Clock windows phone 8

One of the neat benefits of Windows Phone 8.1 are Tiles that can update every minute, instead of the previous 30 minutes in 8.0. Don’t worry, it won’t drain your battery either. That loosening of restrictions has allowed for the release of such apps as Clock Hub and TimeMe. Now, we have a charming analog clock to add to the mix.

Analog Clock Tile is a simple app. You download it and pin to your Start screen; that’s it. Currently, only small and medium Tiles are supported, though wide Tile support is coming. What’s more, Web-ideja d.o.o., who is behind the app, wants to hear from you on suggestions. Knowing you folks, you’ll have a dozen or so to volunteer, so get at it!

Sure, clocks are redundant on Windows Phone with Glance, Lock screen and one in the system bar. But we’re not here to preach and tell you how to design your Start layout, that’s what makes Windows Phone personal. Heck, I happen to like these apps because on a Lumia 1520 you sometimes need something to offset your design choices, and these things work well for that purpose.

And yes, Analog Clock Tile is a universal app, so expect a Windows 8.1 version sometime soon, as well.

Pick up Analog Clock Tile here in the Store for free. Windows Phone 8.1 only.

Read more at the developer’s blog about the release here.

A developer named «Arnold Vink» has created an app named «TimeMe» (Free)
(Store 30 min/update version URL: http://www.windowsphone.com/sv-se/store/app/timeme/ef6099f2-41dd-4bad-9fa1-8f4143386194 )
It acts and looks like the clock app for HTC 8X/S/XT with weather and battery status.

Download 1 min sideload version:
http://projects.arnoldvink.com/
Direct link to xap:
XAP FILE (latest version)
So all developers, go grab the TimeMe.xap from his page and try it out! ¨

| Installation Instructions
1) Install the TimeMe application on your Windows Phone from the store/website.
2) Launch TimeMe once to enable the background live tile update task.
3) Pin the live tile inside the app and set the live tile to the used size.
* It might take up to ~40 minutes before the first live tile time update. 1 minute on sideload version.

Also, in settings uncheck «Display text in English language» if you want the system language on the tile

Latest version has different fonts, you can put a background image/bing everyday image on the clock tile.
Choose between: Segoe WP Light, Gothic720 Light, Helvetica Neue Ultra Light, Existence Light, Bellota Light & Rawengulk Light.
Now the app does not drain as much battery as it did before, lots of battery life improvement!
Also it’s now very customizable!

Did you download the .xap from his webpage?
Because the one on the Windows Phone Store only has the normal background agent like all other tiles from store with update every 30 minutes or so.
If you have any questions about the xap I suggest you posting it here: http://forums.arnoldvink.com/

Hehe, you have to read, read and one more read. In the first post:

The only bad thing is that the one on Store doesn’t update every minute sadly, so he put a .xap on his webpage that does update every minute.

Nice app find! Thanks…and thanks to the developer too. Now to find out how much battery life this 1 minute update schedule takes…..

  • #9

Thanks! A great app, indeed! Tested on Lumia 620 but the sad news is i dont have a developer account so the charm to have a live tiltle gone…

  • #10

hello all,
i download the one minute-xap from the autor’s site
but i can’t install it:

someone had same problem?

I found why,
because the archive is corrupted

This is a nice app, but I’d like to customize it with different fonts and for it to have a wide tile or two normal tiles — a clock app that works like [APP] Tile Clock. I had modified that one, but the background task is fried (Its from wp7.5 and the 7.8/8 version is only in 24hours)

I just found that Arnold Vink (the author of this app) has created a MiniSDK for just deploying xaps. Find it over in his forums at http://forums.arnoldvink.com

Just got to say this app is great!
Since this doesn’t have to ping a server every minute it shouldn’t affect battery life too much.

  • #16

This is great, been wanting a tile like this for a long time, working well on my Lumia 920.
Thanks for the info!

You’ll need the version for 7.8, but it will only display in 24hour format.

Windows Phone 8 will come with a brand new Start Screen allowing for smaller tiles icons and getting rid of that big black strip on the side, but this new design also gets rid of the clock on the side which you could easily see in earlier Windows Phone versions. Sure, you probably want to have a bigger clock tile on your start screen, but it’s just a little inconsistency with the previous look.

Also, currently, it seems that the engineers over at Redmond haven’t exactly figured out how to deal with the new tile arrangement, and the tile in the upper right corner eclipses the system clock. Only a part of it is actually visible right now.

We expect that Microsoft will either completely get rid of the clock or somehow find a way to fit it in there or some place else, it’s just the current situation that underscores the fact that the platform is still in development.

We actually like the new Start Screen much more as that empty strip of black just seemed like a waste of space, but we’re sure some folks will miss the very visual cue it gave to accessing the menus, so keeping user awareness about the existence of those settings is another design challenge for Microsoft.

Windows Phone 8 redesign to force Microsoft to move the system clock?
