Hi there,
Please be gentle as I’m VERY new to the Mac world/community!
It took me quite some time but I finally managed to get my A1181 (Macbook 2.1) to run Windows 10 today. I couldn’t get the drivers downloaded through Boot Camp (3.0.4) but I’m now up and running with the exception of the IR Remote, Camera but most importantly, I’ve no audio. Zero. Nada. (I’m running Snow Leopard).
I’m coming from a Windows background so I’m pretty familiar with that side of things. In device manager I’ve no issues showing with the «Audio inputs and outputs» nor «Sound, video and game controllers».
When I go to Sound, Playback Devices, only Speakers and Digital Audio show up, no mention of headphones. I also have the red light in the headphone socket.
I’ve spent hours trawling through version forums to try to resolve my audio issue but I’ve drawn a blank. I’ve tried installing a few different drivers but it shows the ones that I’m running as the most up to date.
Any suggestions please?
A1181 Bootcamp Drivers – Make Sure You Have the Latest Version:
If you’re using a Macbook with the A1181 Bootcamp driver, you need to make sure you have the latest version of the drivers before you can continue using it. This update is required on a weekly basis, so make sure you download it from the right source. A1181 drivers are available for both Windows and Mac OS X. If you don’t have the latest driver, you can download and install the latest version from the Apple website.
Download A1181 Bootcamp Drivers (Here)
Trackpad++ Control Module is an independent and custom-crafted trackpad driver for Boot Camp:
Unlike the original Apple driver, Trackpad++ offers numerous benefits that make it the best choice for Mac users. Trackpad++ can adjust the pointer speed, invert scrolling direction, and more. It also has support for Windows 8’s two-finger gestures. Users will also appreciate its easy installation and weekly update. Whether you’re running Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux, Trackpad++ is an excellent choice for your trackpad needs.
Once downloaded, you’ll need to unzip the folder to your computer’s desktop. Unzipping a folder won’t work if one of the files opens as text. After the installation is complete, you can now perform all gestures with your trackpads, such as pinching and zooming. You can also use four-finger swiping to switch between desktops without restarting your Mac.
If you’ve got a Windows-based computer, Trackpad++ has no compatibility issues with Windows 11. You won’t need to install TPM 2.0 to use the driver. The driver has been tested on Windows 10’s final build 21H2 and is Microsoft-cross-signed. It also supports Windows 7, 8, and 11 (32-bit and 64-bit).
It requires weekly updates:
If you are using the A1181 Bootcamp on your Mac, you should update the drivers every week to keep the device working properly. If you don’t do this, your computer will run Windows 7 using the default drivers. However, if you want to change the drivers, you should first update the Mac OS. In general, you can install an update to your Mac via Apple Software Update. This update will add support for the Studio Display.
Installing Windows 10 on old MacBook
Installing Windows 10 on old MacBook? Despite Apple does not support it, you may still able to install latest Windows version on your old MacBook laptop.
First step is to install Windows to your Apple laptop, second find right drivers. Some people prefer use only Windows operating system, in this case, if you are in a hurry, you could just take out the MacBook’s hard disk, connect it to your desktop PC, begin install then shut down after first setup restart. Put it back to the MacBook and finish the installation. If you want to do it “the right way”, you need to prepare your USB drive with BootCamp support from your current Mac OS X system. Read here more about it on official Apple website: Install Windows on your Mac using a USB hard drive or flash drive.
After the Windows installation you have to find your drivers. Apple provides Boot Camp Support Software. You may also use: Free driver installation tools.
In our case we installed Windows 10 to MacBook A1181 late 2007. We tried both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 10 and for some reason 64-bit performance was slower than the 32-bit version. Probably it has to do with automatic Windows 10 video drivers update. After the installation download Boot Camp Support Software 4.0.4033 and extract it. Navigate to BootCamp\Drivers\Apple, then right click BootCamp.msi and select “Properties”. Now you have to enable “Run this program in compatibility mode for” a “Previous version of Windows”. You will need to use cmd (commander) with administrative rights in order to install it.
- Press Windows key + X and select “Command Prompt (Admin)“.
- Navigate to your BootCamp directory with cd command, for example: “cd C:\Users\Winpro\Downloads\BootCamp4.0.4033\BootCamp\Drivers\Apple” and press “Enter“.
- Now type “BootCamp.msi” and again press “Enter“.
- Follow onscreen instructions and finish installation.
- You may still be missing some drivers, navigate other directories in the BootCamp\Drivers\ and install missing audio for example which in our case was in RealTek directory.
For never MacBooks you may need to use 64-bit version and never Boot Camp Software versions.
This should help installing Windows 10 on old MacBook. Have some suggestions? Leave a comment below.

Windows у меня уже стоит и как я понял для установки драйверов нужно будет установить Mac. Или не так? Сильно не ругайте)) Если не сложно просто растолкуйте. Заранее спасибо.
