Hi,

I have done so several times now.

The last time though and this one I had problems.

Previous time I tried to recover from usb stick (I prepared one immediately after opening the package of newly obtained netbook) and when I had to choose language for to see the recovery instructions it would not proceed further.

I left the netbook aside and had to pursue other emergencies.

After a couple of months I tried again and it recovered alright, was surfing and everything was OK.

Today while I was surfing, the android would not open.

This is a very common procedure to loose the android when surfing and recovering it through windows, then again use it alright.

This time when I tried to do so, all the system collapsed.

I open the netbook and see:

I shut down, open again pressing Alt and F10 and see same as above.

I insert recovery usb stick when netbook is shut down and re-open pressing F12, I choose the usb option and it enters the recovery management.

I see the language option, I choose english, it says continue I press it, it asks Is English your selection of UI language, I say OK, (this far is where it went prtevious time) and it gives the four options (factory defaults, retain user data, completely restore computer to factory defaults -that is erasing hidden partition and not being able to restore any more from hard disk- and exit), only that the last one is the functioning link -that is exit- and all others cannot be clicked.

Luckily I had prepared a second usb recovery stick.

I insert this one when netbook is shut down, re-open with F12, and when seeing the 4 options I can choose also the other 2. (factory settings and factory settings completely)
I press factory settings (the first one) as I never used up to now the erasing hidden partition option.
It says 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. instructions (this option is required if a virus infected etc etc, plug in your AC cord etc etc) and when I press Next it takes quite a time to react and then it says:
Hard Drive Name: WDC etc etc ATA Device
Parition Label: (blank)
Parition Size: GB (just that)
I press next and it says this action will erase etc etc and it shows start of operation but then it says «There is insufficient space on the disk for the temporary files required for the operation». This is the first time ever I see it.
If I press OK it starts all over again same show infinitely.

That is, I cannot recover through hard disk neither through usb stick.
I tried the drivers and applications usb recovery stick it just leads to above text (Intel etc etc).
I believe I can try the last resort to completely erase the hidden partition but I do not wish to do so.

I believe that all failures of android and of windows so far in my netbook are due to some hacking attacks.

Можно выбрать параметр «Восстановить операционную систему и сохранить пользовательские данные». Но нужно знать, что при таком восстановлении данные сохранятся не все, к тому же вирусы и глюки программного обеспечения, собственно из-за которых большая часть пользователей и затевает откат к заводским настройкам, останутся. Поэтому копируйте все нужные вам файлы на флешку или переносной жёсткий диск USB и выбирайте «Восстановление заводских настроек операционной системы». Будут выполнены перезагрузка и восстановление системы.

Если ваша операционная система совсем не загружается, то можно войти БИОС (жмём при загрузке Delete), переходим на вкладку Main, видим параметр D2D Recovery. Он отвечает за включение и отключение функции восстановления заводских настроек ноутбука Acer. Включаем эту опцию, то есть ставим в положение Enabled,

Unless you know the previous owner personally and they can vouch for the install being recoverable, erase the machine and start over since that’s the only way to be sure. As an example, I may trust the girl I’ve known for years to care for her old computer but I sure as he double hockey sticks do not trust the old install of Windows and would erase it and reinstall once I got the machine on the bench. You just do not know unless the previous owners can confidently say THEY erased it, and they didn’t infect it with semi persistent malware that survives the Microsoft reset process! Even if they were careful, better to start from ground zero just to be sure you will not run into an issue.

It’s better to secure erase the drives if possible (if not, just overwrite the partition table but a lot of the modern BIOSes include a option to secure erase now) and install Windows yourself to be safe (UNLESS the seller already did it and left it at the Microsoft OOBE). That said, you usually need to make your own media for Win10 since a lot of OEMs stopped bothering when Microsoft built it in and got it right after Win8 (Win8 machines usually shipped with both), or moved to a program that makes a bootable recovery USB). Some sellers opt to not include a hard drive since they’re so cheap anyone who doesn’t mind a good discount and can install one will probably overlook it.

For sale purposes, it’s usually nuke and sell it without an OS (but mention it is Win10 Home/Pro ready), or if you want something there to get more potential buyers, get it to the OOBE and leave it at that. The ONLY TIME I’d ever setup a system is if say, I am selling old hardware to a friend who knows me — you can’t trust random people on Craigslist with that level of trust! If I am selling to a stranger, I’d rather use NTLite on an Win10 ISO and write it to a 16GB USB drive using the .inf files*, get it to the OOBE and let them finish.

*I would leave off certain SW like the EOL Dell software due to a known high risk security hole, and just install the base system drivers.
