Where is the iTunes executable file located on windows?
I can’t find any itunes folder on my PC after I updated it and downloaded it from the windows store. It runs like crap now, I need to configure the exe.

iTunes PC version problem
The current Win 10 version is 12.12.5.8, which is what it shows in iTunes > About after I open it from my Win 10 desktop. The target there under Properties is «C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe.» But when I go to that folder location, under iTunes.exe Properties > Details, it shows as 12.12.4.1. How can that be? I discovered the discrepancy after updating it on a cue from the utility PatchMyPC. Thanks,

Uninstall the Microsoft Store version of iTunes. Reinstall from https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.

If your computer runs either Windows 10 or Windows 8, you can head to the following directory on your computer to find the iPhone firmware files. That is where iTunes stores your firmwares.

Windows 10 — version 1903
If you are running Windows 10 but you are on the version number 1903, then there is a slight change in the directory where iTunes saves your iPhone firmware files. You will find your firmwares in the following folder on your Windows 10 PC.
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Packages\AppleInc.iTunes_nzyj5cx40ttqa\LocalCache\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates

Since iTunes runs and supports both Windows 7 and Vista, you will find the downloaded iPhone firmware files in the following directory on your Windows computer.

If you are an Apple Mac user, your iPhone’s firmwares are saved at the following path on your computer. You can access this path using the Finder on your Mac.

Part 2. How to Find and Delete iPhone Firmware Files in iTunes?
Now that you know where your iPhone and iPad’s firmwares are located, you may want to get rid of them if you do not plan to use them. This way you will be able to clear the memory space on your computer making room for other apps and files on your machine.
You can get to the iTunes download location and delete the iPhone firmware files as follows on your Windows computer.

Обо всем по порядку.
1. Резервные копии iTunes в Windows 7/8/10 хранятся по пути: C:\Пользователи\имя_пользователя\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\. Для того, чтобы папка была видна в системе должно быть включено отображение скрытых файлов и папок.
Попробуйте найти данные там, отсортировать их по дате создания и удалить ненужные.
2. Если процесс копирования завершился аварийно, и место на диске не освобождается, пробуйте очистить его всевозможными утилитами-оптимизаторами. Вручную очищайте папку C:\Windows\Temp и перезагружайте компьютер.
3. Для переноса резервных копий на другой диск нужно:
- Закрыть iTunes.
- Переместить папку «C:\Users\имя_пользователя\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\» на другой диск. На старом месте её остаться не должно.
- Запустить командную строку «сmd.exe» с правами администратора («Пуск» > «Найти программы и файлы» > «cmd» > Правой кнопкой мыши > «Запуск от имени администратора»).
- Ввести команду: MKLINK /D «откуда» «куда».
- Нажать Enter.
Вместо «откуда» укажите путь, где ранее лежали резервные копии, вместо «куда» – новое расположение файлов. Теперь можете запустить iTunes и на вкладке с резервными копиями проверить наличие перенесенных бэкапов.
