Проверяем исходный код FreeCAD и его «нехорошие» зависимости

Статья, которая задумывалась как обзор ошибок в открытом проекте FreeCAD, приобрела немного другой характер. Весомая часть предупреждений анализатора пришлась на используемые сторонние библиотеки. Разработка программного обеспечения с активным использованием сторонних библиотек даёт много плюсов, особенно в сфере Open Source. И ошибки в библиотеках не повод отказываться от них. Но надо понимать, что в используемом коде тоже могут жить баги. Их надо быть готовым встретить и по возможности исправить, тем самым улучшив используемые вами библиотеки.

FreeCAD — параметрический трехмерный редактор, позволяющий создавать объемные модели и чертежи их проекций. Разработчик FreeCAD Юрген Ригель, работающий в корпорации DaimlerChrysler, позиционирует свою программу как первый бесплатный инструмент проектирования механики. В среде специалистов ряда отраслей известна проблема создания полноценной САПР в рамках Open Source, и этот проект является кандидатом на такую «полноценность». Проверим же исходный код с помощью PVS-Studio и поможем открытому проекту в этой области стать чуточку лучше. Наверняка вы сталкивались с «глюками» в различных редакторах, когда не удаётся попасть в какую-нибудь точку или выпрямить линию, которая всегда съезжает на один пиксель. Возможно, причиной всего этого являются лишь опечатки в исходном коде.

Что с PVS-Studio?!

Проект FreeCAD является кросс-платформенным, на сайте есть очень хорошая документация по сборке. Мне не составило труда получить проектные файлы для Visual Studio Community 2013 для проверки с помощью установленного плагина PVS-Studio. Но в начале проверка не задалась…

Причиной внутренней ошибки в анализаторе стало наличие бинарной последовательности в текстовом препроцессированном файле с расширением *.i. Анализатор умеет обрабатывать такие ситуации, но тут произошло что-то новое. Проблема в одной из строчек в параметрах компиляции исходных файлов:

Флаг компиляции /FI (Name Forced Include File), как и директива #include, служат для включения текстовых заголовочных файлов. Но здесь пытаются включить файл, содержащий информацию в бинарном виде. Это каким-то чудом компилируется. Возможно, в Visual C++ такой файл просто игнорируется.

Если попытаться не компилировать, а именно препроцессировать файлы, то Visual C++ сообщает об ошибке. А вот используемый в PVS-Studio по умолчанию Clang, недолго думая, включил *.i файл бинарный файл. PVS-Studio не ожидал такого подвоха и сошёл с ума.

Чтобы было понятней, о чем идёт речь, вот фрагмент препроцессирпованного с помощью Clang файла:

Проект был аккуратно проверен без этого флага, но хочу обратить внимание разработчиков, что у них здесь ошибка.

Первые примеры ошибок из проекта получены по известной всем причине.

V501 There are identical sub-expressions ‘surfaceTwo->IsVRational()’ to the left and to the right of the ‘!=’ operator. modelrefine.cpp 780

По левую сторону оператора неравенства обнаружилась не та переменная «surfaceTwo» вместо «surfaceOne» из-за маленькой опечатки. Осталось посоветовать автору в следующий раз делать copy-paste фрагментами побольше, но и до таких примеров мы тоже дойдём =).

V517 The use of ‘if (A) <. >else if (A) <. >‘ pattern was detected. There is a probability of logical error presence. Check lines: 162, 164. taskpanelview.cpp 162

Чего это мы обратили внимание на функцию, которая ещё пишется? А вот почему: с этим кодом скорее всего будет тоже самое, что и в следующих двух примерах.

V517 The use of ‘if (A) <. >else if (A) <. >‘ pattern was detected. There is a probability of logical error presence. Check lines: 1465, 1467. application.cpp 1465

Будем надеется, что автор случайно не поправил одну скопированную строчку, но в итоге всё равно дописал поиск всех необходимых строк.

V517 The use of ‘if (A) <. >else if (A) <. >‘ pattern was detected. There is a probability of logical error presence. Check lines: 191, 199. blendernavigationstyle.cpp 191

А вот, на мой взгляд, серьёзная ошибка для такого приложения. При моделировании много работы выполняется с помощью навигации мышкой, а тут такой ляп: исходный код в последнем условии никогда не получает управление, потому что первое условие такое же и выполняется первым.

V523 The ‘then’ statement is equivalent to the ‘else’ statement. viewproviderfemmesh.cpp 695

Независимо от условия, всегда выполняется одно действие. Может всё-таки так задумывалось:

Почему я исправил именно последнюю строку? Возможно, вас заинтересует статья на эту тему: Эффект последней строки. Но возможно, надо исправить первую. Не знаю :).

V570 The ‘this->quat[3]’ variable is assigned to itself. rotation.cpp 260

Ещё о «последних строках». Анализатор насторожился, так как в последней строке нет знака минуса. Но тут нельзя однозначно говорить об ошибке, возможно, при реализации такого преобразования, хотели подчеркнуть, что четвёртая компонента не изменяется.

V576 Incorrect format. A different number of actual arguments is expected while calling ‘fprintf’ function. Expected: 2. Present: 3. memdebug.cpp 222

Такой код не имеет смысла. Если указатель нулевой, то можно просто печатать символ новой строки без передачи в функцию неиспользуемых параметров.

V596 The object was created but it is not being used. The ‘throw’ keyword could be missing: throw Exception(FOO); waypointpyimp.cpp 231

В коде создаётся объект типа исключения, но не используется. По всей видимости пропущено ключевое слово «throw»:

В базовом классе «Curve» объявлены виртуальные функции, но не объявлен деструктор, который будет создан по умолчанию. И он конечно будет не виртуальным! Это означает, что объекты, наследуемые от этого класса, не будут полностью очищены при таком сценарии использования, когда указатель на дочерний объект сохраняется в указатель на базовый класс. Судя по комментарию, у базового класса наследуемых классов много, например, приведённый класс «Line» в примере.

Анализатор обнаружил бессмысленное сложение строк. Если приглядеться, то, возможно, тут хотели использовать оператор ‘+=’ вместо простого сложения. Тогда такой код имел бы смысл.

Неизвестно, какой из операндов оператора %= будет вычислен первым. Соответственно, правильно работает выражение или нет, зависит от везения.

Пробуйте и внедряйте статические анализаторы для регулярной проверки своих проектов, а также используемых сторонних библиотек. Это сэкономит время при написании нового кода, а также при поддержке старого.

Как установить и настроить программу Freecad

Системные требования для установки Freecad

Версии для Windows могут работать с ПО, начиная с седьмой. Других особых системных требований нет, так как Freecad потребляет системные ресурсы экономно. Считается, что она нормально работает даже на относительно слабых компьютерах.

Если имеется минимум 800 МБ оперативной памяти, а процессор работает с частотой 800 МГц, то этого вполне достаточно для полноценной работы этой системы проектирования. Как правило, современные компьютеры имеют значительно лучшие характеристики.

Настройка программы для работы

Программа сразу после инсталляции готова к работе. Пользователь может поменять настройки по своему вкусу. Чтобы получить к ним доступ, через главное меню выбирают «Edit». Затем переходят к разделу «Preferences». Здесь все разделено на несколько групп:

Удаление утилиты с компьютера

Далее нужно перейти к разделу, посвящённому удалению программ. Там в списке выбирают Freecad и кликают по строке правой клавишей мыши. Через появившееся контекстное меню нажимают «Удалить».

После этого начинается процедура деинсталляции, на протяжении которой нужно следовать инструкциям. После её окончания программа будет удалена.

All the main required components are usually bundled within your FreeCAD installation or provided by your package manager, so normally you have nothing to worry about. On some older Windows XP systems you may get an error message like this: The application can’t start, because the side-by-side configuration is wrong. The reinstallation of the application may solve the problem. The reason for this problem is that on your system either the CRT runtime libraries are missing or the version installed is too old because FreeCAD was linked against a newer version. In this case you have to install the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package which you’ll find at Microsoft. See also the corresponding forum message.

You most likely have bad windows regional settings set-up. Please check if you have the same symbol for decimal separator and digit grouping symbol in your regional settings. If you do, adapt your system settings to use different characters for the digit grouping symbol and decimal separator. Note that it is not mandatory to have dot as decimal separator. It is mandatory to use different symbols in these two settings.

FreeCAD was running normally, and suddenly it doesn’t start anymore

This can also happen if you had an older version of FreeCAD installed, and you upgraded to a newer version. In that process, the configuration files of FreeCAD might have been corrupted for some reason, and now FreeCAD cannot read them anymore, and fails to start. The solution is simply to delete these configuration files, so FreeCAD will recreate them on first run.

FreeCAD should now start again normally with all its settings reset.

There is a Macro findConfigFiles available to help in locating your configuration files. It can be installed using the Addon Manager in the Tools menu. Tools → Addon Manager → Macros → findConfigFiles. The macro will find your config file folder, copy it to the clipboard, and (attempt to) open that location with your default file browser. It makes no changes to your files or settings.

How do I extrude stuff into solids? I don’t get the right result

The theory is simple: Lines (or wires), when extruded, form faces. Faces, when extruded, form solids. If you extrude something and the result is not a solid, then the something was not a face. If you have lines and you want to extrude a solid from them, you must first select lines that form a closed perimeter (select several objects by pressing Ctrl ), join them into a wire (Draft Upgrade tool), then make a face from that wire ( Upgrade tool again). There you are, if all went well you can now extrude it to a solid.

Now, there can be many little twists that make you obtain the wrong result. The best way to make sure is to check what’s inside the object you are extruding. Objects contents can be easily explored with python. Assuming for example you have an object called «Wire», you could type this into the Python console:

The above code retrieves the shape from an object, shows the faces and wires your object has (if any), and, if there are wires, prints if those wires are closed. If you don’t have any face, you won’t get a solid. If there is no closed wire, it won’t become a face. If you are interested, there is more info about what you can check with Python on the part scripting page. If you cannot join several lines into a wire, the most probable cause is that their endpoints don’t meet, there must be small gaps between (some of) them. There, I’m afraid, my experience tells me the quickest way would be to redraw a wire on top of them.

My boolean operations fail, or give weird results

The Open CASCADE geometric modeling kernel used in FreeCAD for Part geometry, although probably the best open-source geometry kernel available, has its flaws and limitations. Indeed the boolean operations (fusion, subtraction, intersection) are not its best features, and often give strange results. This is a current limitation we have no way to solve at once, so your best path is to try obtaining the desired result by modeling another way. For example, problems with primitives such as cylinder can often be solved by using an extruded circle instead. Coplanar surfaces between parts can cause trouble, as well as surface tangency. When I export (or view) my model, the holes are filled in

Don’t use Crtl + A (Select All) to export everything from the hierarchy tree. If the model is of one single item, try selecting only the newest item (usually the last one) in the hierarchy tree.

My parametric objects break when I modify their base sketches

You have met the (in)famous toponaming problem. This is currently a major issue in FreeCAD for newcomers. It is present all over FreeCAD, but is more prominent when using sketches. The explanation is simple: When recalculating a sketch, the geometric entities (edges, faces. ) are rebuilt in a different order, depending on the constraints precedence. They then receive a different name (Edge1, Edge2, Face1, Face2. ). Most subsequent operations depend on these names to identify which subcomponent they work on. Therefore, when the sketch is rebuilt, features that are based on such subcomponents might suddenly get their base geometry changed and give a wrong result.

This is a very hard problem to overcome (the Topological Naming Project aims at solving it). However, there are many workarounds available to mitigate the problem, and more advanced users generally manage to avoid it completely. A couple of strategies are:

FreeCAD закрывается при запуске

потом исчезает, на мгновение появляется окно программы, тут же сворачивается и всё, тишина. Переустанавливать и запускать в режиме совместимости, а так же от Администратора пробовал. Возможно, что после каких-то обновлений винды. Никто не сталкивался?

Нет, дрова родные nvidia (карта GTX-960). В Линуксе, кстати, с лайф-сд, нормально ФриКАД запускается.

Попробовал Питона переустановить. Не помогло. Кстати, какой ему Питон нужен 3 или 2?

Добрый день! Скачал версию 19.2
Не запускается. Появляется пустое окно с этим:

You most likely have bad windows regional settings set-up. Please check if you have the same symbol for decimal separator and digit grouping symbol in your regional settings. If you do, adapt your system settings to use different characters for the digit grouping symbol and decimal separator. Note that it is not mandatory to have dot as decimal separator. It is mandatory to use different symbols in these two settings.

FreeCAD was running normally, and suddenly it doesn’t start anymore

This can also happen if you had an older version of FreeCAD installed, and you upgraded to a newer version. In that process, the configuration files of FreeCAD might have been corrupted for some reason, and now FreeCAD cannot read them anymore, and fails to start. The solution is simply to delete these configuration files, so FreeCAD will recreate them on first run.

FreeCAD should now start again normally with all its settings reset.

There is a Macro findConfigFiles available to help in locating your configuration files. It can be installed using the Addon Manager in the Tools menu. Tools → Addon Manager → Macros → findConfigFiles. The macro will find your config file folder, copy it to the clipboard, and (attempt to) open that location with your default file browser. It makes no changes to your files or settings.

How do I extrude stuff into solids? I don’t get the right result

The theory is simple: Lines (or wires), when extruded, form faces. Faces, when extruded, form solids. If you extrude something and the result is not a solid, then the something was not a face. If you have lines and you want to extrude a solid from them, you must first select lines that form a closed perimeter (select several objects by pressing Ctrl ), join them into a wire (Upgrade tool), then make a face from that wire (Upgrade tool again). There you are, if all went well you can now extrude it to a solid.

Now, there can be many little twists that make you obtain the wrong result. The best way to make sure is to check what’s inside the object you are extruding. Objects contents can be easily explored with python. Assuming for example you have an object called «Wire», you could type this into the python console:

The above code retrieves the shape from an object, shows the faces and wires your object has (if any), and, if there are wires, prints if those wires are closed. If you don’t have any face, you won’t get a solid. If there is no closed wire, it won’t become a face. If you are interested, there is more info about what you can check with python on the part scripting page. If you cannot join several lines into a wire, the most probable cause is that their endpoints don’t meet, there must be small gaps between (some of) them. There, I’m afraid, my experience tells me the quickest way would be to redraw a wire on top of them.

My boolean operations fail, or give weird results

The Open CASCADE geometric modeling kernel used in FreeCAD for Part geometry, although probably the best open-source geometry kernel available, has its flaws and limitations. Indeed the boolean operations (fusion, subtraction, intersection) are not its best features, and often give strange results. This is a current limitation we have no way to solve at once, so your best path is to try obtaining the desired result by modeling another way. For example, problems with primitives such as cylinder can often be solved by using an extruded circle instead. Coplanar surfaces between parts can cause trouble, as well as surface tangency.
