User Reviews

  • Conflict with the battery indicator

    raymondhudson

    Pros
unknown due to it interfered with battery indicator

    Cons
battery indicator, warns of low battery after installed. Note: battery is at 100% and is not in use! I uninstalled at that point!

    Summary
There are bugs with this software, but what confuses me even more is the fact that it is for Acer Aspire, and that is what I have.

Updated on Apr 29, 2013
For use ONLY with Acer Aspire One Note Book, this is not explained at CNET download ?

  • Avoid downloading, corrupts battery ACPI

    georgeKZ1262

    Pros
None really, it is simple, but doesn’t work.

    Cons
Corrupts battery ACPI (need to re-install)

Temperature reading seems unreliable (jumping from 50 to 100 to 7c)

Adjusting the settings to, even to their most extreme, I didn’t notice any effect.

    Summary
Not only does it not work, it will cause problems- so avoid downloading this.

When it is on battery life jumps to 100%, then as soon as you unplug the computer shuts down with ‘no battery remaining’. After uninstalling I get a «no battery is detected» warning. To fix it I had to go through full re-installation of the ACPI driver.

If you really need it get something like SpeedFan which is better known. I might just be a compatibility issue as this is on Windows 7, and it was designed for XP and Vista.

  • It doesn’t work

    ottoshinn123

    Pros
small file, fast download and got no virus

    Cons
worthless. didn’t work at all. Wasting time.

    Summary
I wonder why people even bother to upload non-functioninig program.

Acer Aspire One Fan Control is a program for Acer Aspire laptops that lets you control the speed of the built-in fan of the device.

A friend recently contacted me and told me that the fan of his Acer Aspire One laptop made him go nuts. He felt that it was way too loud and wanted to know if there was a program to reduce the noise that the netbook, or more precisely the fan that Acer put into it, makes.

I quickly found the Acer Aspire One Fan Control utility which proved to be very useful in this regard.

While the software program was not able to regulate the fan speed directly, it was able to set the temperature threshold so that the fan kicks in at a higher temperature level.

What this means is that it manipulates the values responsible for determining whether to turn on the fan or not. If you increase the temperature threshold by a couple degrees, it may be enough to stop the fan from running partially or at all.

Acer Aspire One Fan Control

acer aspire one

Acer Aspire One Fan Control works on computer systems running Windows XP or Windows Vista. It will place itself in the Windows system tray upon execution.

A click on that icon displays a status bar that lists information about the current CPU temperature and options to set the fan on and off temperatures. Finding the right setting for those may take some time as it largely depends on the climate but also the stability (meaning a silent system that always crashes is not the right solution) of the computer system.

Users who do not own an Acer Aspire One but would still like to reduce the noise their computer makes might want to read articles like Hard Drive Noise Reduction, Create Video Card Profiles To Save Power And Reduce Noise or Lower Video Card noise by reducing the fan speed.

Acer Aspire One Fan Control is a free download and should only be executed on Acer Aspire One models.

If your ACER computer overheats you may be able to manage that through Acer fan control. Keeping it cool protects your CPU and prevents overheating issues like system slowness and automatic shutdowns. You can find below 3 simple ways to adjust your fan settings, explained step by step.

How do I use Acer fan control?

1. Use Acer fan control software

Acer fan control software helps you control Acer laptop fan speed inside your Windows environment.

However, its effectiveness is limited by your firmware and sometimes, these tools fail. Not all Acer laptops have the same control fan software and some won’t support one at all.

For example, to control fan speed in an Acer Nitro laptop, and monitor GPU and CPU temperature, you can use NitroSense.

If you use Acer Aspire 7 laptop, you should use the Acer Aspire fan control utility called Acer Quick Access.

You can find the specific software compatible with your laptop by entering the serial number, SNID, or part number (P/N) in Acer Support’s Drivers and Manuals section.

2. Change the system cooling policy

  1. First, click on the Start menu, search for Control Panel, and click on Open.
  2. Then, click on Power Options.
    control panel power options

  3. Click on Change Plan Settings.
    Change Plan Settings

  4. Then click on Change Advanced Power Settings.
    Change Advance Settings

  5. After that, under the Advanced Settings tab, click on the plus symbol under Processor Power Management.
  6. Choose System Cooling Policy from the menu. Then, click on the down arrow under System Cooling Policy.
  7. Finally, select Active from the menu to increase the speed of your CPU fan. Then, click on the OK button.

3. Change BIOS settings

  1. Start/Restart your Acer laptop.
  2. Then, based on your motherboard manufacturer, you will need to repeatedly press the Del, F2, F10, and F12 keys to load the BIOS menu.
  3. Using the arrow keys, head over to the Monitor or Status option.
  4. Next, open Fan Speed Control and select Fan Control Setting.
  5. Choose the fan whose speed you want to change, and choose your desired speed from the list. Finally, press Enter and save the settings.

The second method on this list is to use the Acer BIOS smart fan control. This method requires you to know what you are doing and avoid making unnecessary changes to your BIOS settings.

Can I manually control my laptop fan speed?

Yes, there are various methods for controlling your laptop fan speed manually. For example, you can use the Control Panel and tweak the settings in BIOS.

Benefits of controlling fan speed

  • Increases reliability: If you want to ensure the reliability and longevity of your processor, you need to control the fan speed accordingly. This is because it can reduce overheating and provide the necessary cooling for your processor to run smoothly.
  • Decreases system noise: Another benefit of fan speed control is reducing unnecessary Acer fan noise.
  • Reduces power consumption: If your PC is overheating, it consumes more power. This is why you must control your fan speed to minimize overheating and its effect. When the control feature is coupled with a fan speed monitor, you can effectively increase your PC’s battery life.

Hello every one.

Sometimes I want to control my laptops fan.For example set it’s RPM to 100%.But there is no way.

I tried «Speedfan» software but it doesn’t recognize my fan.

I tried BIOS;But there is no fan option in my BIOS.

However,»IObit Advanced SystemCare 10″ can monitor my fan’s RPM.

Is there any way to control my fan speed?

  • Unfortunately Acer does not offer a utility or other means to control fan speed on this product. Perhaps other users know of a program that may offer this feature?

  • I never checked the fan on my E5-575g series to even see if it has the sense wire too detect speed. I know it ramps up automatically based on thermal temp of CPU and assume controlled from Bios. To force on full constantly seems odd request, can be noisy. You having over heating issues? When I get a chance will play with few ideas that might work. (Thinking EVGA utility I have might work with tweaks)

  • I don’t have big problem.

    But sometimes,for example when I play need for speed,laptop gets hot and fan works;but can be faster;

And when I want to shutdown, fan works extemely.

However there is no over heating problem.

(note:when laptop is hot, when I press the sleep, fan’s speed increases and windows goes to sleep But the power light(front bottom of laptop)is still blue so I need to force shutdown.)

  • no one can make config file for notebook fan control?

  • This is like the keyboard backlight being set to always stay on. The control comes from the Bios and I do not have the ability to reprogram that. Physical hardware I can do a few things. Got backlight to stay on. Fan control more problematic due to needing kick it up full then release back to bios control. I did get it full on but looking for way to toggle back to norm after that burst or better, as you said full control. Newer EVGA utility not seeing it and my old back ups lack that feature.

  • I found something.

My fan is 3 wire and I havo to control it with voltage.

There are two question now :

1-How can I control its voltage?

2-How can I read yellow wire (rpm) data?

note:when I were updating BIOS,fan were spinning extremely!

  • I made a config file for notebook fancontrol:

    https://mega.nz/#!1PgEjB5Z!lVctH8emLdrABYpKpCqHpQar7HIoYGJMasiX86DTZ58

it work but it’s not perfect.

    some problems:

1- I can write both 179 and 180 registry of EC to controll fan speed.which one is correct?(I use RW-Everything)

2- I don’t know min and max speed.

3- where is the read registry?is it same as write registry?

4- fan starts and stops constantly.because EC sets normal speed and software sets custom speed.

    please someone answer me!

If you can, make a perfect config file and post here.

    thanks.

@Trukntigger I have E5-575G too and it desperately needs faster fan speed. ACfancontrol can spin it up to max for few seconds but it quickly resets to BIOS mode. And BIOS doesn’t spin up the fan fast even wjen CPU is going in high 90s (C)

Have you got any problems with the beta?
I installed the 1.5.0 version and it looked like it would work fine, but then my computer just went off and started restarting by itself, does the beta works fine? What configuration did you choose?

  • Isn’t there a linux program for fan control ? I found a program but nothing worked. If I remember correctly the sensors of the fan weren’t detected. Does anyone know a good program which works with Aspire F5-573G ? Just for linux.
