Using winget tool
Install winget tool if you don’t already have it, then type this command in command prompt or Powershell.
winget install --id Git.Git -e --source winget
The current source code release is version 2.49.0.
If you want the newer version, you can build it from the source code.

Git Portable
Git Portable is a portable version of Git for Windows packaged in PortableApps.com Format.

Installing
The preferred method of installing Git Portable is the .paf.exe installer (why?). It will download Git for Windows as part of the install process.
Manual Installation
If you prefer, you can alternatively install Git Portable manually:
- Copy the
GitPortabledirectory from this repository to a location of your choice. - Download Git for Windows Portable («thumbdrive edition») from https://git-scm.com/download/win and extract it to the
GitPortable\App\Gitdirectory. - Run the following command to complete the installation:
"GitPortable\App\Git\git-bash.exe" --no-needs-console --hide --no-cd --command=post-install.bat
The manual installation instructions can also be used to update the version of Git within an existing Git Portable installation.
Git Portable is the Git version control system packaged with a PortableApps.com
launcher as a portable app, so you can use Git on your iPod, USB flash drive,
portable hard drive, etc. It has all the same features as Git, plus, it leaves
no personal information behind on the machine you run it on, so you can take it
with you wherever you go.

For Hacktoberfest, Chocolatey ran a livestream every Tuesday! Re-watch Cory, James, Gary, and Rain as they share knowledge on how to contribute to open-source projects such as Chocolatey CLI.

This is a portable version of Git, which means that you don’t have to install the software for you to use it. Simply download the zip file, extract the contents to either your internal hard drive or external USB drive and run the executable file of the application. In addition, you don’t have to worry about the application leaving entries in your registry.
Git is a version control system for coordinating work on those files among multiple people. It is primarily used for source-code management in software development, but it can be used to keep track of changes in any set of files.
It enables you to create specific and independent branches of codes. In order to make use of this application, you need to have the required programming skills as the application is not built for newcomers or learners.
The application features a console-like interface that can be accessed from the Command Prompt window. It serves to give flexibility to programmers, enabling them to carry the application around without having to carry their PC.
Portable Git is licensed as freeware for PC or laptop with Windows 32 bit and 64 bit operating system. It is in programming category and is available to all software users as a free download.
