When we have been using certain programs for a long time, we get attached to them and find it difficult to switch to others. We want to have these programs always, independently of the version of the operating system that we make serve.

That’s why, if at some point we have to work with another PC, we will want to have these programs installed, but what if the version we had is not compatible with the computer we are currently using?

In the case of PhotoScape we are lucky, because, even though it has been updated for more recent versions and is no longer retro-compatible, we have at our disposal the previous versions so that we can continue using it no matter what operating system version we have.

In case you don’t know already, right now we have available three different versions of PhotoScape:

👉 The oldest version, which is the PhotoScape 3.4, compatible with older Windows operating systems such as Windows 98 and Windows Me.

👉 The last version before restyling, the PhotoScape 3.7, compatible with Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and even Windows 10.

👉 The current version, with a lot of new features and a better look, the PhotoScape X, only compatible, currently, with Windows 10.

💻 How to choose the right version of PhotoScape

To know which version of the Windows operating system we have installed in our PC there are several ways, although they vary and not all are always useful.

The easiest way is to go to the properties of our system, usually you can get there by right clicking on «My Computer» «Computer» or «Team».

Once you click, a new window will appear with all the characteristics of our system.

We must look at the Windows edition that puts us there. In the case of the following image, we have a Windows 7.

🎨 Download PhotoScape 3.4 and PhotoScape 3.7

Now that we know which Windows operating system you have, it’s time to download the compatible version of PhotoScape.

As we said before, there are three different versions of PhotoScape.

Let’s see how to download each one separately. You will find all the links at the bottom of the page, but it is important that you learn how to do it correctly to avoid problems in the future.

In the case of PhotoScape 3.4, (remember that it is only compatible with Windows 98 and Windows Me) we will click on its download link and a new window will open with the download page.

Automatically will start the download, if not, you must click on the blue link that says «click here» to force the download.

Once the Photoscape has downloaded, we will do double click on the file and the installation of PhotoScape 3.4 will begin.

In case of PhotoScape 3.7 (compatible with Windows NT, 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 8 and 10) we must follow almost the same steps as in the previous case.

We will click on the link at the end of everything and a new window will open in the browser.

In this case, the download does not start automatically and it will be us who will have to do the action by clicking on the green button that says «Download Now».

Once this is done, the download will begin. Depending on the internet connection speed we have, it will take more or less time, but in the end we will have downloaded this fabulous free image editor.

Once in our PC, we only have to install it by double clicking on the downloaded file.

Batch Editor

In the Combine section, you can drag and drop images to the center area to have them combined automatically. If you choose the side-by-side layout, there are several choices to control the size of each image. The choices include maintaining the original sizes or resizing images according to the smallest size, the largest size, the size of the first image, or the custom size.

Animated GIF Maker

This is the tool that is capable of turning a series of images into an animated GIF. The images within the animation will be displayed sequentially based on the order of the image placement. The transition period between the images is customizable and there are several transition effects ready to be applied.

Image Splitter

To split an image into a number of parts, PhotoScape provides a quick splitter. It can handle multiple images at once. You just need to add every single image that you need to split, decide how many pieces of an image that you want to have by specifying the number of columns and rows, choose an output folder, and choose an output format.
