM network feature Alternate line service.[10]
The device is powered by Qualcomm’s ARM 11 MSM7200A CPU, which runs at 528 MHz. The device’s memory is 256 MB RAM.[11]
The home screen on the Xperia X1 supports up to nine different «panels» which can be switched between by the user, each offering different functionality.[12] This allows users to select exactly which functionality they want on their homescreen, and switch easily. Extra panels can be downloaded from Sony Ericsson or third parties. Sony Ericsson released an SDK for developers which allows panels to be created using either C++ or HTML with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 SP1 or better.[13] There is also a third party website which simplifies the process of creating an HTML panel, as it is quite a complex task with Visual Studio.[14]
The X1 began shipping on 30 September 2008. It became available to the UK market on 27 October 2008 (only on Vodafone). The handset is available through the Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U in the UK. In Europe it will be sold only in Fnac stores (Belgium and France).[citation needed]
In Hong Kong, X1 was shipped on 29 October 2008. The first batch of X1 in Hong Kong was dedicated for the mobile operator Three HK and was reserved for the operator’s VIP premium user for pre-ordering.[15]
In South Africa, it was released to the public on 16 December 2009.[citation needed]
On 13 November, Sony Ericsson announced that the phone would be available in North America on 28 November 2008 for $799 unlocked.[16]
In Australia, the X1a was released on Telstra in December 2008 and went on sale 26 December 2008. It’s now also available on the Vodafone and 3 Networks.
The Sony Ericsson Canadian website reveals the X1a as «coming soon», available within three months. The availability status was spotted as early as 14 February 2010.

If you need a Windows Mobile phone, Sony Ericsson hopes to tempt you with the Xperia X2, a phone that tries to make business time sexy

The Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X2 is a phone for the suits, thanks to its Windows Mobile operating system, but with a little dash of Sony Eric’s mastery of media.
The follow-up to the Xperia X1 garnishes WinMo’s support for your Outlook email with an 8.1-megapixel camera and Son Eric’s fabulous audio quality through a standard 3.5mm headphone jack.
We thought that the Xperia X2 looked great, especially compared to some of the other business-oriented phones out there. It’s much slimmer and sleeker than the HTC Touch Pro2, for example. But its resistive touchscreen and complicated user interface mean this a phone to wrestle with, rather than cuddle.

The Xperia X2 has the latest edition of Windows Mobile on board, version 6.5, so the Start menu is more finger-friendly than the Xperia X1. But many of the menus are still too tiny to tap, and the screen is the resistive type, so you may have to use the included stylus to get around.

Sony Ericsson introduced the concept of ‘panels’ with the Xperia X1 — these are active home screens you can set up and switch to, depending on your mood or the time of day. For example, one panel might show social-networking widgets, such as your Facebook status and Twitter updates, and another might show a list of your emails and appointments.

We found the panels could be confusing, since some show only one thing — CNN’s front page, for example — while others are complex user interfaces in themselves, like this one based on SPB Mobile Shell. There’s even one that’s the twin of the default Android home screens, which you can swipe to reveal more real estate to either side. It’s a powerful system, but it’s complicated stuff.

Besides the touchscreen, you can navigate with the small, square optical trackpad on the front, or slide it open to reveal a full Qwerty keyboard. The keyboard has everything, including a Windows key, and it slides out smoothly on a curved angle.

The back of the phone features an 8.1-megapixel camera with an LED photo light. We didn’t have a chance to test the camera on the prototype phone we saw, but Sony Ericsson has made some fabulous camera phones, so we have high hopes this could be the best smart-phone camera out there.

The top of the Xperia X2 has a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, so you can use your own cans without an adaptor.

Дизайн устройства можно назвать действительно свежей струёй в мире Windows Mobile, передняя панель с элементами металла выглядит как минимум необычно на фоне приевшихся девайсов от Asus и HTC.
Я думаю, многие по достоинству оценят изогнутую клавиатуру с наклонёнными кнопками.
Также Sony Ericsson анонсировала новую надстройку на стандартным интерфейсом Windows Mobile — XPERIA panels, в действии которую можно посмотреть в видео на Engadget: www.engadget.com/2008/02/10/video-sony-ericssons-xperia-x1-panel-interface
Всё это великолепие кроме массы положительных эмоций постоянно подводит меня к вопросу стоимости, которая, если судить по характеристиками, вряд ли будет ниже 600 Евро.
Энергопотребление и производительность, я думаю, реально можно будет оценить только после начала тестирования в прессе.
Думаю, если Sony Ericsson действительно настроена серьёзно (то есть не на выпуск одной модели в течение двух лет), появление такого крупного игрока на рынке может значительно укрепить несколько забродившую в последнее время армию WM-устройств.
