we find in every of our computers (windows7 64bit)
in cbs.log following lines concerning SQM:
CBS SQM: Initializing online with Windows opt-in: False
CBS SQM: Cleaning up report files older than 10 days.
CBS SQM: Requesting upload of all unsent reports.
CBS SQM: Failed to start upload with file pattern: C:\Windows\servicing\sqm\*_std.sqm, flags: 0x2 [HRESULT = 0x80004005 — E_FAIL]
CBS SQM: Failed to start standard sample upload. [HRESULT = 0x80004005 — E_FAIL]
CBS SQM: Queued 0 file(s) for upload with pattern: C:\Windows\servicing\sqm\*_all.sqm, flags: 0x6
CBS SQM: Warning: Failed to upload all unsent reports. [HRESULT = 0x80004005 — E_FAIL]
we would be very glad if someone could bring some more light into this issue.

That’s normal as it’s present in every log and nothing to be worried about as long as SURT and SFC are clean and Windows Updates are working.

nice to hear from you again.
I have no errors in SFC and Windows Update is working.
BTW I cannot find any SURT file in CBS folder.

Hello, I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits and for a long time now I can’t update it, I have tried different methods and I can’t get it to update, the error codes that appear are the following:
800B0109
8007064A
9C48And they refer to trying to install certain updates that are never installed and the same result is always recurring. Additionally, I have detected that in the installed updates, none of Microsoft Windows appears, just as if I try to activate or deactivate windows features, it appears blank.
in the CBS.log file I get:
CBS SQM: Failed to start upload with file pattern: C:\Windows\servicing\sqm\*_std.sqm, flags: 0x2 [HRESULT = 0x80004005 – E_FAIL]
And if I go to the folder C:\Windows\servicing\SQM
it is blank.

Did you notice windows 7 is EOS/L for almost over 2 years now (i don’t see it mentioned)? Only by using the ESU Bypass tool you can still get updates on WU/manually installed, is it in use?.

you’re also right, because i’ve seen modern m$ updates (e.g. m$ edge being installed)
i was assuming the official eol date
why did m$ release those january 2021 updates anyway?
this means i wonder, if the businesses with genuine/real esu (no bypass, true license) were issued those weird updates

I don’t have an ESU license and haven’t used any tools to bypass the ESU license, I’ll try that.

Could always use Simplix Pack instead as it’s much more reliable than WU.

Ошибка 0x80004005 — E_FAIL при установки WIN7 SP1 x64
Не как SP1 не хочет устанавливаться. Если подробно: Обновление SP1 устанавливается через Wsus в центре обновления windows, как обычно просит перезагрузку, делаю ее. После перезагрузки доходит до 30%,снова перезагрузка, далее доходит до 100% и пишит об отмене выполненых операций. После чего при загрузки винды выдает «Ошибка 0x80004005 — E_FAIL» .
1.Обновление Net.Framework до 4.0 с удаление через утилиту dotnetfx_cleanup_tool Net FrameWork 3.5 SP1
2 sfc.exe /scannow
3 Отключение антивируса.
4 Установка KB947821 для подготовки к WIN7 SP1
5 Проверка служб BITS и журнала событий Windows (Службы прекрасно запускаются и перезапускаются)
Что делать я уже не знаю,систему не охото переустанавливать. Вот часть лога CBS.log

Trying to install windows security patch on windows server 2012 R2. Installation is getting successful however after restart of server it getting failed with below error message
Windows update changes undoing . Please find below CBS logs

Open CMD, type “sfc /scannow” to check/repair system files.
If there is no error returns, please re-start system in Clean Boot(with 3rd party process disable), and try to manually install the update again to check the result:
1. Delete existing log files, or, move it to another location. In order to collect clear log files about update failure:
%systemroot%\logs\cbs – CBS.log
%systemroot%\ — WindowsUpdate.log
3. Manually download and install the KB on your system – Windows Update Catalog:
https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Home.aspx
If problem persists, please provide below log files:
1. %systemroot%\logs\cbs – CBS.log.
2. %systemroot%\ — WindowsUpdate.log.
3. Specific update number which failed to be installed.
4. Run “winver” and provide detail OS version and build.

Thanks for your revert.
I tried to install patches after renaming cbs,windowsupdate logs and
Catroot and softwaredistribution folder. Still patches installation getting failed.
Post reboot windows patch undoing error.
Will upload the logs by tomorrow evening

Сообщение от www3110 Вроде тут эту проблему решили, но я разобраться не могу. Помогите кто-то переводом там не ваш случай, там проблема с драйвером C:\Windows\WinSxS\amd64_usbvideo.inf_31b f3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16543_none_8a1a25 13d42628c3\usbvideo.inf вот еще что советуют: Как Вы указали, используете Wsus, могу предположить что компьютер находится в домене. Для начала рекомендую вывести компьютер из домена и повторить установку под учетной записью локального администратора, загрузив при этом отдельный пакет установки(windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe). Также некоторые антивирусы после их отключения все равно продолжают блокировать некоторые действия в операционной системе. Попробуйте удалить антивирус и повторить установку. И еще вариант, попробуйте установить права на папку C:\Windows\servicing\sqm Добавлено через 29 минут 2011-07-04 10:03:52, Info CBS Failed to internally open package.
