Y U So Fast?
Sonic Dash is yet another one of those Endless Runner games for Windows Phone and this one is really cool. I wouldn’t say that it’s one of my favorites but that’s only because I have been playing others for much longer. This one has many other features that most Endless Runner games don’t have and that’s why this one is so much fun. When I first downloaded it, I thought it was like any other normal Sonic games but I was a bit disappointed when I found out what it really was. All I had to do was play one run to see that this game was amazing. It wasn’t unique really, but some of the features were and I loved the game for that.

GRAPHICS 10/10

The graphics are amazing for a mobile, and I would have to say that they are even better for a game of this genre. Really, this is easily the best and most colorful endless runner game that I have ever played. There’s just so much detail and color and as opposed to it looking like something made up for the game like Temple Run and Angry Gran Run, it actually looks like it would in the Sonic games and shows and that’s a great thing. The game is in fact published by Sega so it’ not really a surprise as to why it would look like this. All the characters look the way they would and are detailed and colorful, and everything about the world looks amazing, you have the colorful trees, coins, and even clouds that look great. I see no reason to give this aspect anything less than a perfect 10 out of 10.

SOUND 10/10

The sound is amazing! First off you have the music which actually uses real Sonic music instead of creating their own music and that’s a huge plus. I’ve seen games based off of other games where they tried to remix that games music and I never saw that work before. There’s a few remixes here I think but you can clearly hear the original music and that’s amazing. It does feel as though the music is a bit off because it sounds clear but it kind of feels as if the volume is down but that’s fine. The music is always continuously playing and loops around when you’re playing, when you’re paused, and when you’re in the menus and that’s a huge plus being having music at all times. Some recent games I played either had music only in the menu or only during the game. The sounds are good as well, there’s a sound when you collect and lose coins, when you dash, when you jump or move, and at many other points. Not only is there a lot of sounds, but it’s good sounds as well and for that this grade deserves another perfect 10 out of 10.

ADDICTIVENESS 10/10

The game can be a LOT of fun, especially if you are a Sonic fan because it brings almost everything that you could want. Collect coins, dodge enemies, avoid death, and battle bosses, and is there anything else that you could really need? I’ll be honest though, half of the time I can’t really understand what’s going on in the game because either something happens too fast or I’m just not used to some of the stuff yet. I really like how the coins are used because this way unless you fall off the map, you get to keep playing so in comparison to other games, runs can be a bit longer which adds to the addictiveness of the game. The way the game looks and sounds, combined with all of the features make this a very fun game to play and yet again, this game is going to get another perfect 10 out of 10 as a grade.

STORY 5/10

For this game, I guess you could say that there are bits and pieces of a story but there isn’t much because of its Endless Runner nature. This game has a boss battle, which kind of works as a story and the boss works with what happens in Sonic Lost World. There are a few other endless runner games that have boss battles like this, but unlike those, this one has a lot more content and has a direct effect on the game play so its really a major part of the game aside for collecting coins and making it as far as you can. However, it’s still only a small part of the game and my grade for story will be a 5 out of 10.

DEPTH 9/10

The game has a good amount of depth for an endless runner because it has a lot of cool features for you to play around with and aside for the core aspects of this genre, you have the boss battle which only a few games of this genre have so that adds a lot of depth to the game. Like the standard ER, you have a ton of missions that you must complete to get boosts, aside for Sonic, you have 8 other characters that you can buy, you have a bunch of upgrades that you can use to make your runs longer, and of course you have the rings. You have two different kinds of rings that each do something different, and a whole lot more. In other words, it’s just about the same as other ER’s but with a few slight upgrades and for that I’m going to give this aspect a 9 out of 10.

DIFFICULTY 4

Yes, the game can actually be very difficult because it’s easy to miss something while you’re running. Most ER’s start off slow and there’s an obstacle every now and then. Eventually the game gets faster and obstacles start popping up more and more. It’s different with this game because it starts off slow, but not only are there regular obstacles at about the same amount of times, but you also have different kinds of enemies to watch out for which make it harder.So basically you have twice as many obstacles which makes the game seem like it’s going faster and because of that, once the game does actually start getting faster, you might run into some problems. All you have to do is be quick and pay attention and you will be fine so for that my grade for difficulty will be a 4.

OVERALL 9.3/10

Overall this turned out to be one of the most fun endless runner games that I have played up there along with Temple Run and a few others and its a lot of fun. If you are either a Sonic fan or an ER fan then I suggest you play it, even if you don’t like one or the other. This game was a blast and my overall grade will be a 9.3 out of 10.
