Windows Precision Touchpad Implementation for Apple MacBook family/Magic Trackpad 2
This project implements Windows Precision Touchpad Protocol for Apple MacBook family/Magic Trackpad 2 on Windows 10. Both USB (traditional and T2), SPI and Bluetooth trackpads are supported.
Donation?
A few people asked me why I removed donation. My current financial situation doesn’t require me to accept donation for the budget of future development. If you are considering donation, please consider other meaningful projects and foundations, such as Electronic Frontier Foundation.
Official Driver?
Bootcamp 6.1.5 offers official driver for T2-based model and Magic Trackpad 2. You can also consider using the official driver if you have such Mac. If you have an older model (e.g. MacBooks before 2018/2019), this is the only implementation for these models (yet).

Converged Installation Guide
IMPORTANT: Given changes in Microsoft driver code signing policy, and the compliance need of EV certificate, CI auto builds beyond 2021/01/06 04:00AM EST will not be automatically signed with normal code signing certificate. These builds are still supposed via TestSigning, but not recommended for normal users. Proper WHQL and EV dual-signed packages will be released manually, which can be downloaded from the release page.
- Make sure you uninstalled
Trackpad++
completely if you have previously does so - Go to the release tab in Github and download the newest version for your architecture
- Right click
AmtPtpDevice.inf
and install it - If you have a Magic Trackpad 2 and want to use it in Bluetooth mode: manaully pair it in PC Settings.
Note: it is unnecessary to enable test signing, or install the certificate manually. Doing so may cause problems in installation. See this issue for detailed explanation.
Also Uninstallation (extremely important for reinstallation Trackpad++
and such)
See also here.
- Go to device manager
- Find the «Apple Precision Touch Device», «Apple Multi-touch Trackpad HID filter» and «Apple Multi-touch Auxiliary Services»
- Right click «remove the device» and also check «uninstall driver»
- Rescan devices
Installation with Chocolatey
The drivers are available as a Chocolatey package. To install using Chocolatey run:
choco install mac-precision-touchpad
For developers
- SPI/T2 version is kernel-mode driver, using KMDF Framework v1.23. Bluetooth driver uses KMDF Framework 1.15. Windows 10 Driver Development Kit Version 2004 or higher is required for development and testing.
- USB version is a user-mode driver, using UMDF Framework v2.15. Windows 10 Driver Development Kit Version 2004 or higher is required for development and testing.
ReleaseSigned
configuration is reserved for production build only, and it will be rendered as unsigned if you attempt to build using that configuration. (Historically it’s signed, but due to EV certificate’s requirements, the process has changed.)

UPDATE 2021/05: She got an M1 Mac now.
People familiar with me know that I don’t use Apple MacBook (so development work of this driver occurs on a Surface Pro 4). People probably think it doesn’t make sense that I started this project. The motivation behind this project origin from complaints from my girlfriend. Hearing about frequent complains about Dell XPS 13’s touchpad (though it passed Precision Touchpad certification), I decided to start this project, so by the time she switches to MacBook Pro, she will have excellent touchpad experience out-of-box, even on Windows. This driver is made for you, but also for everyone.
I would like to thank projects like magictrackpad2-dkms and macbook12-spi-driver that inspire me. I would also like to thank my friends for providing me immense help on devices and testing.

Gestures are not supported on a 2012 MBP. However, Bootcamp Updates (How to use Apple Software Update for Windows — Apple Support) may provide such support (https://www.redmondpie.com/boot-camp-6.1.15-update-adds-precision-gestures-support-for-macbooks-running-windows/).
If you used Bootcamp Assistant -> Action -> Download, then you do have the correct drivers. Check Bootcamp.XML in the package and post the Product Version. Based on Identify your MacBook Air model — Apple Support, your MBA is MacBookAir5,2/5,1.
The Product version I can download is an old version.
<ProductManufacturer>Apple Inc.</ProductManufacturer>
<ProductVersion>4.0.4326</ProductVersion>
<ProductCode>{E8F8AF38-7FFA-407A-8E4B-4722AE20FA30}</ProductCode>
Is this what you get?
This is the driver. Notice the dates….

Bootcamp drivers
HiI’ve read the thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7396261 and have a similar question.
I just reinstalled W7 on my 2008 Mac Pro (3,1 I think) and while I could never get my wireless keyboard and Trackpad to work with the Bootcamp drivers, they are now working without them, even worked fine in the Windows Installer !!! The only difference I can think of is that I installed Windows professional instead of Ultimate.
So now I am wondering, if I install Bootcamp drivers, will I lose my wireless keyboard and Trackpad ? Is there any reason to risk it ?
Thanks !

Magic Mouse 2 scroll gesture on Boot Camp Windows 10 pro
I just got my magic mouse 2 today and wanted to use it in windows as well, after testing it and installing the bootcamp drivers from here: https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1837?locale=en_US it still isn’t working. My device is a Macbook Air 2017, running Windows 10pro
I read on another post here that these drivers support Windows 8.1 and I tried running the driver installers as administrator, in compatibility mode for win8.1What am I missing? Is there another solution to this?

Download latest Windows support software
Is there a way to manually download the latest boot camp drivers from Apple? I installed Windows 10 via Boot Camp this week, but after installing parallels, my keyboard backlight doesn’t work. When I open Boot Camp Assistant, the only option it gives me is to restore the Mac to a single Volume.
Thanks in advance.

Windows drivers for the trackpad of a macbook 2012
This archive contains the Windows drivers for the following Apple devices:
- Apple Magic Keyboard (wired and wireless gen 1 & 2)
- Apple Magic Mouse (gen 1 & 2)
- Apple Magic Trackpad (gen 1 & 2)
In order to install the one you need just extract the archive, enter into the folder of the device you need, right click on the INF file and click on the Install entry. After that your device will be fully working, in the case of the mouse you will notice that right click and scrolling will start to work.
As an additional note, you might want to change the scrolling direction after install, in this case you will need to make some changes in the Windows registry. The steps are:
- Go to the device manager (right click on the Windows menu icon and choose it).
- Expand the Mouse section and double click on the newly installed device (might be shown as HID compatible mouse or something like that).
- Go to the details tab and select the device instance path property. Please note the value and keep it available; you can copy it to a notepad for that.
- Open the Windows registry editor (press Win+R, type regedit and press Enter).
- Go to the next route:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum
- In there, follow the route defined by the instance path value. In my case was
HID\{00001124-0000-1000-8000-00805F9B34FB}_VID&0001004C_PID&0269\8&3AC3F21&0&0000
for the Magic Mouse 2.
- Go to the Device Parameters subkey, change the FlipFlopHScroll and FlipFlopWheel values to 1 (double click on each to open the change value modal window).
- Close the registry editor and restart the computer.
- After Windows starts, the scroll will be as in MacOS natural configuration.
I extracted this files from my bootcamp installation, I hope they work for you.

Trackpad++ is the first of its kind driver and it is the sole alternative for using Apple’s Multitouch Trackpad with Microsoft Windows installed on your MacBook Pro or MacBook Air devices.
This driver enables the use of a trackpad in Windows if you decide to switch to Microsoft’s operating system on your MacBook notebook.
What are some of the features and benefits of the Trackpad++ driver?
It greatly expands multi-touch functionality and allows for two, three, and four-finger gestures, including tab, back or forward, zoom in and out, show and hide windows, and even the newly implemented Windows 10 gestures.
Two-finger scrolling capability has been significantly optimized, and it resembles the Mac OS scrolling model, which allows for accelerated or natural touch options.
So-called pointer ballistics are enhanced as well. Trackpad++ allows for two-finger dragging without any bugs or errors and provides the possibility to increase the pointer speed while dragging.
Users can fine-tune options for ignoring any accidental trackpad input during typing sessions and removing accidental drag & drop actions (when you’re dragging tap-style). It also comes with a built-in Control Module, where you can conveniently adjust all of the program’s settings.
Trackpad++ has complete native support for all the latest versions of Windows, including 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10.
