Hi I was reading information about EMU interfaces in general — Apparently with Patch mix Application 2.1 and 2.3 BETA driver on Windows 7 x64 this is the only configuration that works apparently.

People usually have the PCI cards or PCI-e cards — It may apply to USB — or maybe not — It’s worth a try — You may need to check the EMU 1616 M downloads page on Creative EMU website and look out for the numbers above

Got it running on my win 10 (64bit) laptop, too, now. But i had to choose the latest ‘regular’ driver. The beta didn’t work well…

The 0404-USB doesn’t have the patchmix application. And it uses a different driver than the pci 0404 (which i guess you’re talking about).

Patchmix is not really necessary there, because 0404 USB doesn’t have any onboard DSP chip like their PCIe cards.
Control of its direct input monitoring is done just via physical controls at the top of interface.
Instead of Patchmix there is small application for EMU 0404 USB, which is part of its driver, where you can set working sample rate (but this can be also set directly from some ASIO application), sync source and SPDIF output format.

Windows 10 Pro x64 1809 here and the 1.40 beta drivers still work fine (including ASIO and the EMU control panel). Have uploaded them to Google Drive as they are hard to find nowadays:

Guys, just registered myself to confirm, that EMU 0404 USB is functioning flawlessly with Win10 x64 1809 (Build 17763.195), also with the brand new motherboard Asrock H370M. Thank you XARC Mastering for sharing of the driver!

It´s still one of the best D/A converters out there, give this a run through Right Mark Audio Analyzer and you´ll see that it competes in the same range as the highend Lynx cards / interfaces in all aspects (SNR, THD, Stereo Separation, etc.). I have the EMU 202. Great sounding converters. I use em for my second non-audio computer to send analog signal to my main sound system from you tube & manuals on the net. Fanciest USB cable I ever seen.

Great The EMU 0202 has other (little worse in specs) converters than the 0404 though (see Right Mark Audio Analyzer tests), it´s still great though

In general everyone take note that we are talking about the USB versions here, the PCIe versions have other converters again and need different drivers too.

Hello. I can also confirm, that EMU 0404 USB is functioning with Win 10 x64 version 1809 (OS Build 17763.316). I use EMUU_PCAppDrv_US_1_40_00_BETA and have very little problems. When it freezes i just turn it off and back on. No USB cable disconnections or Windows restarts. Amazing interface even for 2019!

Created an account to tell you NOT to install beta version 1.4 for windows 10. It blue screen of deathed my computer. However if you install version 1.3 from the creative site it works fine (also update my firmware) https://support.creative.com/Product…U%200404%20USB

Sorry to hear that, but I was running 1.40 on Windows 10 1809/1909 and am running it now again on build 20h1 without any issues.

I have also updated Windows and it still works with 1.40 Beta Driver. It works for Windows version 1903 (Codename 19H1), version 1909 (Codename 19H2) and version 2004 (Codename 20H1). No blue screens for me. It just freezes if I quickly switch between my DAW and foobar, or if I have chrome and a heavy VST running together… I then just turn it off/on and I’m back in business.

Thanks for the info, this thread triggered giving my 0404USB another try in Win10.

Second attempt succeeded (after correcting the install path to the proper non-x86 location),
so audio seems fine now, thanks!

Is the MIDI I/O working for you though? Doesn’t appear here at selectable options inside DAW (Reaper).

I’m having exactly the same conditions etc as the two leftmost screenshots as posted here above by raise0 on March 1st 2019, but with Win10 2004. And using the 1.40 Beta driver kindly provided by XARC Mastering.

My MIDI in/out is working fine. I´ve also installed everything to Program Files (x86) without any issues. Glad it´s working for you!

Thanks, good to hear MIDI I/O could be made working, I’ll give it another try.

The audio part has meanwhile been working for some hours without a single hickup.

BTW, I tried another 0404 USB unit with different firmware-version, which didn’t seem to work so far. The driver/software/applet doesn’t seem to cover firmware updates, so for Win10 usage that might be a dead end street. Also another try here…

Thanks for the info, I then looked for & found that file… and then before actually using it saw that firmware for unit #2 was now also reported like the other one (and as reported here in this thread). So all seems fine, and for some reason MIDI I/O is now also reported in used DAW.
