Почему появляется файл bootTel.dat и можно ли его удалить
Файл bootTel.dat обычно создается системной утилитой autochk.exe — отдельным вариантом утилиты chkdsk для проверки диска на наличие ошибок файловой системы.
Autochk.exe может запускаться автоматически после перезагрузки или при включении компьютера и до загрузки Windows 11/10 в случае, если:
- Вы пробовали запустить chkdsk для системного раздела диска, находясь в системе.
- При невозможности утилиты chkdsk получить доступ к разделу.
- Если том имеет пометку «Грязный бит» (обозначающую необходимость проверить диск при перезагрузке).
Файл содержит двоичные данные и четкого назначения данных в доступных источниках я не нашел: есть предположение, что данные записываются на диск для последующих отправки службами телеметрии (в момент проверки диска сделать это нельзя, так как ОС и службы еще не запущены).
Удаление файла полностью безопасно, но требует обязательного наличия прав администратора на компьютере: каких-либо проблем или сбоев при загрузке компьютера (кроме тех, которые, возможно, уже были) не случится.
По некоторым сообщениям файл также может создаваться при использовании обычной утилиты chkdsk в среде восстановления и некоторых других сценариях, а также сторонними программами, которые инициируют проверку файловой системы диска с помощью встроенных инструментов Windows.
Системный диск содержит больше каталогов и файлов, чем по умолчанию показывает Windows, и чтобы их увидеть, нужно включить в свойствах папок показ скрытых объектов. Так вот, среди последних вы можете обнаружить такие файлы и папки, которые не входят в список типичного содержимого корня системного раздела. Например, бинарный файл bootTel.dat, который начинающим пользователям может показаться подозрительным.
В действительности никакого отношения к вирусной активности файл bootTel.dat не имеет и создается он штатной консольной утилитой autochk.exe, служащей для проверки жесткого диска на предмет наличия ошибок файловой системы. Эта утилита обычно запускается после присвоения системному разделу метки «dirty bit» (грязный бит), означающей, что диск должен быть проверен после перезагрузки или следующего включения компьютера.
Также autochk.exe может автоматически запуститься при попытке пользователя выполнить проверку диска C средствами chkdsk в работающей системе, в среде восстановления либо же невозможности получения chkdsk доступа к проверяемому разделу. Судя по названию, файл bootTel.dat содержит данные телеметрии, а также, возможно, отчетность о выполненном сканировании диска.
Можно ли удалить bootTel.dat
Да, файл bootTel.dat можно удалить без каких-либо нежелательных последствий для системы, но так как он находится на системном диске, для этого вам могут понадобиться права администратора. Не более.

When is the boottel.dat created under Windows 10?
If Windows detects a problem during the boot process, this is usually due to faulty files or system partitions. Usually Windows will automatically start a repair program during the boot process.
This file system check checks the hard disk, especially the Windows startup files for corrupt files. As a result of this check a file is stored in the Windows root directory. The boottel.dat.
As a user, however, you can’t do much with this file, since it is binary in nature.
Can I delete the boottel.dat without hesitation?
Tests have shown that renaming or deleting the boottel.dat is no problem and can be done easily. If you are unsure whether Windows has problems with this, you can simply rename the file in the first step and then delete it completely from the root directory in the second step.

Windows warned that I had some issues with one of my SSDs. It arranged things so that on a reboot it would repair the file system on the drive. This got done and thereafter Windows reported the drive as fine. When I looked, each of the partitions had a bootTel.dat file in the root directory of the partition. I didn’t and don’t know if these files had to be preserved or if they were safe to delete.
Enter FFS and doing some backups using ‘Mirror’ sync type. FFS deleted all the bootTel.dat files — boom! Gone! Is this okay? Does anyone know if these files should have been preserved?

Thanks for responding. I had already read the link you point to. However, it (and other sources I found) don’t say if the bootTel.dat file has to be kept on the system. None of what I have read states if it is safe to delete those files. Should say the drive seems to be operating fine even with the files deleted but I’m wondering if anyone knows the definitive answer to my question — can’t find the information anywhere.

I’m always deleting all files in C:\, except for swapfile.sys, and pagefile.sys. Never had any issues. Also, regularly deleting the (mostly empty) temp folders created by Windows updates.

Okay Zenju I’ll assume the files were okay to delete.
However, I won’t go so far as to delete all files in C:\ except for swapfile.sys, and pagefile.sys. as I arrange things so that Windows is installed to a single partition — no Windows hidden partitions on my system (which is how I want it to be). This means I have a non-standard setup and some boot related files in C:\ that I suspect would be a disaster to delete.

I don’t know if will help, but I noticed in a thread someone (@chefsuccess.com) mentioned, that, you need to use the restore to import the file.
I don’t use the software, so, I have no idea on the steps/procedure.
