We love our Windows readers and viewers, and to prove it we’ve created a video tutorial that shows you how to downgrade an iPhone 4S or iPad 2 using RedSn0w 0.9.11b1 on Windows.
The process is basically the same as what we showed you with the Mac version of RedSn0w, but this time around we downgraded an iPhone 4S instead of an iPad 2. The iPad 2, iPhone 4S and the New iPad — all being A5 devices — can be downgraded using this method….

Note: This particular method only works for A5 devices, and you will need your SHSH blobs saved locally or on Cydia in order to downgrade.
Important: If you rely on a software unlock or SIM interposer, beware! This method will update your baseband, and you could permanently lose your unlock.
Step 1: Download RedSn0w 0.9.11b1 from our downloads page.
Step 2: If you don’t already have the necessary firmware available on your computer, download iOS 5.0.1 (9A405) for your device and iOS 5.1.1 for you device as well.
Step 3: Run RedSn0w as an administrator and click Extras > Even more > Restore. Under the IPSW section click the IPSW button and select your iOS 5.0.1 (9A405) firmware. Once verified, select your iOS 5.1.1 firmware.
Step 4: After your firmware has been verified, click the Remote button under the Blobs section. This will pull your blobs directly from Cydia if you have jailbroken and saved your blobs to Cydia in the past. If you haven’t, select local and point to you blobs on your computer if you saved them with a tool like TinyUmbrella. If you haven’t saved your blobs you cannot downgrade.
Step 5: Now sit back and let your device restore completely. It will start by installing a hacked 5.1.1 firmware, followed by the downgraded iOS 5.0.1 firmware. This takes about 10 minutes so be patient.
Once these 5 steps are complete, go through your device’s initial setup, and you should be back on iOS 5.0.1. Now you can use the Corona-A5 untethered jailbreak if you wish to do so.

Итак, нам нужен:
• ПК с установленной программой 3utools (через виртуальную машину из macOS лучше не пытаться, так как на этапе установки телефон перезагрузится, а macOS спросит разрешения на подключения устройства к виртуальной машине. Установка iOS сбросится).
• 3utools старой версии
• 30 пиновый кабель (для подключения к ПК)
• Файлы, скачать тут
• Прошивка, скачиваем тут (как посмотреть модель телефона, см. выше)
Для отката понадобится джейлбрейк
1. Выходим из Apple ID и iCloud
2. Выключаем Windows Defender и другие антивирусы
3. Открываем 3utools -> Инструменты -> JailBreak
4. Выбираем версию (может быть отличная от моей, к примеру, Phoenix) и нажимаем кнопку “JailBreak”
В процессе JailBreak’а может запросить аккаунт, вводим Apple ID, к которому был привязан iPhone (iPad).
5. Установится программа Phoenix, нужно будет доверить это приложение в настройках
6. Открываем Phoenix -> Prepare for JailBreak -> Start JailBreak.
7. Телефон перезагрузится, установится Cydia. Открываем Cydia и ждем. Ничего не нажимаем, так как может неправильно установиться репозиторий BigBoss, тогда надо будет все делать заново. После загрузки Cydia нажимаем на поиск и пишем iFile -> Изменить -> Установить.
Далее переходим на ПК
В 3utools открываем в боковом меню Файлы -> Пользовательская -> Downloads , нажимаем импорт и импортируем файлы.
Переходим на iPhone -> iFile -> var/mobile/Media/Downloads.
Затем поочередно нажимаем на установленные файлы -> Установить. Вылезет черный экран и много текста, нам надо дождаться надписи Finished with result code 0. После нажимаем кнопку Done. Последний файл больше, установка будет дольше.
Если вылезла ошибка 256, то открываем Cydia -> iFile -> Нажимаем переустановить. После установится последний файл (программа kDFUApp).
Открываем программу kDFUApp. Поочередно переводим все тумблеры в положение On. Красная кнопка enter DFU станет зеленой. Нажимаем ее, айфон уйдет в режим востановления.
Теперь, поверх новой версии ставим 3utools версии 2.36. Подключаем девайс, открываем 3utools -> вкладка прошивка -> расширенная прошивка -> импорт. Выбираем прошивку, которую скачали.
Подтверждаем. Ждем. Появится объемное яблоко и полоса загрузки.

Now V2.17 3uTools supports downgrading iPhone 4s and iPad 2 to iOS 6.1.3 after jailbreak without SHSH.
After you downgrade to iOS 6.1.3, you can check iOS software update on your iDevice to upgrade to iOS 8.4.1.
Requirements
1. Download and install the latest version of 3uTools.
2. Download the corresponding custom firmware for your iDevice;

4. This downgrading tutorial only applies to iPhone 4s and iPad 2 (Product type: iPad2.1, iPad 2.2, iPad 2.3 and iPad 2.4). You can check the product type of your device on 3uTools, then download the corresponding firmware.

This downloading would not save any data. You are suggested to backup your device before you downgrade.
Operations
Step 1 Launch Cydia and add repo: http://repo.tihmstar.net to enter KDFU mode (Please check the detailed tutorial). Only when your iDevice is in KDFU mode, you can downgrade to iOS 6.1.3. Please make sure your iDevice is in KDFU mode, then continue to downgrade. For iPad 2,4, you can refer this tutorial to enter KDFU mode: How to Enter KDFU Mode Using Futurerestore?
Step 2 Launch 3uTools and go to “Flash & JB” -> “Pro Flash”, click “Import Firmware” and select the firmware you have already downgraded.
Step 3 After you import the firmware, click “Flash” on the right bar.
Step 4 Now 3uTools will automatically flash your iDevice, please confirm the connection between your iDevice and pc.
Step 5 Normally, it would take around 10 minutes to downgrade.
After the process is finished, you will see the familiar interface of iOS 6, now you can activate your phone and enjoy it.

Если хочется иметь в коллекции аппараты в таком состоянии, в каком они были в актуальные времена, стоит их откатить на предыдущие версии iOS. Apple не позволяет сделать это просто так, поэтому я решил написать свежий гайд, по которому сам смог понизить на iPod touch 5 версию iOS с 9.3.5 до 8.4.1.
Какие устройства получится откатить и на какую версию
Сделать даунгрейд возможно только на определённых устройствах и только на указанные версии:
- iPhone 4S — iOS 6.1.3, iOS 8.4.1;
- iPhone 5 — iOS 8.4.1;
- iPhone 5S — iOS 10.3.3;
- iPad 2 — iOS 6.1.3 (кроме версии iPad2,4), iOS 8.4.1;
- iPad 3 — iOS 8.4.1;
- iPad 4 — iOS 8.4.1 (кроме версии iPad4,6);
- iPad mini 1 — iOS 8.4.1;
- iPad mini 2 — iOS 10.3.3;
- iPad Air 1 — iOS 10.3.3;
- iPod touch 5 — iOS 8.4.1.
При этом нельзя откатить iPhone 5C и iPad mini 3.
Что нужно для отката, насколько сложно и как долго
Для даунгрейда потребуется компьютер на macOS 10.13 и выше или на одном из указанных ниже дистрибутивов GNU/Linux.
- Ubuntu 20.04+
- Arch Linux
- Fedora 33+
- Debian 11 Bullseye
- openSUSE Tumbleweed
Если у вас Windows, можно создать загрузочную флешку с Ubuntu, например, и запустить с неё систему, откатить, а после просто извлечь накопитель и перезагрузиться обратно в Windows.
Вся операция занимает не более часа, при условии, что не возникнет проблем. А возникнуть они могут, поэтому нужно быть готовым к поиску решений.
Джейлбрейк
Этот шаг требуется только для 32-битных устройств. Владельцы 64-битных девайсов (iPhone 5S, iPad Air 1, iPad mini 2) могут пропустить этот раздел и перейти сразу к процессу даунгрейда.
Прежде всего не забудьте сделать бэкап всех данных на устройстве, если таковые есть. Сделать это можно с помощью программы iTunes на любой ОС.
Раньше для установки джейлбрейка использовали приложение Cydia Impactor, но с 2019 года этот метод стал нерабочим. На замену пришла утилита Sideloadly.
Для разных версий iOS существуют разные способы получения джейлбрейка, найти нужный можно на специальной странице. Я продемонстрирую процесс на примере iPod touch 5 на iOS 9.3.5.
Сперва надо загрузить файл приложения для джейлбрейка. В моём случае это Phoenix Jailbreak. Далее я подключаю устройство к компьютеру, даю разрешение на компьютере и устройстве (если оно появляется). Открываю утилиту Sideloadly, там выбираю iOS-девайс, перетаскиваю загруженный IPA-файл в окно программы, нажимаю Start. Как только потребуется ввести данные Apple ID, я ввожу их. Здесь отмечу, что на устройстве должен быть активирован этот же аккаунт.
После ввода данных надо немного подождать, после чего появится сообщение об успехе. Сразу после этого зайдите в «Настройки» на iOS-девайсе и в разделе «Основные» откройте «Профили». Там должен быть новый сертификат, который надо разрешить к использованию. Лишь после этого можно открыть установленное приложение и выполнить в нём действия для активации эксплойта. Например, в моём случае надо нажать Kickstart Jailbreak, дождаться автоматической перезагрузки и повторить эти действия. На второй раз в приложении будет надпись в духе «Jailbroken».
Процесс отката
Перед даунгрейдом надо сделать ещё пару подготовительных процедур. На 32-битных устройствах после джейлбрейка появится приложение Cydia. Откройте его, подождите, пока прогрузятся все источники, либо обновите их вручную кнопкой. Найдите приложение OpenSSH и установите его.
Для iPhone 5 и iPad 4 на iOS 10 потребуется ещё добавить репозиторий lukezgd.github.io/repo/
в разделе Sources, нажав Edit и потом Add. Добавив его, надо найти и установить утилиту Dropbear.
Теперь потребуется скачать с GitHub саму программу для отката. Год назад я удачно понизил версию iOS с 12 до 10.3.3 на iPhone 5S с помощью утилиты Vieux. Она так же удачно справилась с первым iPad mini, а вот на iPod touch 5 упорно выдавала ошибку. К тому же Vieux доступна только на macOS.
Поэтому в этот раз я использовал другое приложение — iOS-OTA-Downgrader. После скачивания нужно открыть терминал, перейти в директорию с программой командой cd и запустить файл restore.sh командой ./restore.sh. В моём случае набор команд был таким:
cd iOS-OTA-Downgrader
./restore.sh
В первый раз установятся все необходимые модули для работы приложения.
Далее надо подключить iOS-девайс к компьютеру и нажать Trust или «Доверять», если появится такое окно. Проверьте, что устройство отображается в файловом менеджере.
Снова запустите скрипт restore.sh.

На этот раз он уже начнёт процесс отката. Когда программа покажет меню, выберите нужный пункт — для даунгрейда надо ввести 1 и нажать Enter. Далее выберите предлагаемые опции и следуйте инструкции. Не отходите от терминала во время процесса — вскоре потребуется зажать на устройстве кнопки. Когда в терминале появится соответствующее сообщение, на 32-битном устройстве надо задержать на несколько секунд кнопку Home. Для 64-битных девайсов надо будет войти в режим DFU — программа подскажет, как это сделать. Вы поймёте, что успешно вошли в режим, если после сочетания клавиш экран останется чёрным. Если пропустите это, придётся начинать заново.
Далее остаётся только ждать. Сначала появится логотип Apple со статус-баром внизу. После успешного отката устройство автоматически включится и на экране появится приветствие, а в терминале программа сообщит о статусе.

iOS 17/18 devices (A12 devices and newer, older A10(X) iPads)

- For iPhone X, you cannot restore to any iOS versions other than signed ones or 16.6.x with blobs. All SHSH blobs for 16.5.x and lower are currently useless.

iOS 12 devices (A7 and A8 devices except iPad Air 2 and mini 4)
- Devices that fall under here have the latest iOS version 12.5.7.
- You can downgrade to as low as 11.3 with futurerestore if you have SHSH blobs
- You can downgrade with SHSH blobs using Legacy iOS Kit
- turdus medula may add support for A8(X) devices in a future update
- Tethered downgrade/dualboot: Semaphorin supports these devices for downgrading to lower iOS versions
A7 devices (iPhone 5S, iPad Air 1, iPad mini 2)
- A7 devices (except iPad4,6 and all iPad mini 3 models) can downgrade to 10.3.3 without existing blobs, using Legacy iOS Kit or LeetDown
- Unfortunately checkm8 is very unreliable on Linux, so using macOS may be the better option with iPwnder32/ipwnder_lite used for better success rates
- iPwnder Lite for iOS can also be used to put device in pwned DFU
- You can also downgrade to 10.2-10.3.2 if you have SHSH blobs
- You can go as low as 10.1.x but Touch ID will not work for 5S
- You can downgrade with SHSH blobs using Legacy iOS Kit
- You can also downgrade/dualboot tethered with Semaphorin as mentioned above
A5(X) and A6(X) devices
- Devices that fall under here have the latest iOS version 9.3.5, 9.3.6, 10.3.3, or 10.3.4.
- You can downgrade and jailbreak any of these devices (except for iPhone 5C) to iOS 8.4.1 using Legacy iOS Kit without existing blobs
- For iPhone 4S and iPad 2 (except iPad2,4) devices, iOS 6.1.3 is also an option
- You can downgrade to any iOS version that you have SHSH blobs for using Legacy iOS Kit
- You can also save on-board SHSH blobs with Legacy iOS Kit’s «Save Onboard Blobs» option
- If you have iOS 7 SHSH blobs, you can do untethered downgrades using Legacy iOS Kit (powdersn0w)
- You can also dualboot to any version using Coolbooter
- iPad 2 only: You can dualboot to iOS 4.3.x using FourThree-iPad2 or 4tify-iPad2
- 4tify-iPad2 is for macOS only
- You can downgrade tethered without blobs using Legacy iOS Kit, n1ghtshade, or Deca5
- Both n1ghtshade and Deca5 are for macOS only
- Usage of Legacy iOS Kit is recommended since both n1ghtshade and Deca5 have jailbreak issues
iPhone 4
- You can downgrade to iOS 6, 5, or 4 untethered using Legacy iOS Kit (powdersn0w)
- Only iPhone3,1 (GSM) and iPhone3,3 (CDMA) are supported for untethered downgrades
- You can also use Legacy iOS Kit to downgrade with saved SHSH blobs (see above)
- You can also use Legacy iOS Kit to do tethered downgrades
- Downgrading tethered by going to: Restore/Downgrade -> Other (Tethered)
- Do a tethered boot by going to: Other Utilities -> Just Boot
- Tethered downgrade IPSWs option is also available in Legacy iOS Kit, see below notes
- You can dualboot to any version except 4.x using Coolbooter
- You can dualboot to 4.x using 4tify (macOS only)

iPod touch 4th gen
- There are no untethered downgrade options without blobs, unfortunately.

- iOS 4.1 is signed for the 3GS, touch 2nd gen and 3rd gen, use iTunes or Legacy iOS Kit to downgrade
- Error 1015 will show up at the end of restore for iTunes. You can exit recovery mode using RecoveryModeTool
- Tethered downgrade option is also available in Legacy iOS Kit, see above notes
- For the iPod touch 3rd gen, see tethered custom IPSWs in pr3lude

iPhone 2G, 3G, and iPod touch 1st gen
- AFAIK, there is no firmware signing and they can be restored to any iOS version using an appropriate older iTunes version after placing the device in pwned DFU mode using redsn0w.
- Legacy iOS Kit also supports these devices for restoring custom IPSWs as well as restoring to any other iOS version
- Jailbreak support is for iOS 4.2.1, 4.1 and 3.1.3 for these devices
- Lowest working version is 2.0, 1.x does not work
