Get iFilters for Document Locator

The Windows operating system comes pre-configured with several standard iFilters (indexing filters). These iFilters offer fast full-text searching on Microsoft Office files, text documents, HTML files, and others.

To get the full power and capability of search, install any or all of the additional iFilters listed below. These iFilters allow Document Locator to index and full-text search image files, CAD files, PDF files, and more. Some of the filters are free downloads. Others are offered from third-party developers and require either registration or licensing. Each link below takes you to the download site where installation instructions are provided.

• iFilters are third-party components not developed by ColumbiaSoft.
• All iFilters are to be installed on the SQL Server machine.

Office iFilter and Office Filter SP2

This download will install and register IFilters with the Windows Indexing Service. These IFilters are used by Microsoft Search products to index the contents of specific document formats. This Filter Pack includes IFilters for the following formats: .docx, .docm, .pptx, .pptm, .xlsx, .xlsm, .xlsb, .zip, .one, .vdx, .vsd, .vss, .vst, .vdx, .vsx, and .vtx.

Windows PDF iFilter

Microsoft PDF Filter is natively installed with Windows Server 2016 and 2019.

Adobe PDF iFilter 11 for 64-bit platforms

Adobe is releasing Adobe PDF iFilter 11 for 64-bit platforms, which will allow searching PDF files on Microsoft® Windows® 64-bit platforms for applications such as Microsoft Office SharePoint, Microsoft Exchange, and Microsoft SQL. TIFF iFilter

Available only with Window 2008 R2.

DWG iFilter version 4.0

DWG IFilter is a plug-in that allows Microsoft Search products and services to index DWG files, enabling customers to search and organize their content. There is a cost for the Server Version of this Ifilter, but you can download a 30-day trial. It works with SQL, 2008-to 2017.

Corel WordPerfect

The IFilter is a filter used by the Microsoft Index Server, which is a content-indexing program. The Microsoft Index Server indexes the documents on a server based on the keywords they contain. These indices are used to return your search queries. When you search for a particular string or phrase, the Index Server returns all the documents that contain the string or phrase. WordPerfect iFilter lets you publish your WordPerfect documents on the Internet or intranet. You can search these documents the same way you search an HTML document, without having to convert your WordPerfect documents to HTML.

Adobe PDF iFilter for 32-bit platforms

Adobe currently bundles a 32-bit PDF iFilter with Adobe Acrobat® 9 as well as free Adobe Reader® 9 software. It uses the Microsoft iFilter interface and allows third-party indexing tools to extract text from Adobe PDF files.

Adobe PDF iFilter 11 for 64-bit platforms has been tested with following operating systems and applications.

Desktop environment

1. Download the installer contents to your local drive.

2. Double click [PDFFilter64Setup].msi to launch the installer.

3. Follow the instructions in the installer wizard to complete the installation.

After installing the PDF iFilter, it is recommended that you set your system PATH environment variable to the «bin» folder of the «Ifilter» installation. For complete configuration details, see the Administration Guide.
