Недавно фанаты Lost Planet и других старых игр Capcom получили таинственный сигнал. Похоже, что для игр готовят обновление.

В базе SteamDB замечено некое обновление для Lost Planet (2006). Также подобные записи есть о Lost Planet 2, Street Fighter x Tekken, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City.

Все эти игры объединяет привязка к сервису Games for Windows Live. Его уже давно закрыли, а некоторые из указанных игр «временно» прекратили продавать, пока изучают проблемы, связанные с GFWL. Фанаты надеются, что Capcom нашла способ вернуть проекты в продажу.

To make my hell story short:

Bought Lost Planet 2 via Steam in 2014….

  1. Games for Windows Live (GFWL) — GFWL cannot connect to login service — Lost Planet 2

    Wasted an hour of my time to get this to work to realize it’s not my machine.

    To make my hell story short:

    Bought Lost Planet 2 via Steam in 2014.

    Key assigned to Games for Windows live, assigned to my account, played the game.

    Now I want to play it again, re-installs GFWL.

    I connect to GFWL directly and it cannot grab any of my purchase history or any information.

    Tries to play it again on Windows 10, it says my key is assigned to another account, it cannot connect to Games for Windows Live.

    To support:

    Do not ask me if my system and setup is wrong, it’s not.

    I checked the GWFL logs and it’s all invalid reference calls and cannot grab any data from
    your servers.

    My account cannot sign in without being asked for a key when I sign in my account, and when I check network connectivity I get errors from your servers.

    I do get a ping response from «services.gamesforwindows.com» as 131.253.29.14

  6. ISSUE’S WITH CONNECTING PC GAME TO LIVE!!!

    Plants vs Zombies is not a GFWL game and does not have achievements tied to the XBL/GFWL service.

    Only games that are marked Games For Windows Live will have achievements. Not all games purchased from the GFW marketplace are GFWL. There are also games marked Games For Windows, these will not have achievements.

    I am having the same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Things I have tried that did not work:

    -This — https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2564487 — pressing enter does nothing

    -Resetting modem

    -Reinstalling game

    -Reinstalling GFWL

    -Various things to bypass use of GFWL

    I currently no longer have GWFL installed at all. Below are screenshots of the exact issue.

    First window: «Games for Windows — LIVE must verify the release date of your game. Please make sure your computer is connected to the internet.»

    Second window: «Game for windows — LIVE cannot connect to the live service. Please make sure your computer is connected to the internet.»

    I don’t think BF3 would be on GFWL now that EA has Orgin now. I think they stop putting all their new release on other gaming services for PC at least.

    Games for Windows Live has been officially dead for more than three years with, with support for Microsoft’s first attempt at a PC gaming platform ending in July of 2014. Many games that once used the service have moved on to Steamworks or been rereleased in different versions in order to avoid the perils of being tied to dead DRM. Lost Planet 2 is not one of those games, and several Steam watchdogs noticed earlier today on SteamDB that the game had been pulled from sale.

    Considering the game is a mostly online affair and players are tied to servers even in single player, some feared the worst about the game’s future. However, after we reached out to Capcom, a note was posted on the game’s Steam community with the following message.

    Hello Lost Planet fans,

    We apologize for the removal of Lost Planet 2’s «Add to Cart» button on the Steam Store page. This removal is temporary as we work on replenishing the Games for Windows Live (GFWL) keys that are supposed to come with purchases of the game. We will issue an update to this announcement once GFWL keys have been restored. We apologize for any inconvenience!

    So, the game is not being removed from sale permanently, and it was never removed from Xbox 360 and PS3 stores at all. In this case, it’s just a reminder of the grim past of digital distribution.

    Quick Thoughts

    It’s kind of ridiculous that GFWL is still causing problems for games that didn’t jump ship years ago, but here we are. Considering the game’s population rates and its mixed reception upon release, it’s doubtful that the current form of Lost Planet 2 will ever get a patch to remove Games for Windows Live. It’s up to Microsoft and Capcom to continue generating keys, but how long before even that doesn’t make sense? DRM can be a nasty business sometimes.
