Similar to previous major updates, Windows 10 22H2 can be enabled via a small feature update. KB5015684 is the enablement Package to bring the new version to Windows 10 22H2 19045.1862. In order to upgrade to 22H2, installing KB 5015684 on your computer is sufficient.
This way you don’t need to proceed with a new installation or an in-place upgrade to install Windows 10 19045. As with the previous versions Windows 10 19041, the optional and security-relevant updates will then be legitimate for Windows 10 19045, 19044, and 19043. Windows 10 22H2 Enablement Package KB5015684
The enablement Package KB5015684 only unpacks the modifications and new features that have already been integrated into 21H2 through an update. Now, suppose you want to uninstall the Enablement Package (KB5015684) then you would be rolled back to Windows 10 21H2 (19044) and the changes would be reverted again.
The announcement of the official availability of KB5015684 and Windows 10 22H2 will only be made by Microsoft in the coming days. However, you can install this function update anytime. This package will automatically activate Windows 10 22H2 without running an in-place upgrade or using Media media creation tool or clean install using ISO.
To activate Windows 10 22H2, all you need to do is download KB5015684, enablement package, and run the file.

О подготовке большого обновления Windows 11 22H2 сообщается довольно часто, его могут выпустить осенью, кроме этого есть слухи, что в дальнейшем график обновления Windows изменится, но пока надёжных подтверждений этого нет. Что касается Windows 10, есть явные признаки подготовки обновления и для этой версии.
Ранее сообщалось, что установка необязательного обновления KB5014666 позволяет с помощью ряда консольных команд отобразить версию операционной системы 22H2. Теперь ресурс WinFuture обнаружил, что того же эффекта можно достичь уже без каких-либо команд, достаточно установить очередное необязательное обновление KB5015684 и в параметрах системы уже будет отображаться версия 22H2. Как отмечает автор ресурса, никаких новых функций заметить не удалось, возможно, это обновление вносит подготовительные изменения, чтобы позже быстро активировать обновление.
Что интересно, необязательное обновление KB5014666 рассматривается как причина очередных проблем с USB-принтерами. После установки операционная система может отображать дубликаты принтеров, а печать из приложений, ссылающихся на принтер по определённому имени, может не работать, — отмечается в списке проблем на сайте Microsoft.

Note that the official article says you need to check Windows 10 as Products, which is wrong actually. What you need is Windows 10, 1903 and later.

Here’s an interesting item. Turns out that MS has made KB5015684 available through its update servers. Thanks to the team at DeskModder.de you can find x86, x64 and ARM64 versions of either .CAB or .MSU files. All have links of the form https://catalog.s.download.windowsupdate.com/c/upgr/2022/07/windows10.0-kb5015684-xxx.cab or .msu. They must be legit, right? Hence my claim that KB501864 provides quick Windows 10 22H2 upgrade.
I just ran it on my production Windows 10 PC, and it went through without hitch or glitch. Completed in under 2 minutes, including download, install and reboot time, too. May be worth a try for those with Windows 10 PCs not expected to elevate to Windows 11 soon (or ever). So far, I see no discernable changes in look, feel, or behavior — just a new Build number 19045 (vs. 19044). Same minor extension as before, in fact: 1826.
What KB501864 Provides Quick Windows 10 22H2 Upgrade Really Means
Two things:
1. MS is getting close enough to a 22H2 public release for a preview to go out.
2. The code for the 22H2 release is stable enough to start it through the Windows Insider program.
Note: I didn’t have to join the Insider program to install this update, which appears as a “Quality Update” in Update History. The Windows Insider Program page on this PC, post-update, does NOT show itself as “joined-up” either. So one need not be concerned that applying the update automagically changes the PC’s status to that of an Insider machine. That’s a relief!
I ran the .MSU x64 version of the upgrade, simply because a self-installing update file is a little easier to apply than CAB files can sometimes be. You can find all links in the original Deskmodder.de article (6 files in all). It might be a good idea to apply this upgrade to test machines with some caution, if you’re concerned about possible unwanted side effects. That didn’t stop (or hurt) me on this PC, though…
