I have an issue with Windows 10 Bootcamp, I restarted my windows, and when I try to log in.
I can’t type anything, so I’m stuck on the login page.
But the touchpad, brightness control key(I’m using MacBook air, the brightness control key is F1 and F2), and the volume control (F10, F11, F12) are still working.
But others key isn’t working as well. Can someone please help me?
MacBook Air 13″,
macOS 11.1

The Bootcamp drivers are incorrectly installed. This is causing your internal keyboard issue.
- Windows logo key + E — Open File Explorer.
- Ctrl + Shift + click a taskbar button — Open an app as an administrator. This ‘app’ is the setup.exe in your USB Bootcamp folder.
See https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/keyboard-shortcuts-in-windows-dcc61a57-8ff0-cffe-9796-cb9706c75eec for reference.
The driver situation with Apple Bluetooth wireless keyboards and Windows 10 is horrible, even with the latest BootCamp drivers. Fortunately, a workaround is available, if you’re patient.
Pair keyboard once
- Turn on the keyboard.
- Press and hold
Command + w
until the keyboard light begins blinking, indicating the keyboard is ready to pair. - Use Windows Bluetooth settings to pair the keyboard, entering the same code (e.g.
123456 Enter
) on both internal and external keyboards.
Pairing the keyboard is very trial and error. 9/10 times, Windows will complain that the keyboard is not available for pairing. Just keep trying.
Finally, once the keyboard does pair, Windows will complain with a status Driver error
.
Uninstall Apple keyboard driver
- Launch
Device Manager
, such as from the Start menu. - Identify the offending device, marked by a yellow warning triangle.
- Remove the device and uninstall the driver.
- Reboot.
Pair keyboard again
Unpair and re-pair the keyboard, will probably take 20 more attempts.
Verify keyboard connectivity
Once the keyboard has paired, after uninstalling the keyboard driver, you can check whether the keyboard is finally fully connected, by pressing the Command (Start) button, etc.

I have a new 2017 21” iMac which I was able to install a Bootcamp Windows 10 on. The only issue is that I cannot get Windows to pair the new (full)wireless keyboard or Magic Mouse. Anyone else have this issue and figured out how to fix it?

I’ve found, for whatever reason — probably lousy driver support, Installing new Magic devices to be a lousy experience. I’m assuming you’ve installed the BootCamp Support drivers. Yeah, whereas older Apple Bluetooth Keyboards and mice are flawless in installation — apple hasn’t done the best job with the Magic devices.
Try restarting, connect both via lightning to the Mac, and reinstall Apple’s Boot Camp support files. That worked for me.

The support for Apple’s bluetooth peripherals was broken in a recent Windows 10 update. Basically you need to keep the keyboard connected by wire, and get a different mouse. I recommend Logitech MX Master 2S, which is much better than the Magic Mouse anyway. Windows 10 force updates new patches, so if you reinstall the Bootcamp drivers, then Windows will probably only reinstall the same update again afterwards.

Still doesn’t work properly. Apple keyboard has to be disconnected in OSX first every time, otherwise it won’t work via Bluetooth in Bootcamp.
EDIT: You also have to disconnect and reconnect the Apple keyboard in Bootcamp afterwards. All this evertime you start Windows. Not worth the hassle. Better wait for proper bug fix from Apple and/or Microsoft.

Thanks, I’ll have to try this. Is there any way to get scrolling working with Windows 10 and Magic Mouse?

Don’t know, never owned a Magic Mouse.
PS: Also, I see one has to reconnect the Apple keyboard every time you start Windows/Bootcamp. Hopefully we’ll see a proper fix soon.

I had the same issue, magic mouse said it was paired but the cursor wouldn’t move.
I opted in to the windows insider program via windows update and installed the 1803 preview update & this fixed the problem for me.

It didn’t for me. I had the keyboard working fine, just the mouse wouldn’t work. After your 1803 update neither works now. In the process of going back. At this point it looks like what works for one don’t always work for all. Hopefully the powers to be at Apple will fix this.

At least my old Apple bluetooth keyboard works fine. Fortunately I didn’t give it away, when I sold my old late 2012 iMac.

Fixed it for me as well. No problems for a few days now.

Went back and deleted the 1803 and I at least have my keyboard back. I can live with the usb wireless mouse if I have too.

Windows.
I faced a strange issue a few days back. My bootcamp windows installation stopped working and rebooted with autorepair but with no keyboard input working. I tried internal macbook pro keyboard and external usb kyboard, nothing, looks like usb ports are not accessible for the windows system at all.
I’ve tried to create a new windows install usb stick through bootcamp assistant and repair the system from the usb stick. But when I booted with the installer, there was no keyboard access as well.
I have an assumption that apple has made some firmware update and it caused problems with devices drivers.
I found a similar topic on reddit but no posts in apple community though. So I created a new one and it was deleted because I’m using beta. But before it was deleted, there were about 3 posts from other users already, who reported similar issues with Catalina. So I have an assumption, that this is not only the beta related issue.
I have:
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)
With macOS Big Sur 11.0.1 Beta (20B5012d) installed
Hi,
Code Block I have the same problem. I have the same configuration in hardware and software that you. I think that is a firmware problem becase my problem started when I change the SSD disk for a new one for test and install the new macOS Big Sur 11.0.1 Beta, then when I return to my old SSD disk with my bootcamp windows the Window not reconize the mouse and keyboard internal or external.
Looks like the issue was solved once I’ve updated on to the latest release candidate: 11.0.1 Beta (20B5022a)
