About Blackmagic RAW Speed Test App
Blackmagic RAW Speed Test is a CPU and GPU benchmarking tool that you can use to test the speed of decoding full resolution Blackmagic RAW frames on your system. Multiple CPU cores and GPUs are automatically detected and used during the test so that you get accurate and realistic results. Simply select Blackmagic RAW constant bitrate 3:1, 5:1, 8:1 or 12:1 and the desired resolution to perform the test. Although Blackmagic RAW Speed Test will run multiple resolution and frame rate tests on your system, you can also select a specific test resolution to run on the main meters and the test will continue to run constantly, allowing stress testing of host computers.
Free Developer SDK
The .braw SDK is fully documented and publicly available for all developers on Mac OS, Windows and Linux. Using the SDK gives you access to GPU accelerated and CPU optimized algorithms for decoding Blackmagic RAW files. In addition to the encoded image data, the SDK also provides access to unique information about the camera’s imaging sensor so you know how to accurately decode and present the image based on the characteristics of the sensor. The SDK supports 32‑bit float, 16‑bit integer and 8‑bit integer pixel formats, manages the decoding of color science, allows for user customizable color space transformation, and provides access to all embedded and sidecar metadata.

Why you should use our installer for BRAW Player
Blackmagic Design official support website can be hard to navigate to to get
their BRAW Player. On top of that it will also install their PrPro plugin that
will replace BRAW Studio (our BRAW importer, color grader and panel for Premiere
Pro and After Effects), which will lead to conflicts in Premiere Pro if you
already have BRAW Studio installed. That is why we created this page here to
help you install their BRAW Player in a few clicks. Here are the links to our

Once the .zip has been downloaded, extract it and run the .exe (Windows) or .pkg
(macOS) that is inside and follow instructions. Do not forget this will
uninstall BMD PrPro plugins, so if you already have them installed, you cannot
use our installers.

just go in the Toolbox tab and click «Get BRAW Player and Thumbnails». The same
steps should be followed afterwards !

I was surprised to see that Blackmagic Design finally released the Windows version of the Blackmagic Raw (BRAW) player. Currently this is version 1.4, the player is pretty primitive and lacks a lot of features. Version 1.4 has the ability to play braw files start, stop, loop and view previously viewed files. Would like to see the ability to look at metadata and add a lut to the viewer. I think this version can only view sidecar info and add luts that way. I haven’t had a lot of time with the player but it seems like it’s taking over my graphics card and not allowing other applications to have access to the card at the same time, it’s kind of weird.
