To install the Kinect for Windows Runtime:
- Make sure the Kinect sensor is not plugged into any of the USB ports on the computer.
- Remove any other drivers for the Kinect sensor.
- From the download location, double-click on KinectRuntime-v1.8-Setup.exe. This single installer works for both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows.
- Once the Kinect for Windows Runtime has completed installing successfully, ensure the Kinect sensor is plugged into an external power source and then plug the Kinect sensor into the PC’s USB port. The drivers will load automatically.
- The Kinect sensor should now be working correctly.

Driver KinectV1
SteamVR driver for Kinect for XBox 360.
Features
- No additional dependencies for SteamVR.
- Configurable motion smoothing.
- Configurable amount of trackers assigned to bones.
- Works on Windows 7, 8/8.1 and 10.
Installation
- Install Kinect for Windows Runtime 1.8 or Kinect for Windows SDK 1.8 (recommended).
- Extract latest release archive to
<SteamVR_folder>/drivers
. - Add line in section

Dashboard
Open KinectV1 Dashboard
from SteamVR dashboard to gain access to available settings for users:
- Trackers toggle: Allows you to toggle trackers for specific bones.
- Calibration info: Shows transformation of root point of trackers.
- Settings:
- Calibration: Enables changing transformation of root point. After click close SteamVR dashboard and use your controllers to change rotation and position to allign trackers with your assigned body parts:
- Left controller’s touchpad/thumbstick: Rotate left, rotate right, rotate up, rotate down. Press grip to reset rotation.
- Right controller’s touchpad/thumbstick: Move right, move left, move up, move down. Press grip to reset position.
- If trigger is pressed: move forward, move backward.
- Application menu button on any controller: End calibration and save alligned base transformation.
- Toggle tracking: Disable or enable tracking entirely.
- Interpolation type: Sets specific interpolation between Kinect frames. More info is available at Wikipedia’s article.
- Kinect relay device state: Shows if specific virtual base station is present.
- Calibration: Enables changing transformation of root point. After click close SteamVR dashboard and use your controllers to change rotation and position to allign trackers with your assigned body parts:

The Kinect for Windows Runtime provides the drivers and runtime environment required by Kinect for Windows applications using Kinect sensor technology.
- The Kinect for Windows Runtime only includes the Kinect for Windows driver and runtime environment. To start developing Kinect for Windows 2.0 applications, visit us here. The Kinect for Windows Runtime is provided for IT professionals for the purpose of pre-installing Kinect 2.0 support on system images. All other users will be provided the current driver and runtime environment on first plugin of their Kinect v2 sensor through Microsoft Windows Update.

* If you’re adding USB 3.0 functionality to your exisiting PC through a USB 3.0 host controller adapter, please ensure that it is a Windows 8 compliant device and that it supports Gen-2. See the release notes for additional information regarding USB 3.0 compatibility.

Installation Instructions
- To install the Kinect for Windows Runtime:
- Make sure the Kinect sensor is not plugged into any of the USB ports on the computer.
- Download and extract the contents of KinectRuntime-v2.2_1811.zip to a location on your PC.
- Right click kinectsensor.inf and click Install. Do not run KinectRuntime-x64.msi directly.
- Once the Kinect for Windows Runtime driver has completed installing successfully, ensure the Kinect sensor is connected to the Kinect for Windows power hub and the power hub is plugged into an outlet. Plug the USB cable from the power hub into a USB 3.0 port on your computer. The drivers will load automatically.
- Note: On first plugin, the firmware on the device will be updated. This may result in the device enumeration happening several times in the first minute.
- Installation is now complete.
