Имя папки LCU обозначает Last Cumulative Update.
(Properties).
Кликните на кнопку Clean up system files.
dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

I agree with @misvin. In this discussion, we should solve only the problems of the TC, and not give any recommendations on how to do it better or not to do it with third-party programs, especially from M$. There is a file system, there are objects in it, there is a user’s desire to delete/move/copy them. The TC must either do this, or provide an EXHAUSTIVE explanation of why it cannot do this. And now we see a mixture of actions and inaction(and maybe even bugs?) on the TC’s part. And at the same time, there is no clear explanation for this on its part.
For a long time now, I have noticed that the TC does not even try to improve its behavior when encountering an error copying/moving/deleting a file/directory. It is always necessary to install / run third-party applications that provide more comprehensive information about whether this element of the file system is blocked, by what process, when, etc … Is it possible to delete this file, remove the process lock on this element. But in theory, ALL of these actions should be provided by the TC-as a full-fledged file manager!!! But no, the maximum that I will see is texts like «the file is blocked», «it is impossible to perform the operation»….
It is too brief, not clear, and there is no toolkit that could help me solve this problem anyway.

Just a quick question. This folder on my computer is almost 4 gb big and contains over 100k folders. Can I delete these folders? I think it pertains to Windows updates. Thanks.

These folders are unnecessary if the updated system works well. But, the user will not be able to roll back some Windows Updates.
These rollback folders can be cleaned by using Windows built-in cleanup application (cleanmgr.exe and use <Clean up system files>).
Edit.
On my computer, the cleanmgr deleted all rollbacks except the last one.

Thanks Andy, worked for me too.
I regularly use disc cleanup after a Windows update, I just find it incredulous that Windows creates this many files for every update. I’ve never looked in that folder before.

What is LCU / SSU
As described in the recent 2 update histories, Microsoft Team can you please elaborate what is SSU and LCU? (Guess: SSU is Servicing Stack Update)
I cannot find a reference for this. Thank you in advance
Important When installing both the SSU (KB4093432) and the LCU updates from the Microsoft Update Catalog,
install the SSU before installing the LCU.source: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4093107

What is LCU / SSU
Oh thanks, is it possible not to use these abbreviations on the website?
Another question in this regard. It states that you have to install the SSU before the LCU, but does the LCU include this SSU, and for the next months will this SSU be valid to install before the next LCU because I have missed it in March or April?

Took ownership of the package.
There is an easier solution that, now we have just had another CU, I’ve been able to test.
The trick is, before the next CU, to change the permissions of the LCU folder itself and give Administrators Full control (by default they only have read/execute/list).
From then on you no longer need to take ownership of each new package, they inherit permission from the LCU folder so can be deleted with your existing admin permissions.

System / Storage / Temporary files / Remove files (disk cleanup) doesn’t work for you?
That will remove all but the latest CU package. Some of us like to keep or systems even smaller to save on system image space and time, so delete the latest one manually. The longer a Windows version has been around, the larger its CUs will be. In W10 a single CU package is now about 1GB.

That will remove all but the latest CU package. Some of us like to keep or systems even smaller, so delete the latest on manually. The longer a Windows version has been around, the larger its CUs will be. In W10 a single CU is now about 1GB.

LCU folder keeps only the latest CU. I tried to clean it twice. I always ended up with broken windows updates.
TairikuOkami posted above, that it can affect Windows update…
I routinely delete the latest CU package from LCU on all my half dozen or so machines. Been doing that for more than a year now without any problems. The only downside of deleting the latest one is that you can no longer uninstall it in Control Panel.

Do you delete all CU’s backups? There are usually ~3 copies in those locations as well:%WINDIR%\Installer\$PatchCache$ %WINDIR%\SoftwareDistribution\Download %WINDIR%\WinSxS\Backup
No, just the copy in the LCU folder, that’s the only one that I know to be safe to delete.
That’s entirely up to you. As I said, with 6+ machines to image, and keeping at least two previous system images, an extra GB in each image soon adds up to a lot to be stored on my external backup drive. W10 CUs are now at least 1GB, W11 are smaller at present, but will only get larger (they are called ‘cumulative’ for a reason). I need all the help I can get to fit all my machine images onto one drive
