1. Why do I have to install ietabhelper.exe?
IE Tab uses the Internet Explorer rendering engine. This rendering engine can’t be directly accessed from a Chrome extension, so we need a helper process to communicate between the Chrome extension and the rendering engine.
2. Did IE Tab always require this extra program?
No. Chrome used to support a technology called NPAPI (the Netscape Plugin API) which allowed extensions to access local computer resources. IE Tab used to use that functionality to access the Internet Explorer rendering engine. But Chrome removed NPAPI support, so we were forced to implement a new solution, and that solution requires a separate helper executable. From a technical standpoint, the only real change is that our code moved from an NPAPI .DLL file to a helper .EXE file.
3. Is the IE Tab Helper application safe?
Absolutely! IE Tab has always used native code, and we have always treated the security of our 2+ million users very seriously. So you can rest assured that this helper executable is secure and trustworthy.

IE Tab — a small plugin that allows you to browse the Internet pages that are optimized for Internet Explorer, through other browsers (Mozilla Firefox, Flock). This is necessary when travelling across the network, you encounter sites that do not display the information correctly. The plugin allows you to open any site in a new or current tab of Firefox using the engine from Internet Explorer, as well as, if necessary, to transfer the current page to the above mentioned browser. Besides, the program provides the possibility to set up automatic opening of sites intended for the IE engine.
After installing the IE Tab, all you have to do is right-click on the desired page and select «Display page in IE Tab» from the context menu. You can also launch the plugin using the IE Tab icon in the status bar (at the bottom of the Firefox browser window) or display a special icon in the navigation bar. The page will reboot «in Internet Explorer style» while remaining in Mozilla’s browser window.

IE Tab is a web browser extension. It is basically for the Google Chrome browser. However, it works in every Chromium browser.This extension allows users to view pages using MSHTML, the Internet Explorer browser engine. It is highly necessary for those websites which have special rendering properties to Internet Explorer. It currently has the GNU GPL license.
This extension works as an emulator for emulating the Internet Explorer environment inside the Chromium browser. However, it needs a separate executable file named ietabhelper.exe.
Users can create a custom list of URLs that will automatically open in the IE Tab each time. It also has additional group policy support for enterprise development. It can use Java, Silverlight, and ActiveX in Chrome seamlessly. Additionally, this extension never collects any user data.

IE Tab is wonderful! Now I don’t have to deal with issues that come up when I’m using my favorite browser. I prefer Firefox, but sometimes websites don’t always display correctly. I didn’t realize what the issue was until I came across IE Tab. Apparently they are optimized for Internet Explorer. Now I can keep using the browser I prefer without dealing with optimization issues.

Honestly… a little stupid. Why would I download an extension in Chrome to open websites on Internet Explorer. Wouldn’t it make or sense to just install Internet Explorer? I guess if for some reason I don’t have Internet Explorer and just had Chrome.. or if I had a website that doesn’t work on Chrome, then maybe it makes sense. But for the most part, it just seems like an unnecessary hassle.

Уважаемые пользователи систем видеонаблюдения «SVN», для доступа к WEB-интерфейсу оборудования через браузер Google Chrome необходимо установить расширение IE Tab.
1. Перейдите в интернет-магазин Chrome по ссылке

2. В открывшемся окне нажмите кнопку «Установить»
3. В появившемся диалоговом окне необходимо подтвердить установку, нажав кнопку «Установить расширение».
4.После установки в панеле расширение появится кнопка с изображением буквы «E». Необходимо нажать эту иконку и установить скачанный файл ietabhelper.exe.
5. Установка расширения завершена. Далее в строке адреса указываем сетевой адрес устройства и нажимаем клавишу «Enter». Откроется окно установки плагина (если еще не устанавливали — устанавливаем).
6. Нажимаем иконку расширения IE Tab.
ВНИМАНИЕ: мы настоятельно рекомендумендуем использовать именно Internet Explorer, т.к. при использовании других браузеров возможно некоректное отображение web-страниц.
