Этот набор средств предназначен для тех, кто хочет заблокировать автоматическую доставку Internet Explorer 11 на компьютеры, где включено автоматическое обновление. Срок действия набора не ограничен.

Примечание.
- На компьютерах с системами Windows 7 и Windows Server 2008 R2 набор средств блокирует автоматическую доставку Internet Explorer 11 в качестве обновления с сайтов Центра обновления Windows и Центра обновления Майкрософт.
- Он не блокирует ручную установку Internet Explorer 11 через Центр загрузки Майкрософт или внешние источники.
- Организациям не требуется развертывать набор средств блокировки в средах, где для обновлений используются специализированные решения, например службы Windows Server Update Services или System Center 2012 Configuration Manager. 1. Щелкните ссылку, чтобы загрузить пакет, и нажмите кнопку «Запустить» или «Открыть». Чтобы получить доступ к содержимому пакета, нужно принять условия лицензионного соглашения (EULA). Пакет содержит 4 разных файла.
2. Выберите место, куда следует поместить эти 4 файла, нажав кнопку «Обзор». Указав место для сохранения извлеченных файлов, нажмите кнопку «ОК».
3. Запустите командную строку с правами администратора, открыв раздел «Пуск» -> «Все программы» -> «Стандартные» ->, щелкнув пункт «Командная строка» правой кнопкой мыши и выбрав «Запуск от имени администратора». Введите «CD», а затем — путь, по которому на шаге 2 были извлечены 4 файла.
4. В командной строке введите «ie11_blocker.cmd /B» и нажмите ВВОД, чтобы запустить блокировщик на компьютере.
5. В командной строке появится подтверждение: “Blocking deployment of Internet Explorer 11 on the local machine. The operation completed successfully.” После этого можно закрыть командную строку.

If you are using Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 operating system and getting frequent notifications to upgrade the older version of Internet Explorer web browser present in your computer to the latest Internet Explorer 11 version, this tutorial will help you in disabling those prompt messages to make your life easier and more comfortable.

Recently Microsoft released a new update KB3123303 for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 which detects the installed version of Internet Explorer (IE) web browser in computers and if it finds an older version of IE such as IE8, IE9 or IE10, it starts notifying the users about the discontinued support for the older version of Internet Explorer. It also asks users to upgrade to the latest version of Internet Explorer which is version 11.

This notification is called “End of Support” or “End of Life” and is shown when the user launches Internet Explorer web browser. It automatically opens a new tab in the browser containing download page of IE11. This notification is not displayed on every launch of Internet Explorer. Once the notification is shown and you close the tab, it waits for 72 hours i.e. 3 days and after 72 hours the notification shows again.

Its actually a good move by Microsoft as it alerts users about the end of support for Internet Explorer older versions and also helps them in upgrading to the latest version of Internet Explorer. But there might be some situations when a user doesn’t want to upgrade to latest IE11 version. In such situation, the regular notification prompt to upgrade to IE11 might be very annoying to the user.

Today in this tutorial, we are going to share a Registry tweak to get rid of the notification of IE11 upgrade. Once you apply this trick, you’ll no longer receive the IE11 upgrade notification in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.

So if you are using IE8, IE9 or IE10 versions in Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems and want to turn off notifications to upgrade to latest version of Internet Explorer web browser in your computer, check out following simple steps:

1. Type regedit in RUN or Start Menu search box and press Enter. It’ll open Registry Editor.

2. Now go to following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl

3. Create a new key under FeatureControl key and set its name as FEATURE_DISABLE_IE11_SECURITY_EOL_NOTIFICATION

4. Now select FEATURE_DISABLE_IE11_SECURITY_EOL_NOTIFICATION key and in right-side pane create a new DWORD iexplore.exe and set its value to 1

NOTE: If you are using 64-bit edition of Windows, you’ll also need to follow the same steps 3-4 for following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl

If this key doesn’t exist in your computer, that means you are using 32-bit edition of Windows.

5. You may need to restart your computer to take effects. It’ll permanently disable the EOL notification and will never prompt you to upgrade to Internet Explorer 11 version.

PS: In future, if you want to enable notification to upgrade to IE11, delete the FEATURE_DISABLE_IE11_SECURITY_EOL_NOTIFICATION key.

Automatic updates in Windows is a great feature to keep various components up-to-date and patched from the known vulnerabilities. But some of the users prefer to take all the control of updating their system in their own hands, and manually download the updates from the Microsoft website. I personally like to wait for a few days to pass after Microsoft has released the updates to avoid any buggy updates as some of the problematic updates may cause unexpected problems in Windows. For example,a few months ago, an update for Windows 8.1 actually caused BSOD (blue screen of death) in some computers. This is why I disable Internet Explorer automatic updates and manually download them every month myself.

If you want to disable the Internet Explorer 11 automatic updates, then you can follow these steps:

First of all launch the Internet Explorer 11 from one of its shortcuts in Start Menu, desktop or the taskbar.
In the Internet Explorer window, click on the gear-like icon and then select About Internet Explorer in the menu that pops out.

This will cause a small window to show up displaying the currently installed version and updates for your copy of Internet Explorer. You have to uncheck the checkbox labeled Install new versions automatically to disable the automatic updates.
Windows will show up the UAC prompt, after which the automatic installation of newer updates versions of Internet Explorer 11 is disabled.

In this tutorial, I will explain step by step how you can disable Internet Explorer 11 automatic update by group policy, Group Policy is a feature of the Microsoft Windows NT family of operating systems that control the working environment of user accounts and computer accounts.

Group Policy provides centralized management and configuration of operating systems, applications, and users, Microsoft distributes Internet Explorer 11 as a high-priority update through Automatic Updates for latest Windows Server, so some organizations require to shut it down or disabling the automatic update of it.

1. From “ServerManager” click on Tools, then click on “Group Policy Management”.

2. Right-click the group policy which linked with your domain controller then click on “Edit”.

3. Expand “Computer Configuration”,”Policies”, right-click “Administrative Tools” and click “Add/Remove Templates”.

4. Click “Add” and select the “ADM” template that you can download from HERE.

The Internet Explorer 11 Blocker Toolkit enables users to disable automatic delivery of Internet Explorer 11 as an important class update via Automatic Updates (AU) feature of Windows Update (WU).

5. After you added the downloaded template expand “Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Classic Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Automatic Updates Blockers v3”.

6. Right-click the only policy there and click “Edit”.

7. This newly added policy gives you the option to disable delivery of Internet Explorer 11 via Automatic Updates. check “Enabled” then click OK.

8. Your final step that you run “gpupdate /force” on all the clients, so the new group policy settings reflect.

If you want to disable or stop users from automatically upgrading to IE11 through windows update then follow the guide below. Please note that it will not stop users downloading IE11 manually and installing it.

1) Login to your domain controller with the Group Policy Management Console
2) Download the IE11 Blocker adm file from Here
3) Open up the Group Policy Management Console
4) Branch out the GPMC until you can see the folder Group Policy Objects.
5) Right click on the Group Policy Objects Folder and click New

6) Under name type “Block Internet Explorer 11” then click ok

7) You will then see the group policy you just created appear under Group Policy objects. Right click on it and click edit.

The group policy editor will now appear.

9) Branch out computer configuration, then policies then Administrative Templates. Right click on the administrative templates folder and then click on Add/Remote Templates.

10) When the Add / Remove Template box appears click Add.

11) Browse to the location where you saved the .adm file you downloaded earlier and double click on it. You should then see it listed in the Add / Remove template window. Then click close

12) Now you have imported the .adm branch out Computer configuration, Policies, Administrative templates, Classic Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Windows Update, and click on Automatic Updates Blockers v3.

13) You will now see on the right a setting called “Do not allow delivery of Internet Explorer 11 through Automatic Updates.

14) Double click on the setting above and then select Enable to block and disabled to allow. Then click ok.

15) Close on the cross in the top right corner to close the editor down and to take you back on the GPMC.

16) In this example I want to block IE11 across the whole domain. So to do this I would right click on the domain level and click link an existing GPO.
